Console 1.0 is a step up in difficulty, for real. My buddy who doesn't have internet played through it that way, and the enemy threat range in totally different. Really threw me off when three guys charged me, one guy rolled off the roof and I had to contend with 4 enemies when I was expecting two.

On a related note, you guys should check out the dark souls randomization mod. It randomizes all item locations, so you don't end up playing with the same weapons all the time. Everything is somewhere different. I ended up playing through with Kalameet's sword, recently, a weapon I would otherwise never ever use because it's only available so far into the game.

If you beat a game on normal or easy you haven't beat it. Prove me wrong. You can give no judgment on a game unless you play on hard or higher.

Normal is the definitive way to play most games. It's what the whole game is balanced around. It's rare that games revolve around harder difficulties. Most of them just give enemies extra resources, increase their health, or weaken your side by changing a few numbers in one way or another.
