Why do all MMOs fucking suck? WoW: Arcade casual trash BDO: "The only reason you want player freedom is RMT, obviously, so you don't get any." EVE: Takes five years to overcome new player disadvantage. PSO2: "LOL WHY WOULD YOU WANT PVP" Revelation: Chink shit that performs and looks like chink shit. FFXIV: "It's not WoW!" Edition
Is there a single MMO worth fucking playing at all right now? Why is the entire genre such a shitshow? I love the idea of MMOs but they're almost invariable awful.

>is there a single MMO worth fucking playing at all right now? Why is the entire genre such a shitshow? I love the idea of MMOs but they're almost invariable awful.
The entire genre is garbo because its trying to appeal to rpgfags by being a social game but more often than not you can do 90% of the content solo or without any kind of coordination if in a group and the gameplay is often really shallow aswell.
Tyler Nguyen
Isn't ESO a good MMO? Anyway, I love Tera's combat and I think it would work perfectly in the hands of competent people, too bad it won't happen and the same mentally handicapped degenerates will still run this shit.
Evan Myers
"new player disadvantage in eve meme" lol.
yes all that spare skill points in other ships is what is making you lose the fight against this one ship.
not everyone in eve is a genius, but thick people cannot play it at all.
Chase Stewart
EVE fanboy who spends all his time playing it detected

I have high hopes for pantheon though I have some nasty stuff and don't know if I should have high expectations. I want to believe but I don't want to get fucked.
I stumbled across an mmo called Darkfall: Rise of Agon. I didn't really read anything about it but a video I saw made it look neat. Cam anyone tell me about it?
Lucas Howard
i have 20m SP collected over an 11 year period, which means ive played the game for roughly one month per year.
Good attempt, but as we already established, you are thick as dog shit.
Wyatt Evans
modern game developers are gay >find bestselling games >copy their gameplay as much as they can >does it sell? okay lets make a sequel with the exact same gameplay >does it sell? rinse and repeat
think about this: you're in the military and they have an army of cooks specially trained. The cooks give you a well thought out, delicious meal. Say, a lobster roll with french fries. They see that the soldiers eat their meal so they proceed to MAKE THAT MEAL EVERY DAY FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR.
guess what? if someone gives me a much shittier meal after eating hte same damn lobster roll every day I'd choose the shit meal! I'd eat a fucking tin of sardines instead!
so why do devs copy gameplay till infinity? because us retarded vidya players will still buy it.
its our fault gaming is shit now

I think people in general are getting fed up with the formula, which is >Loads time invested and/or grinding >Majority of quests are grindy shit >No real sense of progression, you are just another pleb among thousands >So many players at once sets restrictions on gameplay/combat
They need to rethink the whole formula. A massive open world with all players sharing it sets some huge restrictions
Elijah Foster
Agreed. I started playing again recently and have low skill but it doesn't matter at all.
I'm in a nullsec corp and flying in fleets daily. Can't wait till I can skill up and fly more exotic stuff but it doesn't mean you can't participate and be effective.
It's really sucked me in again. It's developed nicely since I last played years ago.
Connor Gutierrez
FFXI. It was the last hurrah of the MMO genre before WoW polluted it beyond redemption. It's a pale shadow of its former self but it's leaps and bounds better than the rest.
Landon Parker
FFXIV is not WoW, it's better
Easton Fisher
>your enemy having all ship/weapon skills trained to 5 doesn't matter when fighting them
lol yeah ok buddy

Nothing worth subscribing for. Just throw down 10 bucks on the ESO base game and call it a day.
Wait for Pantheon, Crowfall, and Age of Camelot.
Noah Rodriguez
Fights are rarely fair one on one fights. It doesn't matter at all.

ALL MMOs are trash now, spent my life playing them, I can only handle ESO but it's mainly due to me loving elder scrolls

We've been over this before
There are two types of MMOs 1) Theme park >You experience content created by a development team. The main experience is that content. Typically you are railroaded from one theme park ride (questing area) to another as you level up, and then spend your time on the end game rides for the rest of your experience 2) User driven >The MMO provides a framework for the people who are playing it. Content is created by players, which can refer to both tangible content (custom quests) and intangible content (player driven wars and territorial disputes)
WoW is a theme park MMO and because of it's success, investors who don't understand how to make an enjoyable experience have demanded they copy it. They fail to create something good because they don't have the years of experience and palette of talent to work with, or the directors who can create something nice.
EVE is user driven. It's probably the only user driven MMO on the market thanks mainly to WoW
Games can't survive with only studio driven content. WoW manages because of their gigantic player base which is already invested and resources and advertisement.
>Also Due to WoW introducing the dungeon finder, MMOs have tried to copy that which has resulting in them hurting themselves even more. Dungeon Finder ruins the social experience of an MMO and turns it into a glorified single player game. In a funny way, WoW neutered all it's competition by making that shitty feature.
>Side note Planetside 2 was close to being a user driven MMO. It wasn't all the way there, but it was a step in the right direction in terms of how things should pan out. It just was sorta bad
Mason Taylor
I used to write for that website. The culture is really fucking bad. The editor does all the big releases because they pay him for good reviews. 2 of the oldest writers are fuckin' weird. Pretty much everyone with talent dips out after $700-1k (they used to pay $50 per review).
Julian Diaz
>Why do all MMOs fucking suck?
They don't fascinate people anymore seeing as everything's online now.
Angel Jenkins
EVE players are the most autistic people on the planet

I'd like to get back into it but I made an alpha gallente and got pretty far with it. Seems like the best alphas are caldari for missiles and shields, or minmatar for cheap arty destroyer spam
