They won.

Summary of the live letter info:

Did I do good fellas?

You better not slack off when you're building my stacks.

the second battle theme in the job actions trailer

is so

FUCKING

GOOD

>"Remove" Cleric stance and make healer DPS scale off MND to encourage heal sluts to try DPSing
>they won't

...

Seems like they nailed the music yet again.

Aetherflow crystals and BBC Bahamut's timer is works for me homes.

REVELATIONS IS SHIT

...

>cleric stance is optional

NOT ON MY WATCH

>Actions which are direct upgrades of lower-level actions will directly replace the button of the lower-level action, saving hotbar space. E.g. Stone II replaces Stone, and Stone III replaces Stone II. The available action also changes based on level sync. Actions with different effects remain separate (i.e. Fire and Fire II)

So this makes sense for most things (Thunder 1-> Thunder 3, Thunder 2-> Thunder 4 [AoE], Stone 1-4, Malefic 1-3) but what about Ruin?

Ruin II will probably stay put and I can see SCH easily replacing Ruin with Broil and Broil 2 but SMN is a bit more complicated than that

>Could easily maintain Cleric Stance as an optional, risk/reward stance, with +10% damage, -80% healing while you have it on, for more advanced players
>They don't

You'll like it once it plays during the shinryu fight.

it gives 5% increased damage for 15 seconds on a 90 second cooldown (temporary values)

that is pretty fucking optional my man

Cleric Stance itself is now a 90s cooldown that increases DPS by like 5% for something like 15s

We still know basically dick all about most of the new actions, mechanics and jobs.

I thought that the live letter would involve going through each job's new action one by one, explaining what it does and showcasing it. Instead we got 1 hour of explaining BLM's new HUD gauge, some vague explanations of a handful of RDM, SAM, WAR and PLD skills, and then everything else was crammed into an 11 minute video with no context or tooltips.

Rank the gauges, Sup Forums

>Aero gone from SCH on AST
>Bio and Bio II probably consolidated too
>Combust becomes Combust II on AST at the required level and becomes instant
There goes my weaving.

Also if they don't reduce the MP cost on Ruin II it's gonna make SMNs cry when they're forced to use it.

ruin would just upgrade to ruin 2

both SMN and SCH have upgraded versions (Ruin III, Broil) that require cast time so i don't see why ruin can't be their instant cast mobile spell

Ruin 1 becomes 3
During Dreadwyrm 3 upgrades to 4.

>DRK gets a DMC gauge

...

hol up sneaky

where u think u goin boi

Did they say anything about how ERP was going to be affected by 4.0?

pretty sure 1 will upgrade to 2 and 3 will automatically become 4 when used when bahamut is summoned (not channeled)

You'll have to ask the east coasters

What do you think?

The liveletter didn't explain shit about what PLD's meter does, mostly just wanking over the cone shaped sacred soil and informing us they have a spammable spinny aoe move

Well, there's swimming now so I think beaches are probably gonna be popular spots.

Maybe some new swimsuits.

RDM, AST, and MNK are all top tier though

All that can be gleaned from the video is that it increases when you use damaging skills and decreases when you use Sheltron or switch stances.

speculate wildly about sam abilities
the 140 tp combo is an aoe
the 160 tp thing is a ranged attack
the 10 swordmeter thing is a gap closer
the yellow circle thing requires at least one seal open to activate and i have no clue what it does, same with the blue and the red
there does not appear to be a gcd dot, so not worrying about clipping + getting big damage from finishing combos means rev up that skillspeed

MNK and WHM's are good/10

These gauges look like something straight out of a Platinum game.

Unless they change the entire UI, I can't help but feel as though they'll be terribly out of place.

It seems to use the resource to cast defensive cooldowns like Shelltron, if the JA trailer is to be believed

It did though. Their abilities clearly have blue costs on them now. Do you really need them to tell you that sheltron costs 50 gauge?

SAMs are going to be the cucks of this expansion, mark my words. Every other job in the preview has something that really held my interest - except for SAM. It looks slow and boring and some of their attacks look like they share particle effects with NIN abilities.

