yeah I'll be getting it. I like how different my playstyles have been with the various characters
Really good, but I feel shock needs to be nerfed
Yeah, I'm getting it
If it was $20 I would.
I'm liking it a lot and a bit more with each test punch. I hope they add a lot of content to this game because that's where I see a lot of the appeal of the game for me.
its cheaper when you order it from amazon
I might be retarded but is there an easy way to change where you character is facing or who they're targeting? So many times in the 1v1v1 or 2v2 I'd want to target someone else or got stuck with someone behind me kicking my ass but I felt like there wasn't anything else I could do
Dear god, Springman and Helix are drawn well but everything else is terrible.
Same. No where it's worth 50 or 60.
I just find it boring and too casual anyway.
Yes, press up on the d-pad
Besides that I've had a lot of fun with it so far and look forward to all the other characters and stages they'll have in the full game. Still a little on the fence about pre ordering but it was a lot better than I thought it would be
Nice, thank you
my arms are sore
I was working yesterday and today. There's one tomorrow, right?
10-3 in 1v1 matches today just by cheesing people with ranged lasers
I'm THAT GUY
post best boy
Fun
Probably will use GCU to get it at BestBuy, since I have the yellow joycons preordered there.
Sticks>>>Motion
fight me No Ribbon Girls, pls
ok
Yeah, no.
Oh it's $60?
*Breaths in*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
No.
>stand completely immobile
>can't hit through shield
literally all he has to do is jump or dash to either side and punch OR throw a curved punch.
shield is actually too weak when players know what they're doing because its tracking is so piss poor and it can't be easily retracted, which puts down your guard for dash/jump and blocking.
Yeah, but I've gotten pretty lucky with finding players who don't know what they're doing.
see fucking read
fuck yes I'm getting it
I still need to try out the motion controls, I just feel like I'd be wasting my hour with the game trying to adjust.
Fun fact, your fan's colors will change to match your alt colors. They also get upset if you do badly.
I'm not sure, maybe, it's not like I still have games to play though.
I didn't get in the testpunch. Same for Splatoon 2. I don't understand why they just won't do a regular demo like Monster Hunter's.
When's the first next testpunch in West europe?
Around 1 PM or so?
Get in? This isn't something you get invited into user.
I'm going to sell my Switch and get Street Fighter V instead.
>Mandatory motion controls
That alone was a deal breaker.
But I also hate the limited cast, the stupid gimmicks for the characters and stages, and and the lobby system.
That was also a big appeal of Splatoon, there was always something new in the game, it actually felt like a big something with every new improvement and splat fests and such.
...
You download a file from the eshop and then just play during the designated times, user. Were you expecting a Golden Ticket or something?
that because the test puch is not a demo and is not really there for the sol purpose of us trying it out.
They wana stress the games servers by by making as much people try and get in during short periods
its not mandatory motion controls, you can use any of the control setups you turd
Oh sweet summer child...
Goo-boy cant be stopped
>I don't understand why
They want to stress test the servers. Which is why they're setting up very specific dates for very specific lengths of gameplay. With pauses in between them so that they can make adjustments server side between sessions.
This way everyone starts playing at the same time, for maximum server load. Which is what you want if you want to simulate a realistic post-release potential server load.
Played with Pro Controller and had a lot of fun. Definite buy. Much more competitive fighter than originally thought it could/would be.
>I didn't get in the testpunch.
You don't need to "get in". In fact, you still have a chance to play.
codeborn.se
There are two sessions left for today. The next one being in a little under 4 hours and 50 minutes.
And then there'll be a second testpunch next weekend.
Everyone with a Switch can play. It's on the eshop.
>freezepop
oh shit, it fits.
Someone tell me there's lore that states how delicious Helix is
what do Blorps even do?
theres no Arms wiki detailing what the debuffs and different arm combos do
>you will never be good with DNA Man
Why live?
blind when charged. They're also heavy, I think.
DNA man / lord helix / noodlefag is basically Dhalsim both in theme and in playstyle
just keep your distance on the enemy and kite them with ranged attacks while they can't hit back because you're a stretchy faggot who can move his entire body forward for a closer ice dragon shot then stretch his body back and either stretch left/right to dodge or jump from stretching back or shrink
you're basically the nope.avi engineer except you have a gun on your face
I'm honestly surprised by how well single Joy-Con play works.
Looks like ARMS will be just as easy to play multiplayer in anywhere as shit like MK8, Metal Slug or Neo Turf Masters.
>amazon hasn't put up preorders for the yellow joycons
I signed up for the email alert but that shit never works
What the f
When?
June 16th.
>mfw its comeback time as permacharged spring man
THAT'S TOO LONG!
>pretty rad
MARIO'S A NIGGER
>mfw no Spring Man has ever succeeded in coming back
who is the best up closes fighter with punches only?
Are Guardians the best Arms?
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Tried the first test with mothon controls and the second with sticks. Movement is night and day and I would take the sticks by faaaaar. Can't wait for 3 weeks from now
woops, meant for
i'm laughing so fucking hard at this
probably Ninjara because of the invincible dash thing and being fast
Kid Cobra will probably be better when he's out
It doesn't have a lot of depth, and anything but 1v1 fighting is lame. I'll consider it in the future if the population can hold up. I could easily squeeze an extra month and a half out of Zelda while I wait for Splatoon.
nope. Ice dragons.
