Haha i totally forgot about vr
i hope it stays dead.
at least until it works better and has compelling software.
Sony will continue to pump money into it.
>real life people on this real planet thought VR was gonna take off
I honestly don't know how people actually fell for it when even a dumbass like me was able to see that it was DOA
VR is fucking dead meme
How many of you retards paid for PS4 pro to get VR meme?
>hurr durr VR is dead
God, you poorfags are incorrigble. VR is awesome, but it's going to take some time to hit it's stride. I know you guys are looking for the next TORtanic, but it's not VR.
Rift guys just said fuck it, but they can't say the reason why because Vive is holding a gun to Rift's head making sure Rift doesn't say that VR is dead.
you're right. vr is not dead at all what were we thinking
The only people i ever see shitting on VR are either poorfags who cant afford it, or obese neckbeards who can't move their own body without massive amounts of effort.
I agree most of the games are shit, but some of the shooters are mind-blowing though. If you like shooters and talk shit about VR, you're a fucking moron.
>hurr durr VR is not dead one user says
>picture literally below him is VR actually dead
Like pottery.
Nobody is using VR for the right reasons. Think about this for a minute, if you were a basement dwelling gamer, would you use VR to simulate gaming in first person or would you use it to stimulate your penis with a virtual girlfriend?
>if a hardware manufacturer isnt at E3 the platform is dead
OMG NVIDIA DOESNT HAVE AN E3 BOOTH PC GAMING = DEAD
Why not both?
You know, all of your devotion to shitting on VR is genuinely sad. I'm not investing in it yet, but the idea it's totally shit is just idiotic. Watch or listen to anyone who tries a decent VR game and they all think it's really cool.
That's enough.
No one liked 3D televisions or Kinect when they tried them. People do find VR kind of cool, and that means there's a market for it.
>someone being reasonable
i'm on Sup Forums right?
The only complaint I've seen for VR is that there's no amazing games for it. Like, of course there isn't it's new tech. If you buy something without doing research into the games then you're an idiot.
As a Vive owner and former 3D monitor owner, this makes sense.
I actually take the time to dick around on various things in VR about once a week. The porn is fantastic, too.
When I had a 3D monitor, it was cool for about 2 hours, and I never used it in 3D ever again.
You know, all of your devotion to shitting on 3D is genuinely sad. I'm not investing in it yet, but the idea it's totally shit is just idiotic. Watch or listen to anyone who tries a decent 3D game or movie and they all think it's really cool.
That's enough.
No one liked VR or Kinect when they tried them. I.e waggleshit. People do find 3D kind of cool, and that means there's a market for it.
what is there to pump money in anyway?
besides of marketing.
the machine is out and running already.
Sony is obviously not producing any games for it, which is why it's dying right now.
I see what you're trying to do, but it doesn't work, and now you just seem foolish.
Close your dickholster faggot the non-poor adults are talking.
Death Stranding
the poorfags are the lucky ones because they can't afford to waste money on this impressively embarrassing flop that we are calling VR
So is it just poorfags or do you guys have a legitimate reason not to want VR to succeed?
I'm probably never going to be able to play it because i get motion sickness easily, but it atleast seems interesting.
Atleast with motion controls moving around was annoying. What's wrong with VR aside from the price tag?
its only a waste because we are still in early adopter territory, wait for vive 2 lad.
Don't feel bad for being an ass about it when you realize how great vr is, we can just enjoy our games.
This E3 is where we see the first AAA VR games.
Even if it's only Fallout 4 and DOOM VR at the show itself, those two alone are going to be huge.
>ITT: people who have who don't own VR
The only thing wrong with it is that there is not much content for it.
>VR is awesome
It's not though it's fucking awful and inconvenient
I really want VR to succeed, but the only fun VR game I've played is Onward (And Elite Dangerous, but that's not really a "VR" game). The biggest issue is that it costs a shitload on top of a computer that already has to be pretty much top of the line, so the install base is so small that there are no games being made for VR itself. I'd love for VR to be ~300-400 bux cheaper, and for more games to be made on it, but as it is now it's a self repeating cycle where only shitty shallow indie VR games get made for the system because there isn't a big enough install base, and because there are no games for VR there isn't anyone willing to buy into the tech so it's stuck at a high price.
Maybe when the second (or third?) Generation of Vive comes out it might be cheaper and easier to get into so we might see a bigger install base for VR games, but as it is now it's just in a shitty feedback loop that leads nowhere good.
I think if AAA games are willing to make a game that is also a VR game at the same time (like the new resident evil) we might see more people buy into VR, but a million puzzle room, scenic view, or shallow shootan games won't sell VR to your average consumer
>no serious sam
spoken like a true bitch
But that's been true of every vidya 'console' since the PS2.
Sorry, by "only VR game I've played", I meant to say "Only VR games I've enjoyed"
Is it any good?
normies are going to lose their fucking minds.
