This game is on sale right now and its the slow part of the year so I'm going to make a shill thread for it.

This is the best game I've played in years and easily GOTY 2016. If you enjoy stealth games in any format, you need to give this title a go. It gives you tons of ways to approach every situation then also adds challenge mode stuff you can go back and do later on. Stuff like beating levels without killing one, or ever getting spotted or even completing them without making use of certain mechanics and powers.

You've got nothing else to play right now. At least pirate it and give it a shot. You're missing out on a good time.

Its great; a modern day Commandos / Desperados. Optional Japanese VO for the win.

Its pretty good, also a bit easy and the trap+whistle girl is broken

She's part of the learning curve. Eventually you kid good and start setting up quad kills while the casuals are still baiting people off one at a time.

>Kuma, work your charms!
>Kuma, KILL!

>srpg

Not my kind of stealth game

There are zero RPG elements in this game. It is wholly and complety a squad based stealth game with isometric camera.

Is this turn-based?
People say it's really dull, like swapper with cool graphics.

Is there any actual depth/choice/ability-character progression?

Or just run in, try what works, reload and try again if it doesn't?

>This is the best game I've played in years and easily GOTY 2016
You have shit taste, because this is a cheap, sub-par Commandos clone that is inferior in all aspects.

>Is this turn-based?
Not the OP, but it's real time. It's literally a Commandos clone, so if you've never played the original Commandos games, just play those and by the time you'll be done through them you'll be fed up with RTT games so bad you'll forget this game even exists.

And yes, Commandos like games require a shitload of patience, so they can be "boring," because missions cannot be simply rushed and you need to figure out a path of progress most of the time.

>Is there any actual depth/choice/ability-character progression?
No. Just the way you want to do the level, and the levels are very well designed enough to allow you to have a different playthrough. Some levels force characters to start off at different areas or a specific set of 2/3 characters which also change it up alot. Like trying to get the old man who makes noise as he moves around the map

GOTY 2016

Also is right. It's easy to bait a guard with it but the true fun is getting through missions in the most efficient way where baiting one guard at a time with whistle just wastes time.

I've done all the badges and speed running and no kill runs etc is where this game shines even though most of the negative reviews on steam seem to think there's only one way to play each mission "Kill one guard at a time puzzle game".

So it's just a "sneak past a buncha levels" simulator.
Seems okay.
Do you have to control multiple units and switch between them so one of them doesn't get killed when you control the other?
That would be too tedious, as long as it's just 1 character I might try this.

No you'll have multiple characters. But you just hide them in a bush or on a roof when you're not using one. Multiple characters backing each other up is what's great about these games, the better you get at controlling them in sync with the others the more engaging the game gets because you can pull of more risky and more complicated stuff.

>cheap, sub-par Commandos clone that is

Anyone that actually played a lot of commandos or was good at it knows this is a shit tier opinion.

>pirate it

There's a demo up at steam so screw that

Yeah this game was a blast, highly recommended and I don't mind shilling for it either.

Wait, are you implying this shit is better than Commandos games? AHAHAHAHAHAH.

>So it's just a "sneak past a buncha levels" simulator.
> control multiple units and switch between them... would be too tedious
Point at him and laugh.

It is better than most commandos games. you could even say that only 2 is better.
> AHAHAHAHAHAH.
Good argument.

The only Commandos game that's better is 2.

Is the demo a good representation of the whole product? I can say with certainty it's a game I'd like, but I want to see myself if it's a $27 value for my cheap ass.

>It is better than most commandos games.
And here you have outed yourself as a retarded shill, congratulations. This shit is nowhere near any of the Commandos games, your shit game sold like utter dogshit for a reason. Next time try being more subtle, shill, and maybe you'll get some fuck to buy your trash.

>GAME NEEDS A PAUSE BUTTON

Is this the true pleb opinion? Are people too retarded to know that it's 90% set up and 10% execution.

Doesn't this game run like shit or something? How shit are we talking here if it does? Is it only a concern for toasterfags?

If you enjoy doing challenges it is. If you just want to progress through the campaign maybe wait for a bigger price drop.

Honestly I paid full price just to support it because the genre's been dead since 2003.

>he thinks commandos 3 is better than Shadow Tactics

Actually neck yourself.