This is why SAM should've been a tank

I fully expect them to be shit on release then get a disgusting buff like astro got a few patches in.

Do the dragoon gauges increase as you get hit by AoEs?

MONKS BELONG ON THE KEKSHED NOT ME
FUCK YOU YOSHI FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU

I don't mind their animations but their gameplay does look VERY simplistic and boring. Unless there is a need to use different Iaijutsus in your normal rotation, it doesn't seem like there's any reason to use anything except the ridiculous 720 potency one.

let it go

sam being a dps means we get a gunblade tank in 5.0

Doesn't matter.

SAM is there prove point that casuals don't really give a shit about meta and only parrot what tryhard raiders said and now that they get their weeb swordsman they won't care anymore.

Don't let it gooooo

I still feel kinda bad about how curved lines in SHILL look on that

I wanna be a samurai RIGHT NOW!!!

The new gauges are too confusing.

>butthurt East Coasters start going full Sup Forums on latinos

>tfw ninja's new "Leylines"
>Can cast ninjutsu after every mudra
>start with Chi for Fuma
>follow up with Ten for Raiton
>end with Jin for Suiton

>Now you realize making NIN unplayable for half the US was to reduce the number of players freaking out once they see how useless they are in 4.0

That's dumb because the risk far outweighs the rewards. Fucking 10% increased damage for goddamned 80% decreased healing? Are you retarded?

With that said, i don't understand why some faggots are so assblasted about cleric stance being changed, it's an unnecessary mechanic for the sake of complexity because MUH HARDCORE. I find it ridiculously stupid that not only is you're healing drastically reduced you're fucking locked out of healing stance for 5s not counting for the 1s animation before you actually start casting shit. Also add the fact that you're massively punished for braindead dps who can't dodge shit at the exact moment you swith to cleric stance.

if it's any consolation these fedoras will most likely be joining you in the cuck shed :^)

They're all pretty straightforward except for BLM's which is a clusterfuck.

It really surprises me how little DRG gets talked about in these threads. There's the occasional loldrg joke but overall it's barely talked about even though it's up there with WHM and BLM in classic FF jobs.

>all while you can't do gcd
>and stuck in one spot
let me know when they let mudra sustain through gcd usage

>so you're either forced to sit through 200 hour+ of story content or pay 50 bux just to play Stormblood
WHAT A FUCKING RIP OFF

the frog thing also seems to refresh shukuchi

If I can't be as SAM as Auron was, then it's all for naught.

I have Bahamut waiting for me, so at least I have that.

it's because it's been memed to death.

>PLD gets active mitigation
Shit. That's exactly what I wanted.

Too bad about Protect, Stoneskin and Raise though. The dream of a hybrid healer/tank PLD is over.

I don't understand this. So let's say you already have Malefic 2. Then you queued for anything pre 54. Does Malefic 2 get automatically replaced with Malefic?

>Woooowww you mean I actually have to play the game?

So is MCH's 1-2-3 combo consistent now instead of requiring Ammo/Luck to perform, with Ammo now being basically aetherflow stacks?

>has problems with blm's meter
Did you try and play drg at the start of hw?

I'm going to shoot up a school if they ruin Cleric Stance.

They still have Clemency which is a lot better than any of that other shit.

...

I'm goin to turn them off the moment I log in.

>wtf?!!!!!! I have to play the game!?!?!?!?!?11

>crossclass utility increased
>healer and tank damage nerfed

the only thing that will matter for dps classes now is how much raw damage they can put out
it's monk and sam's excellent adventure now and all you "muh utility" children will be put in the dumpster where you belong

Yes. The skills that get replaced will level sync.

You replace the spell with the best available version based on your level.

So a level 60 WHM has Stone 3, but if they level sync below 54, it's instead Stone 2, while if they sync below 22, it's Stone 1. Keeps them from taking individual spots on the hotbar.

BLM is a bit different as Thunder 1 only upgrades into Thunder 3, while Thunder 2 upgrades into Thunder 4, an AoE

Don't worry, now mind is for heals and dmg. Whm is still fucked because Sch is the biggest whore in all the lands

he's saying it's moderately convoluted, which it is when compared to every other job.