Microsoft is announcing their new VR, which is going to give all other companies a run for their money.
>mixed VR and AR
>inside-out tracking
>compatible on both PC and Xbox
>$299
Watch as VR becomes amazing in the next year.
Me and I'm still loving it.
I didn't have a PS4 before though.
It's dead. In the mainstream gaming world at least. Everyone knows the real reason for VR is for waifu sex.
>This E3 is where we see the first AAA VR games
Resident Evil 7 was the first, but it'll be the first time we see western made AAA VR, hopefully.
what year of "vr is early adoption territory" is this now? the fourth?
the VR adaptations play wonderfully, at least in my opinion. right now they're cooking up a SS3 VR, and later on will bundle TFE, TSE, and BFE + VR variations in a single package running the latest serious engine. Get TFE VR to get a taste for it and if you like what you get wait a tad longer for the complete package
>porfags without VR are still mad
but the PS2 had a lot of content to look forward to within a year or two after it's release.
Same for the Gamecube
Xbox not so much, but it had halo and system link LAN parties to sell it
There aren't really any appealing "system sellers" for the vive except maybe onward as was mentioned by , and even then it's one game. Even in the earlier years of the PS4 when it was just a bloodborne machine you still had the new final fantasy, nier, gravity rush, call of duty, battlefield, persona, kingdom hearts, etc to look forward to so your console purchase isn't a waste. VR has nothing in the future as it is right now
just watched a video. It has artificial locomotion (sliding), I can't handle it.
VR failing is a financial problem, it means it wasn't economically plausible.
Hating VR is an imaginative problem, it means you don't like video games.
Your inferior genetics mean you are not evolved enough to enjoy virtual reality That sucks.
It's generally a few years user, how fucking /new/?
It was a pretty big deal at GDC so I would say yes, it will be present at e3.
VR's actually not that dead, it's just getting a slow start. The main issues are high cost of entry, which companies are trying to get around with those shitty phone/tablet VR sets, and lack of worthwhile control options, which has been fixed pretty well by the oculus touch and vive dildos.
There's some great games like robo recall, and raw data too.
The other issue is stuff that just hasn't been fixed in games because it's something that really can't be fixed without thinking way outside the box. Movement. Almost every single VR game uses that teleportation shit. Until we fix that it's gonna be awkward, 100%. It's just how it's gonna be.
PSVR is awkward cause it's significantly more affordable (still way too expensive don't get me wrong) but the move controllers are shit. 100% straight up unadulterated garbage. The tracking is awful, they barely keep up with like 10mph hand movements, they barely track at all because of their 10 year old technology, it's just bad. Bad bad bad. Farpoint is an excellent example of how PSVR can work, but that's just cause the gun is definitely using some new tech inside of it. It's not just some piece of plastic you snap move controllersinto.
>strapping 2 screens to your face
>vr
Pick one. Until smell, taste and touch are introduced it isn't vr.
>accounting
>job simulator
Holy shit just shut the fuck up already, nobody wants to smell your fucking BO in vr.
$500 oculus is worth it for porn
None of the cool stuff I read about in cyberpunk novels as a kid exists. I keep reading/watching videos about prototypes for augmented reality features. 3d body scanning, altering your environment/room, floating AI companions, etc. I don't see that shit on a shelf at Walmart. What I do see is gay and and boring.
Current-gen 'VR' is perfect positional tracking of head and hands. PSVR is last-gen VR, decent head tracking.
Accounting was made by the rick and morty guys, job sim is a fun meme "simulator" game.
you're wrong on that.
Death Stranding is not gonna be on VR
because it's a MGS game
VR was for 30+ year olds who were promised VR in the 90's and got shit.
I was one of those kids, and I got really butthurt with all the fake advertisement back then.
So now that I have VR, that I can fly planes, and drive cars, etc., it's everything I wanted. I'm glad VR came out the way it did.
It was just a little niche that didn't take off with regular consumers, it fell into the "expensive and unessential gaming peripheral" category.
VR will never catch on if it requires to pay $600 for a headset + a $1500 supercomputer. PS4 VR is in the right direction because it requires much less investment but from what i've heard it doesn't work as well.
I fucking love them but I get tangled in the cord very easily playing them. I can't wait until that wireless kit is available in the states.
Until I can taste an imaginary meal it isn't vr. Until I can feel the breeze it isn't vr. Until I can smell the pornstars armpits it isn't vr. I'm sorry you're so dumb you fall for companies trying to change the definition of vr to sell you trash.
The future of VR lies in smartphones, no average person wants to deal with having an expensive PC alongside the expensive headset with wires and shit.
