Damn i still remember this game, i used to think i could feed lions by putting giraffes or other herbivores inside their fences.

Good times.

RCT obviously

Not these days, but when I was a kid I played Zoo Tycoon 1-2 and Rollercoaster Tycoon pretty religiously. I still have the boxes and disks for some, some of them are so damn old the boxes are literally falling apart.

RCT

OpenRCT.
The multiplayer implementation is lots of fun. Also the future night cycles.

...

didn't know about this, pretty cool

Don't get your hopes up to high, the development branch for this has been dry for just over a year now. Not sure if it was too unstable and they abandoned it or it is just at the very end of the to-do features list.

The images that came out of the testing phase though are stunning

Open TTD blows everything else out of the water.
With 64 bit support, mods, multiplayer and patches with features and fixes every other week how can anything compare.

but does it werk?

I try to when I can. Latest I've played was Planet Coaster on PC. Kinda hoping something like it would come to the switch

>rusted fence
>maintenance worker won't fix it
>drag him over to it
>he walks away
>hire another 20 workers
>none of them acknowledge the fence
>have to buy a new fence

huh?

>0.0.8.
jesus, that's early

I know RCT is the favorite around here, but I spent my childhood playing Zoo Tycoon 1 and 2. Too bad there will never, ever be a sequel

we should make it

You'd think at least one indie dev would have jumped on the concept by now

It'd be nice if we had something like how Cities: Skylines catered to the Sim City fans.

I'll start on the logo

Theme Hospital is the best tycoon game ever made, I miss bullfrog ;_;

Hey, if you want to try, go right ahead

who theme park world here

I just might. Too bad I can't into art, if I manage to get past the engine choosing phase I might hire someone

that really didn't age well.

Loved the game though.

it really didn't but it always makes me smile because I remember the times when I loved the shit out of it

Oh my god just looking at that screenshot is making me smile.

This might sound super lame, but if you ever do end up making a zoo tycoon game, you should include an encyclopedia or some kind of educational component.

Those games were a major reason for my getting into zoology as a kid.

not lame at all

Patrician tier tycoon game

It works, just don't expect an increase in object limits or anything

>posting inferior theme park

This almost shovelware tier game was fucking amazing. Best third rate tycoon game of them all.

bump

Honestly i'd love another game like Zoo tycoon.

Are Zoo Tycoon games still fun today?
i only played theme hospital and RCT2 in the past and i felt like trying another.
most other tycoon game seemed like to be a miss.

I think they both hold up very well

Back then I didn't really know how to torrent so I was really sad when I found out about marine mania expac and couldn't get it
I believe so, I'll try them out today probably. I always like how you had to change the exhibit and shit in it to match the animal's preffered environment and climate

...

I loved this and simcoaster. Too bad there will never be a modern version. Everything nowadays falls into the mostly realistic aesthetic

I loved Sim Golf and wish it could get the 'Open' treatment

God tier game.

Even when you are 8 year boy who is scared of almost all games, building your own zoo is very fun, relaxing and can keep you sucked in for hours. And when you learn how to cheat $, you dont even need do get gud to enjoy it.

Shame it is not on gog. This is probably my first pirated game, because at that time you couldnt even legally buy it in my country. And from certain size of your zoo, the workers stopped clearing poos because your CPU didnt manage to compute AI right.

>CPU-CRIPPLING AMOUNTS OF POO

Anyone up for hosting an RCT2 server? It's fun on multi.

I really love OpenTTD and OpenRCT2, best open source games

SimFarm.

There still has not been a contender for it.

I can't believe isometric tycoon games haven't gotten the indie treatment

>played all rct games when I was a kid
>was really good at making custom coasters
>pick the game up again years later as an adult
>suck at making coasters that visitors actually want to ride

Feels bad man

OpenRCT2 has to be the best thing that happened to theme park games ever. Fuck Planet coaster and all that fancy shit

Loved Zoo Tycoon
>mfw discovering the secret unicorn and triceratops

How exactly does RCT2 work in multiplayer?

lehey on tpb is stolen right from trailer park tycoon

Genuinely the perfect game. It does lacks the changeable camera like RCT2. I know that Locomotion had that but nobody made the open source version.

