OP here. Team Fabulous 2 is actually a pretty impressive piece of media. Like hollywood blockbusters and big critically acclaimed films like The Royal Tenenbaums and any comic book fuckery actually have worse pacing than a 17 minute gmod video.
It has a 3 act structure that can be followed with Tonal shifts (rising action/mayhem/resolution) and despite the adolescent quality of the music used within, it's all appropriately blended into what's happening on screen.
Perhaps most importantly it showed an artist's dedication toba new and primordial form of expression, and I think he managed to capture the soul of what he enjoys in the execution of the video.

It's very much a product of its time, when memes were quite literally memes in the classical sense of the word, extensions of a shared existence, and not just "here's something funny on the Internet."
Most people these days are too spoiled by the fantastic, professional-level work you see in the Saxxy award videos as a product of SFM.
There's no appreciation for the backbreaking labor it was to get anything resembling fluid animation in fucking Gmod. So there's an appeal for things stiffly moving along invisible wires, ragdolls being flung across and we just mentally fill in the blanks of whatever motion is trying to be portrayed.