>No Climbey
>No Onward
>No Pavlov
What the FUCK are you doing with your life, filthy PLEB
kill yourself
Nips will save VR
Its pretty obvious why people wanted it to work so bad. Every futuristic show or movie always has awesome virtual reality kinds of stuff and people desperately wanted it to be real. But at the end of the day you are just strapping a computer screen to your face.
>japanese Sup Forums aka 2chan
>thread about VR
>ching chong rooms too small
>ching chong too expensive for a gimmick
>kinect3
nips porn will save vr*
Remember how hard Sup Forums shilled VR?
Now they act like none of that shit ever happened.
i was thinking about making stuff for it
it's the cult of technology
if it sounds cool and sci-fi it must be the future for humanity
even if it's incredibly impractical
same with going to mars
>falling for the "Sup Forums is one person" meme
>ITT anons think VR is dead
>ITT anons are happy about that thought
I like how when things sell well and people adopt it like crazy, it's "for casual/for normies" and when it isn't adopted by those same people you guys find ways to hate on it still. Guess what else the masses don't buy? Those $500+ graphics cards half of you gloat about having. Did those "fail" to? Were those a meme?
It's almost like the most high end, extremely expensive (overkill) tech just attracts the smallest following of the most dedicated gamers, as it always has. The only way regular people can get their hands on it is the stupid phone-face holsters and PSVR for something more mid-range, and those are both pretty shit experiences. The only thing viable right now and looks like it will have a future is the Vive, but it just happens to be at the top in tech and cost. So basically we won't see regular people get into it until something the equivalent of the vive is as cheap and easy to access as those retarded/hilarious phone masks.
>Rift guys just said fuck it, but they can't say the reason why
Could it, you know, maybe have something to do with that GIANT lawsuit that they lost millions on recently? Ontop of getting fucked over by the Vive popularity? Vive won the VR war, it's pretty much over. Might as well ask why Sega's next console isn't going to be at E3 this year.
everyone was hype for the occulus until (((facebook))) got it
iirc there was Komm Süsser Tod playing on Sup Forums when the news got out
The tech is here already.
But it is one of those things that depend on the game industry's creativity and ingenuity to work.
>Remember how hard Sup Forums shilled VR?
no? people were excited at what john carmack was doing but once he sold out to facebook all hype died. Sup Forums never "shilled" for anything.
Name one(1) good VR game
t. never played modern vr
onward
also elite dangerous is really nice in vr
Robo Recall
K, Resident Evil 7 is still the first AAA VR game.
I can't wait for the next iteration of VR stuff. It'll still be niche garbage, but at least it'll be worthwhile.
Farpoint which just came out (funded by Sony) is the highest charting VR game to date. Tell me again exactly how it's dying?
>modern vr
You mean the first step towards the first steps of vr.
No, if we're counting last gen HMD compatible games there are TONS that were adapted to Oculus Rift DK2.
>AAA
>VR support
You must be 18 to post on this image board
These look like a proof of concept at best, I'm not gonna pretend I've played them but I literally wouldn't spend $5 on either
since the touch came out, oculus has shit all over vive in every single way.
people are just being pissbabies that there's high quality exclusive stuff on the rift so you vivetards can't have it. Enjoy your shitty non-finger-recognizing dildos.
>there are TONS that were adapted to Oculus Rift DK2
That's not the same as being developed for VR. Do you not understand that RE7 went through development hell to make it compatible with both VR and without it? From the first or second year of development they had been working on the VR support. And Capcom built a brand new engine to support VR, and implemented several features to improve comfort, and tried a lot of different in-game things with it, making it the first true AAA VR venture.
PSVR might be weaker but it's not like it's a "gen behind". It just fucking came out. It's much better than phone vr. Your argument holds no water.
>haven't played them
>still tries to make any kind of valid criticism
Even if you admit it, this is exactly the shitty response I expected. Please stfu.
VR is not dead because they haven't actually made the huge leaps yet. Everything so far has been more or less to Facebook and Valve's expectations. It's a gradual process and they have yet to actually waste a single penny. Every expense they've both made to this point has been calculated, all building up to when the tech finally becomes accessible enough for the mass market; the playing field they're currently building now is to ultimately facilitate that very moment and shift, allowing the market to plant its feet firmly on the ground and into wallets everywhere.
Refute me. Try it. I dare you.
Newfag detected.
Sup Forums shilled the fuck out of the Occulus and the Vive (but moreso the Occulus).
>Remember how hard Sup Forums shilled VR?
You mean Sony drones did it because Sony announced PS4 Pro for VR.
Breaking news: it bombed hard and sonytards got jewed like mindless drones they are without even getting 60 fps version of their single Souls rehash game.
>RE7 was developed for VR.
shill detected
Are you pretending to be retarded? They said in one of their videos, either the GDC talk or the behind the scenes series, that they introduced the VR after already starting but it was early into development. The RE engine was made VR compatible for it.
It's coming for PC VR next year anyway.
