Can someone explain this Americans meme to me? Here in south Texas you will literally get asked to leave most steakhouses if you order anything above medium. Sometimes if you're lucky they'll just say they don't have any steak left.

I have never in my life eaten a steak above medium rare. I would never even consider it. I have also never put any kind of sauce on my steak, just a little pepper and a little salt for chemistry, then some butter for color.