>genre's been dead since 2003
>RTT
>dead since 2003
Stop posting any time and go take your retard pills.

This game was so fucking good, I remember I played the demo all night when I first heard about it here, then got the game the next day.
Really came out of the blue, great game

It's a good game, bought it last year when it came out and was pleasantly surprised by it.

Genre was the wrong word. Commandos clones then.

Yeah, OK, your literally who shit game that nobody bought or played is better than the classics than have helped to define RTT genre. Great opinion, too bad nobody except you and your shill butt-buddy hold it.

Nice bait m8.

I haven't even played Commandos or Shadow Tactics, but you need to stop posting my man.

>bait
If by "bait" you mean "fact", then sure.

devs said it sold a reasonable amount, enough to keep them making more games
can't expect these games to sell millions in 2017

>Try to do a mission with 0 kills
>Get to the end after hours
>Badge is to do the mission killing everyone

>reasonable amount
>100k
>when turn based kickstarter tactics games from literally who devs make at least twice that
Yeah, OK, keep deluding yourself further.

>b-but it's not turn-based, it's real time!
Yeah, and that's why it should have sold more, not less, but it's hard to do that when the game is trash.

Why are you so mad about some random indie game. Aside from the fact that you're a rabid shitposter.

Because retarded shills had the audacity to claim that it's better than the far superior games that spawned this type of games.

>Trying to do challenge runs on your first go

Just a shitposter then, gotcha.

You're also not considering that most people who buy these games are much older and generally don't care for drm like steam, so they buy off of GoG instead.
Also, how well is your commandos series doing? They haven't made a new one in forever, the devs who made them are basically defunct.
Face it, these types of games aren't very popular nowadays.

"The best I've played in years" which is specifically implying it's not being compared to Commandos, but then the turbo-autist reply anyway.

>There is no reason to not kill civilians
pretty dumb

If you don't like this game, why are you in this thread? Go make a thread about those far superior games then.
Instead of trying to shit on a game you don't like, discuss your favorite games, with people that like them as much as you. Go find some happiness in your life.

It's fine, it would feel dumb if I was punished for killing some pleb when I'm a ninja killing their lord.

If you don't want to kill civilians put that limitation on yourself.

Commandos 2 > Shadow Tactics > Desperados > Commandos: BTCOD > Commandos BEL > Robin Hood > Literal steaming piles of dog shit > Commandos 3 = Desperados 2 = Helldorado

Also Chicago 1930 gets an honorable mention for being a fucking rad premise with some great art, but an otherwise pretty shit game.

Shadow Tactics was really good. Nowhere near topping commandos 2 but it beat robin hood and desperados any day of the week.

>robin hood legend of the longbow that low

Have I seen you in a The Surge thread yesterday by any chance?
Its the same bitter angry kind of responding.

Nah, it should run on a toaster.
The maps take a long time to load, but since you spent like 1h on each map its not a big deal.

Honestly, anything above steaming piles of dog shit is good stuff.

Robin Hood is charming as hell and a damn solid game, but it's level design and gameplay mechanics just aren't as good as the others.

Seems pretty fucking neato.

Nice. I've been eyeing this game for a while, never made the push to buy it.

You sound like you're 12 and I'm pretty sure you never played any of the Commandos games for more than 2 hours because they became too confusing for you.

I know I am probably the only one but I just can't see feudal japan anymore when it comes to pre gun settings. It's so overused, especially if you consume more than games when it comes to japanese entertainment.

Blatant shitposting like this should be a bannable offense.

its meh

barely any improvement on a genre that is decades old

>Commandos 2 > Shadow Tactics > Desperados

That's basically all you need, the rest is pretty mediocre and/or didn't age well.

Name a single good Commandos clone that got released in the past 10 years.

But there are guns in the game
matchlocks and shit, yo

>actively shitposting and accusing people of being shills for a small indie game with zero marketing in an extremely niche genre that hasn't got a good game in a fucking decade and has been released almost 6 months ago

Firearms played a prominent during the Sengoku period though. Hell, while contemporary European guns were more advanced, the Japanese actually had more guns and more advanced tactics at the time, until 30 Years War and Gustavus Adolphus advancing tactics in Europe

I'll wait for the summer sale

50% off or bust

if you didn't buy the game on GOG you're cancer

yes
