Lucy's escape in the first episode of Elfen Lied is actually great. The meme about why this show is overall not good is one of Sup Forums's great shames.

iirc Lucy dissapears (cant remember if she went to the island to end some shit or was fighting the crippled girl) but after credits theres a glimpse of her shadow on that house.
Never read the manga but i heard she fights a whole army of her species at the end.

The manga story is different and more convoluted. It wasn't done when the animu aired.

In the manga, her vectors become large it could encompass the entire planet but it uses too much energy and her body begins to fall apart. After the whole event is finished she is just a puddle on the ground melting away. She then tells the main boy character to end her suffering by shooting her in the head. Few years later the main boy character and his cousin are at some park together and see to girls that look exactly like Lucy, they even have the horns, the end.

I think she was just acting like Lucy's friend just so she could watch her suffer, then she acted like it wasn't her fault and Lucy saw through her bullshit and killed her along with those other kids.

The first Drakengard and Drakengard 3 were really edgy. But they were still fun.

The great flaw is how it completely butchers its source material with its cop-out early ending. The anime ends just before where the manga starts to really get interesting.

The anime cuts off with an open (to interpretation) ending where Lucy leaves and may or may not have come back later.

she "dies", later, someone knocks on the MC door at the end and at the same time the music box Lucy always had suddendly stops. it's left to the audiences interpretation.

on the Manga, she dies and sometime later the MC sees 2 little girls that are implied to be reincarnations of Lucy and Nyu. Pic related.

It's better than Akira where the title character was a main character in the manga while in the movie he was dead the whole time, don't get me wrong, I like Akira, but that's a huge fucking change

It's the combination of edginess for the sake of edginess, and badly drawn gore which puts people off.

It's only once you push through the first 20 chapters or so that the art improves to the point where it's finally easy to tell characters apart.

The source material was not finished, which is why the changes were made, and why the anime was ultimately a dud as an independent work, because it was structured poorly.

I really don't understand why they never either make the anime after like 2 to 3 arcs are finished like 30 to 40 chapters in or just make the anime series when the manga is finished because many anime seem to fall into this problem.

Undertale syndrome. Elfen Lied is babbys first weird anime (ie something not quite as normie as your Bebops and your Akiras) and saw obscene popularity and praise for its "depth" among the community for a few years after its release.

Regardless of whether the show itself is good or bad, this annoyed people and made it inherently controversial. Like Undertale here in recent times.

Well, Gantz has a lot of chapters full of dread. It build up a nice atmosphere of suspense with all the possible theories people had for what the fuck was going on, and they make you care about the characters.

Yes, the ending was rushed, but there was some really great chapters in the end, like the alien god and the ending of some characters like Cherry...

Yeah, lots of people shit on it but I thought it was ok, just not as good as Osaka. The Phase 3 Aliens were pretty meh, they were only a threat because they were giants. Osaka Aliens looked cool as fuck, specially the Tengu and the Inugami after they transformed.
