silent japanese style swordsman who offer words of wisdom once in a while. and who of course die some point near the end of the game

why did this series never get a sequel? I'm not a huge fan on anime but really enjoyed this one, seems like a missed opportunity.

robot

cool guy who kicks ass and is only interested in being your bro and kicking ass, indisputably the best companion in any game

Cute mascot character.

only if they're not obnoxious

A real life one

is this Sup Forums the anime?

Not enough material from the manga.

Author decided to make Kantai Collection doujins instead of continuing the series.

Super powerful old man

Reminder that it sold like shit in nipponland and made the author salty enough to get the series axed

yup

Just like ABe...the Kancolle doujin circle claims yet another victim

essentially

I related to everything that happened and it was hilarious

Playing with a stick and talking about it being a chosen sword and then dropping that shit like it was hot when girls walked by and then just walking away in shame was my daily life in gradeschool with my other friends

that and acting like we were in jRPGs

nips have shit taste, more at 11

Who is best boy and why is it Depp?

freya, jump is useless most of the time but she's so hot

...

The ones voiced by Sugita. Like OP pic.

Goddamn Nichibros took me by surprise. I knew I was getting some real chuckles (I'd seen the whole Dragon Quest sequence before) but I didn't expect some actual thought provoking stuff and real emotions.

What the other user said about being able to relate to everything hits close.

...

I miss watching this. Genuinely funny shit.

Bathhouse Owner knew his shit.

what a fag, but understandable judging by

best girl right after tadakuni

Mages, especially if they're really aggressive.

There are only few actually funny japanese anime/manga:
1)Cromartie (especially manga)
2)Nichibros
That's it.

Anything non-human. Dragons especially. I'm a sucker for anthropomorphic characters. I'm not a furry.

I'm also a sucker for bad guys who turn good, and giant hulking suits of armor.

Any recommendations?

>no Azumanga

Plebbiest pleb in the plebland.

>no Nichijou

Sup Forums is full of normalfags now
They only watch recent shit, it's disgusting

>ABe draws shit now
He seemed an honest man...

Robots, lolis, and the undead.

My nigga

The knight guys who go the whole nine yards, speaking in ye olde english and constantly talking about justice and honor.
Like this guy.

What did they saw, Sup Forums?

nopan

Boatsluts are beginning to fall to the almighty Japari Park faction.

>No Teekyuu

...

I accidentally downloaded Danshi instead of Nichijou. I love them both dearly.

And then he ended that too.

where can you download nichijou? i'm stuck with the torrent im downloading

Any of them online? I wonder what him drawing lewd looks like.

Very funny too

Sorry user It's been a long time I don't remember. But I'm positive it's from piratebay or kickass (which is, as you know, dead now). I've only recently found out about nyaa kinda recently.

Manga or anime? There's a whole lot of drama going on with the nyaa replacement thing so I'm taking a break at the moment. ( )
/t/ has also had a few threads about this situation with people sharing their google drives and other stuff like that:
Please behave while you're on /t/, Sup Forums friends.

Nope
That would be Yassan

Damn I wish I could find shit like Nichijou and Nishidan funny, but I just can't.
It embodies what I don't like about most Japanese comedy.

The amount screaming and exaggeration that DRAGS OUT is just flat-out annoying. But the real problem is the fact that all characters have to literally spell out the joke as it's happening. I mean: the jokes are often not bad, and I like the whole observation humor combined with small bits of absurdity, but the way it's presented is awful.

I'm reminded of that famous deer scene in Nichijou:
youtube.com/watch?v=Z7Et0a8fnuw
This would be actually really funny. The premise is great. By why the fuck do we have also have a play-by-play narration in that scene, combined with annoying silly sounds?

The joke in that Nichi-danshi scene with dragon quest that characters the boys are switching characters too frequently is funny, but why the fuck does the main guy have to say "You are switching characters too often!"
Yes: that is the joke, we don't need it spelled out. And we don't need 15 seconds reaction shots coupled with noises the characters do too.

