I recently played "Thimbleweed Park"
Beautiful story, crazy ending (LukasArts style), tons of humor. Even made a video playing it, if you not familiar with a game.
Is there any other point and click adventure games in the same retro style of gameplay, depths, and graphics?
Dont recommend actuall retro games like Secret Of Monkeys Island, blade runner, Maniac Mansion etc, because i am most likely already played them.
I am looking for modern games in the same category...

Thimbleweed had good puzzles, but the ending was telegraphed from miles away, I hated how easy it was to predict. Kinda pissed me off.
Actually, thanks to booming Android market, lots of good looking adventure point and click games coming out.

Creating such a good story, atmosphere, unique characters... And then screwing everything up with a rushed ending.
Eh, shit happens. Up to the very end it's awesome and definitely worth playing if you're into PnC.

It's a massive troll that gives you false hope that you can change Goodbye Deponia's terrible ending. Don't spend any money on that shit, it adds nothing to the story.
Great puzzle design, one of the best of it's genre indeed. The humor was ok until the shit ending, generic and boring.

Book of unwritten tales is good for some, I am not a fan of the series

Stay away from broken age and pretty much any other 3.3 million dollar man type projects
Primordia and Technobabylon
Primordia is good but a bit short in the end, Technobabylon is fantastic. And may or may not be getting a sequel.

I remember playing "Lula: The Sexy Empire", i think it used to be on DOS...
Even though it had a sex theme, it was very interesting adventure (empire builder actually, but point and click)

In my opinion Thimbleweed Park went WAY overboard on meta jokes. Having a character be an adventure game designer added very little to the game, but resulted in so many forced jokes about old games. One or two tongue-in-cheek jokes would be fine, but they hit a point where they were just masturbating.
There's an option to disable most of them now. But the requirements for removal didn't make much sense, so you get subtle references removed and blatant ones left in. Probably some sort of jab at complainers.

I guess i was looking at the game through nostalgic point of view, so jokes about old games worked out for me.
But who is playing something like this for the first time, might not get it.
Also, i have to mention one more adventure game, add it to the list.
Botanicula.
Characters are undescribable, ether can describe the lcations... There is no text or recognizable language... But, its an epic story about brave heroes with a very satisfying and big ending.
