When I see people defend the crate system in overwatch why do they never bring up the game is still selling stupidly well. I see them try to defend that free updates require the loot boxes. Free updates keep discussion of the game going while attracting new customers or am I missing something.

They revaled it sometime ago. It is not that bad on paper, but since you can get the same item again it is really shitty actually. If I remember correctly you are expected to get at least one legendary item in 15 boxes. The real problem is the coin cost of the rare items. 3000 is a lot for an average player especially if he can't count on a steady income from dupes.
No wonder they only make legendary skins now. Even a few extra legendary widens the pool so much you have to be very lucky to get what you want.

It was $40 when it was released. Any non RPG AAA title nowadays is 8 hours tops and costs $60 with barely any replayability. The skin unlocks are barely different from any game where you have to grind endless hours for an item.