Not saying it actually IS, just that it's more-so than the others.

In what way is healer damage nerfed? If anything it's buffed.

Yes. Level-sync will bring it down to the highest upgrade automatically

Get your guns loaded. Cleric Stance is now a 90sec CD with a 5% Damage increase for 15 seconds

That's practically what it is already though, bar the CD.

People who dislike Cleric Stance are generally bad healers or don't even play healer to begin with and anyone who thinks this is actually gonna encourage Sylphies to DPS is grossly naive.

Pinglets will never enjoy RDM and SAM the way they were meant to be played

Alright I can agree with that. The triple cast segment could've been folded into the element part to make it a half moon instead of crescent or something.

Some things about DRK that you would miss (or might not have occurred to you) if you were watching the LL expecting actual information like a normal person and not doing fucking frame-by-frame analysis of a 20 second clip:

>Their gauge isn't just a second MP bar, and none of DRK's MP-based functions have been moved to the job gauge. Using Dark Arts has no effect on the gauge, and neither does activating Grit. DRK just has to manage MP as before, on top of anything dealing with the new gauge.
> Standard attacks don't seem to fill the gauge (in general), but you get +3 to the gauge every time Blood Weapon triggers, and +10 from using Souleater. It's unclear whether Souleater is the only weaponskill that gives a bonus, or if you get +10 from finishing any standard combo.
>That part in the video where the DRK stops to use Shadow Wall on himself actually isn't Shadow Wall; it's the "Cover" type skill that he used on the Samurai in the benchmark. Whatever the effect of that skill actually is, it can be placed on yourself as well as on other party members.
>When the DRK activates Grit, there's a blue graphic on the new job UI. However, there isn't really a corresponding effect before he activates Grit - this likely means that DRK is going to continue to be a one-stance tank, and their "DPS stance" is simply dropping their tank stance (in other words, they don't need one GCD to swap to tank stance, and another GCD to swap back, like PLD, and they aren't stuck in tank stance until a cooldown expires, like WAR).
>The two new meter-consuming SEEM to behave roughly similar to Decimate and Fell Cleave. They're powered by the new meter, they cost 50, they appear to be a powerful AoE and powerful single-target attack, respectively. However, regardless of their actual effects, there are two important notes: 1) They seem to be usable in or out of Grit; the first is used before Grit goes up, and the second while Grit is active, and 2) They both seem to have Dark Arts effects.

So it looks like AST can do 4 things with a card now

>use it
>burn it for Royal Road
>hold it for later
>replace it with an alternate version with different effects

I'm not sure if the alt card is an entirely new card or something simple like "reversing" it by flipping it upside down like how Tarot works

>played monk in HW and quit around the time A3S got cleared
>check Stormblood news
>monks just have different UI element for GL and the 5x chakra spam
The fuck did they even do for this job?

>1 becomes 3
>SMN oom in 5 seconds

>in less than 24 days we're never gonna get to stance-dance ever again
Feels fucking bad man.

Do we even have any hard evidence?
Buff or nerf, it's removing complexity/risk/fun.
And that's fucking awful. If I wanted a brain dead job I'd play DPS

Iunno maybe it'll cause them to think for once

You gain Chakra stacks while fighting normally like WAR did with Wrath so there's probably more Chakra actions since you can use them more liberally.

The fixed it's only problem.

I'm guessing that each of the 6 normal "sun" cards has a "moon" counterpart which you get when you change that particular card. i.e. Bole always becomes the wings thing.

>qol we needed that we didn't ask for

YOSHI IS A GOD.
Self-made dots and debuffs priority in focus target when??

Just shut up and suck my dick like a good little heal slut. Let us real men do the hard work.

>monks only problem was it's low group synergy
>gets group synergy
>WOOOW WHAT ARE THEY EVEN DOING WITH MONK???

MNK is one of the few jobs in the game that has a solid design already.

>qol we needed that we didn't ask for

Dude everyone was asking for that shit for years

reversing would be funny
>bole becomes balance and vice versa