Not as long as THIS
*unzips*
literally how
it's been three months
2v2 fighting (non-volleyball, not 1v1v1v1) was fine
it just relies on you not having a braindead ally and then becomes immediately unplayable when one player is KO'd because you can't in 1v2
I get the feeling that 90% of players don't even know how to change their wake up.
blorbs are best
Switching camera perspective in this game is cancer. I'd rather avoid any mode where I need to change it manually.
So what is the consensus on motion? People shit on it but then there are people going "no no it's good, you gotta hold it right" (which people are unless I'm missing something, face buttons on the inside, thumbs on R/L). I played in 2 test fires and don't really love either control scheme, but pro is definitely less exciting
thats true but at least the match is balanced which is more than you can say for FFA modes and its not fucking retarded like volleyball
most people like button controls better but motion is just fine
I'd rank 2v2 above all other modes with >2 players, but I would still rather just play the main duel mode.
both need some work, but I prefer standard buttons because moving around just feels better. I wanna give motion another fair shake tomorrow.
1v1: 10/10
2v2: 7/10
1v1v1v1: 5/10
1v1v1: 3/10
1v1 vball: 2/10
2v2 vball: 1/10
does that sound about right?
this game has a fucking basketball mode too thats going to suck just as much
I can give you my personal impression. I guess I'll simply get good with time. But still.
>Motion Controls
I can punch great. Curves. Control. Timing. All awesome.
Can't properly dash or jump worth shit.
>Traditional Controls
I can punch. But I can't curve worth shit.
The timing of my dashes and jumps are all impeccable.
I did better with traditional controls. But I feel like that had more to do with my own failings than anything else.
also:
FUCK THE STAIRS STAGE
The basketball mode is designed around grabs, so it's no different than the current meta.
Using joycons, up or right stick
>tomorrow
Why not in 4 hours?
The stick's downfall is that it can only control one arm at a time, and can't do anything like widen your grab. If they only mapped one stick to each arm, stick controls would be superior.
1v1: 10/10
2v2: 7/10
1v1v1v1: 6/10
1v1v1: 8/10
1v1 vball: 9/10
2v2 vball: 10/10
Volleyball was the most pleasant surprise. It's amazing.
this, they said the stage is a battle for the high ground and then start someone on the high ground
even if the high ground advantage doesn't matter (which it might not), the stage is long and campy as fuck
>What did you all think of the test fire?
Online is very stable, 1v1 is best, vball can go die in a fucking fire. 1v1v1 is bullshit, whoever avoids the fight wins, 1v1v1v1 is more fun because it's more chaotic so the fights are more forced.
>Will you be getting the game?
Yeah. Probably won't play this as much as Smash but I can see myself playing this game a lot.
any of those will be fine with friends. Except the 3-way and 1v1 V-ball, though I did enjoy that mode.
yes
I've been awake all night that i hadnt noticed it was tomorrow already
I love you for knowing this band.
Played for the first time yesterday and had a blast. The next was at 2 AM here and I passed out before I could play. It's really addicting.
I want to get good with Helix. He was my very fist pick and I won my very first online match with him.
Can someone explain the elemental damages to me?
Also why did people hate on the Shield gloves?
I realized how FUCK THE STAIRS i felt when I was playing helix and extended myself to maximum height by holding jump and my enemy punched me in the fucking face because he's just on level
i guess I could exploit the dash ducking but eh
>
Fire: Burns target and knocks them down
Electric: Temporarily stun and lower the defenses of target
Wind: Creates a huge knockback effect
Ice: Stuns and temporarily slows down an opponent
Stun: Holds a target in place for a limited amount of time
Explosion: Creates a large explosion and knockback
Blind: Temporarily blurs the opponent's screen with ink
>ink
So that's what Helix' blorb did to me.
On any game with staurs/slopes, always try to contest the high ground
>mfw I'm Russian and can't afford the Switch
I just want to play some fucking games
t. turtlefag
...
there is lore stating that the blorb arms are in fact fruity and delicious
the best way to seize the highground is a single decisive grab that your opponent wasn't expecting
people hate on the shield glove because it dies to Revolver and you can't use 2 at once
each element gives the glove a different effect when charged: Fire causes knockdowns, electric disables their ARMS, Stun interrupts their actions and stops them from moving for a moment, freeze slows them down, blind covers their screen for a moment, and explosive does more damage after a slight delay. There's also typeless ARMS that have a few different effects, like getting bigger or punching faster
well slow down and maybe you'll be able to
So, is it good?
It seemed pretty lame when they announced it.
I feel like the only Master Mummy player, and no one knew how to handle going against him it seems, since I won nearly all of my matches using him.
There were some really close matches though, that hype when you've both got extremely low HP but the match is still somehow carrying on.
I didn't realize how to target different players during my playtime, so now that I know how I have a feeling I'll like the 3 to 4 player matches more.
motion controls are legit or a gimmick?
I'm exhausted explaining over and over
but yes, it's pretty good
If you have a Switch, give it a try. There's another testpunch in 3 hours 45 minutes, and another one six hours after that.
I think it's really good.