Everyone builds on the same map, unlimited dosh. Group sandbox basically, like a collab park but all at once.

>tfw when no cool kickstarter tycoon games

>kickstarter

no thanks, that's an immediate red flag. most indie devs avoid tycoons since they require a half decent artist and there's a lot of logic in the game compared to shitty side scrollers and other shit.

>Not wanting a wild life conservationist tycoon

You may want to check on this then.

>secret unicorn
nani???

I would gladly play them to this day if we could get good new versions.

FFS I would settle for an HD remake of the old games.

I dump hours on top of hours into those games when I play them.

I just want a remaster of ZT2.

A new game would be great too but that is asking too much.

Cute, but the map projection is a bit weird. It's too angled up in the air.

>trapping the customers in a cage with tigers

I was a born psychopath.

haven't played them in ages, don't know why though.
i have so many fond memories about the older ones like dinopark, pizza, railroad and transport.

be honest, did you guys jew out the prices on soda and pizza stores?

As far as I know, the games are almost impossible to find without pirating them outright. I'm lucky I still have my old copies

I did the obvious shit and just deleted the dinosaur fences

I fucking loved Theme Hospital.

You know what, I'm going to play that shit tonight.

i'm pretty sure i have pizza tycoon somewhere, i just don't have a clue where. i should go through my collection, i burnt a few dvd's years ago to save my good old classics.

I wish I could get into this

It's a simple game

What's the appeal of tycoons anyway? Why not start your own business if you like looking at spreadsheets and create business plans?

>why play games? you can do those shit FOR REAL outside

Sadly I lack the dosh to build my own theme park.

Cause that shit costs thousands of actual money we don'y have and lots of risk we can't afford.

Yup same here. Really needs it for widescreen/windowed support.

you can play OpenTTD:lite in space. It's easier to get into

Sim Golf was so good.

Loved that shit too

most underrated tycoon game, sim golf was the shit

what seems to be the problem?
transport tycoon is really straight forward and simple.

That's barely comparable to OpenTTD. It's more of a strategy game where you use every means necessary to fuck over your opponents so you win.

>never bother with changing the landscape and terrain
>parks always end up looking boring

I remember ZT beign too restrictive with how animals should live in.

It was frustrating that i wanted to build a little ledge for my zebras, and got them annoyed just because the terrain isn't flat.

Did anyone here played Europa 1400:The Guild? It's basically a medieval tycoon on a city scale, bretty good.

3rd game soon my brother.

Is that the predecessor to The Guild 2? Bought the sequel thinking it was a city builder and it confused the fuck out of me

Sure.
Guild 1 > Guild 2
Guild 3 is vaporware until I finally see a single new screenshot

I have not played this but it sounds interesting, can you go into more detail about the game?

double click the exe its not that hard

>zoo tycon crashes on w7 after you reach certain ammount of guests

Yes. It's better in every way too.

Fuck yeah, i'm so looking forward to that. It's seems that devs have their shit together and don't want to casualize it to hell, i'm pretty hyped.

Just read the reviews here mane.

CorsixTH?

The advisor was great, think the yanks got someone else though.

>'Your park is looking kind of empty....it's like Norfolk, with a gate.'

Not a great game though, I played it to death but it really wasn't good.
>mfw trying to get enough golden tickets so you could walk around the park

>microsoft intentionally designed its old games to fail on w7 to force gamers to switch to their new spyware os

and sim tower

It mixes management elements of different medieval crafts and profession with sims-like control of your dynasty. Including politcal backstabbing and cloak and dagger tactics.

Nothing better than dragging the patriarch of a rival family in front of court on thing evidence, but throwing him into the debt tower anyway, because all city officials are your family members.

>mfw made a zoo in RCT2 by putting the entertainers with various animal costumes in cages

win10 did nothing but cause all my old games to crash so i went back to win7 and now they dont. rainbow 6 was the main game that was crashing

>Games that were built to run on an older OS don't work so well on newer operating systems
Gee, what were the odds of that happening.
