Why is this both the best Sonic game, and the last one worth playing?

Why is this both the best Sonic game, and the last one worth playing?

Sonic/Shadow stages are the best out of any 3D Sonic game ever created but Knuckles/Rouge and Tails/Eggman stages are straight garbage

Because of this the Story mode feels like a fucking drag to play through because the fun action of Sonic/Shadow stages are constantly interrupted by Knuckles/Rouge stages and Tails/Eggman stages.

Not as bad as the Dreamcast version of SA1 though, where you literally aren't told where to go next and you have to figure where to go next.

Knuckles/Rouge levels always suck, but I actually found the Tails/Eggman levels to be pretty fun. Timing your lock-ons to rack up huge points was addictive. Also, that chao garden doe.

I liked Sonic Heroes more

probably because you have absolute shit taste in video games

No, you.

I can understand that. Heroes definitely needed another layer of polish but it really felt like a game made purely out of the Sonic/Shadow style levels.

Personally, there's a lot to SA2 that makes it my favorite though. Multiplayer kicks ass. I wish the game had some sort of "Free Mode" that let you use multiplayer characters in the single player stage select.

It's probably one of the only good 3d games but it's still pretty bad. Sonic 1-3 and CD shit all over it user.

>I actually found the Tails/Eggman levels to be pretty fun. Timing your lock-ons to rack up huge points was addictive.
you should try playing any shmup

>best
That'd be S3&K
>last worth playing
Sonic Generations

The space stages for Sonic/Shadow were rad as fuck.

Sonic Heroes was complete trash.

It wasn't great or anything, but it broke the monotony of the other levels. Would I rather have nothing but Sonic/Shadow levels? Fuck yeah, but we all know SEGA never would do such a thing. Beats fishing, I can tell you that much.

You didn't go ridiculously fast and the controls were decent, the gameplay was solid. The emblems and the Chao garden added a lot of replayability. It may have suffered from too much filler but overall it was a great game.
The only Sonic game I truly enjoyed after it was Sonic Generations, but I still dislike the temple run gameplay and how short it is.

This game also has THE best first level of any Sonic game, period. Demonstrates perfectly what a Sonic level should be, and caters to speed, reflexes and deep understanding of the level design more than any other level I've ever played. Also, that 3D remake of Green Hill Zone was fucking awesome.

>Sonic 1 and 2

Colors, Generations

delete this thread you sack of shit

Colors and Generations were utter tripe and you know it.

1 and CD honestly weren't worth a shit until Taxman spruced them up.

you posted both of those

I haven't even touched Sonic 06 for obvious reasons, but looking at it I can see it could have been a good successor to Sonic Adventure 2 if they actually completed the game.

I unironically and to this day love ever aspect of this game.

>Not as bad as the Dreamcast version of SA1 though, where you literally aren't told where to go next and you have to figure where to go next.
you are retarded if got stumped on where to go next in SA1. like, proper retarded. navi is in every city and tells you exactly what to do.

The main problem was the absolutely retarded story/bestiality and the terrible controls.

The bestiality never bothered me. As long as both characters are sapient any species combination is fine with me. Elise was just boring as a character.

Yeah, it's not like anyone cries bestiality with Jessica Rabbit and Roger.