It's sad because every now and then they actually keep their mouths shut and let the joke play out naturally and it's fucking hilarious. Like in the older boys who play until the girl passes them. That is actually good comedy.
Or the famous temple scene in Nichijou, which is really damn funny until the fucking priest comes along and fucking spells out the joke for us again with 10 of "aaaaaah!" reaction shot.

I don't want to hate this: I like the observations, I like the characters and environment, but damn.

Even Azumanga is hard to watch for that very reason. Tomo needs to fucking shut up. Every scene she appears in is annoying.

The Japanese are not usually masters of subtlety.

Exaggeration and blatant, direct indications of what's happening is just how it is.
I agree with you on that scene and the feeling that jokes are often drawn out too much, but I always figured it was a budget thing. Sometimes if there isn't someone narrating a scene like that I don't know if the file or player is broken because there hasn't been any movement in the scene for a few seconds.

The guy who kills everything in 2 hits.

I find this style funny.

Try something else, because all that is in 95% of anime.

Actually, they really kinda are.
I mean, ever fucking read a book by Kawabata or Ibuse?
Ever studied Japanese architecture? Tasted Japanese haute cuisine? Japan is the culture that basically invented the kind of minimalism that still frequently considered the absolute aesthetical ideal across the entire world. Hell, adoption of their minimalist and subtle aesthetics in many ways ruined western art and architecture for decades.

Even in anime and manga: You have shit like Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Mushi-shi, Kino-no-tabi, Haibane... I mean if they want, they really, really can do subtle.
They just usually really don't want subtle in their comedy for some reason.

>but I always figured it was a budget thing.
This is a very reasonable statement, but I have two issues with it.
A) it being a budget thing is not really an excuse. Eva did do some marvelous things with it's terrible budgeting. So did TV Hellsing. It's either good comedy or not.

Second of all: I always thought budget played into this too, until I had the option to watch japanese stand up comedy, comedy dorama etc.. And they do this shit in their LIVE skits too. It's intentional, it's comedy staple, not really in any way restricted to long anime shows.

The worst part is: I remember time when it did not bother me, or bothered me a lot less. And that makes me angry at myself that I can't enjoy shit I used to enjoy.

Maybe it's just their version of canned laughter

>Actual good Animes simply die
>Shit like One Piece/Naruto drags on forever
It's not fair

Actual good anime simply end*

>It's not fair
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that good stuff needs to have a proper begining, ending and limited, high-quality story ark, which means that it will come, and go.
Meanwhile shit that has no proper ark and no quality control can be continued endlessly.

Seriously, most of that "good anime" was good precisely because it was inevitably going to die one day.

Don't forget that Japan invented the Pachinko Machine and paints their temples bright red. Japanese people are not the masters of subtlety that everyone (including the Japanese themselves) believes them to be. In fact I think that answers your question about their comedy. They truely believe themselves to have mastered the art of subtlety in all things, so their comedy is just another outlet of whatever the opposite of subtlety is called.

I hate it when ESLs decide to try posting. Sup Forums is for native English speakers.

What's the problem? He typed all that shit and you just entered the thread to give this one-off shitpost. "Sup Forums" needs more guys like that than yourself.

>Don't forget that Japan invented the Pachinko Machine and paints their temples bright red.
Few things about this:
A) They don't really paint their temples red. That is actually a Chinese thing and there - yet - it represents wealth, as red was an expensive color. There is a handful of places in Japan that uses red for sacred architecture, namely Nikko, but that was an intention counter to Japanese tradition: The Shogunate trying to assert it's dominance over the older, Imperial ideals.
In Japan, orange is SOMETIMES used, but really usually only for Gates or small elements. It's also because orange is sacred and wards off evil spirits. It might be related to the fact that Japan used to use an orange-colored antiseptics in the past, associating the color with clenlyness.
Still though, vast majority of of their sacred structures use unpainted (darkened by impregnation and age) wood, as it's belived to be most beautiful in it's natural and simplistic qualities.
Second of all: I fail to see how these things really relate to ideals of subtlety in art.

