Monster Hunter noob

How do I into Monster Hunter seeing as my platforms are limited to the 3DS?.
I want to be able to get into before MH comes out for the Switch so I don't go in blind.

4U is the best one available on 3DS and the best one for getting into the series imo

Monster hunter is a shit series held up by chinks and weebos. Avoid it like the plague.

Yeah but gameplay wise what the fuck should I do seeing as I'm going in blind.
4U is the one I currently have.

hit the monster until it dies

play longsword or charge blade, dont trade hits, the monster have 10x as much hp, also, if you don't WANT to like the game from the beginning, don't play it.
it's not going to be fun until atleast 50 or so hours

Avoid getting hit and wait for openings

That's the recipe for getting gud

Gotcha.
Playing now. Chosing Longsword.
What monsterarmour should I grind for first?

tetsucabra is amazingly good in the beginning.

Find a weapon you enjoy on early "hunt trash" quests.
play with that lots.
get good at dodging and learning everythings attacks.

Or just go online and hang back, let your team do the work then go in for the carves at the end

You can also emulate P3rd or FU on PPSSPP

Velociprey is easy to get and gives Attack Up Small
Damage output increasing skills are never wrong to get
Higher leves of sharpness give damage multipliers, so consider Sharpness +1 a good damage skill whenever that becomes relevant to you
Tetsucabra is a meme set and you're better off choosing another set and simply upgrading the armor for extra points of defense

if you do this i will rape your loli children

>before MH comes out for the switch

Lmao

generations is shit and we probably gonna get XX next year

start with 4U

> picking long sword off the bat

The problem long sword has only comes in multi player, you'll be tripping people with your attacks. It's good dps with spirit attacks but you run the risk off disrupting your teammates.

You should try out great sword or sword n shield instead

Since you're just starting:

Armor skills don't activate until they reach a breakpoint. Normally +10 to a skill activates it. Some skills activate new effects at +15 or +20 points.

Don't be the guy with 0 active skills in an online hunt.

>there's a MH game on wii and wiiu
it's plausible

Greatsword is fantastic for learning the fundamentals of the game.

All right OP here.
Grinding velocepreys, what do now

>tfw no mhxx on vita

Monster Hunter!

kill more shit, try weapons
find a weapon/weapons you like
create and upgrade said weapon/s
try to find an armor that gives you some skill (must surpass 10 on said skill)

FUCK OFF Tigrex, you're all washed up

Why is it unlikely? Japs can play it locally together and it is the new Nintendo handheld.

Is there a name for this artstyle?(making monsters into cute little fluffies)

Go back and forth between doing new quests and grinding monsters to make/upgrade weapons
Maaaaybe make another armor set
Reach High Rank and repeat, this time using Athena's ASS to make mixed sets if you wanna start getting several good skills at once
Reach G rank and repeat, start going balls to the wall with weapon and armor set mixing once you reach end game

There can only be peace
When there is no variety

Pariapuria for mainline monster hunter!!!!

>finally cave and get Generations
>framerate is dropping to below 30 and down to 15
>on fights with big monsters and little minions it drops to fucking TEN
>even the fucking villages make the framerate chug and the 3DS starts getting hot
>give up, delete the game

I don't fucking get why 4U runs like a god damned dream on my O3DS but Gen runs just abysmally bad.

Because 30fps is the best for action games according to His Grace, From Software :^))))

I think you are going a bit overboard with the framerate dips, i havent tried it on the O3DS but as far as i know it runs the same on the N3DS and i havent suffered from such frame drops.

The worst time when the fps tanks hard is during Nakarkos's death animation where he shoots his laser into the sky and everything is falling apart.

4U was 60 FPS but it wasnt consistent, you had noticeable dips here and there and if you where fighting elder dragons then all the more so.

About the game being 30 fps on Gen i heard that the japs got butthurt over the N3DS having a considerably better performance with 4U so Gen is held back by O3DS users who didnt want N3DS users to benefit from the extra performance.

If it comforts you, XX didn't bother addressing the graphical issue.
