Yes and no. Smash 4 gave melee a temporary boost in views, but now melee is at it's peak and is now slowly dying.

I think for most of these it is just a few guys and you are making a bigger deal out of it than it is because like that it is more fun.

It was too bad that Ryu got leaked because he was an awesome inclusion. No one saw fucking Cloud or Bayonetta coming, though, they even teased us with the Bayonetta trailer initially appearing to advertise another Kid Icarus character.