>Japanese people are not the masters of subtlety that everyone
They really are. The fact that they mastered it more than any culture that I know about (at least until modern era) does not of course mean that it affects EVERYTHING. Sure, a lot of aspects, especially mundane and popular culture is hardly minimalist and subtle, but still the official and high culture is quite obsessive about it through out most history, and they are as far as I know the only culture that developed extensive theory of why minimalism and subtlety is so important.

Seriously, if you know examples of other cultures doing this, I'd love to hear them: this is not ironic, I'm genuinely curious and you might know something that I don't.
But as far as can tell, they pioneered this shit like nobody else.

I do kinda agree with that idea that comedy like this might actually be an OUTLET to them though.

Konosuba is the only chinese cartoon that has even a semblance of comedic timing.

Anime are just ads for whatever source material they're trying to promote at the time.

DONT POST IT

I might check it out.
I think some of the Kumeta stuff (Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei) actually has good comedic timing and structure. Azumanga can be brilliant: there is really only just this ONE character that drags down the damn show every time she appears.
As for stuff like Nichijou and Nichidan or Sakuran... It feels like there is one fantastically executed joke for twenty good-in-theory-but-ruined ones.

>nyaa.pantsu.cat/
Search for it there, [RH] release is fast

It's the one everyone uses now since nyaa was taken down so Sup Forums and Sup Forums made a new site, they copied old nyaa's database and of course it updates regularly with new stuff. It's still being worked on for improvements and all that but it's the one everyone uses including nips which are the ones that carry these torrenting sites.

I never understood downloading anime. Whats the point than just watching it streamed online? Other than visual quality.

Less pain in the ass, you can watch it off line and don't have to worry about connection, it's generally more convenient... Also, if you don't want to pay for shit like CrunchyRoll, are there really all that many places where you can stream anime for free? I'm genuinely curious.

>visual quality
That's the reason.
A high quality 1080p (or higher) video beats a shitty 480p stream

Japanese humor is clearly not for you then. Every single Japanese comedy is going to be like that, a lot of people love it some others don't. There's ALWAYS tsukkomis and bokes

Also japanese as a language can have moonrunes(pretty much all of them) that mean very different things which is why most of their comedy is about MISUNDERSTANDINGS. Ever noticed that when a character introduces himself he says his name, and what each kanji mean(like, a name can be written with the kanji of tree and then the kanji of strong meaning strong tree for exampel) so that people would know how to properly say it?

>what's the point of wanting to watch a visual medium with better quality

I don't see a difference.
I bet you believe the people can see more than 30fps meme too.

>Every single Japanese comedy is going to be like that, a lot of people love it some others don't.
That is not entirely true. There are exceptions: I've mentioned a few - some Kumeta, some more bitter-sweet humor (like those few comedic scenes in Haibane, Mushi-shi, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo). You have Azuma's work like most of Azumanga, Yotsuba etc... Then you have FUMOFFU and the comedy in Full Metal Panic.
I don't mind tsukkomi and bokke either. And actually even in the shows I've mentioned that I have an issue with: the jokes are fine. It's the weird delivery: Which has nothing to do with Tsukkomi and Bokke structure.

>Also japanese as a language can have moonrunes(pretty much all of them) that mean very different things which is why most of their comedy is about MISUNDERSTANDINGS.
This is 100% true but again has nothing to do with my issue. Hell, the language jokes in Azumanga? BY FAR the funniest part in the whole show. Osaka's talk about Dolphines? The mame-jishiki joke? Those are fucking amazing. Yes - impossible to translate, but I have sufficient knowledge of Japanese to appreciate them. The insanely extensive name-related jokes in Zetsubou? I absolutely love that shit.

My problem really is with the delivery and timing: the expression, the reaction-shots, the doubling of joke by narration. None of that are problems inherent to Japanese language, or a matter of tsukomi-boke joke setup.

I mean my eyes are plastered to the bottom 2 inches of the screen anyway so I dont really care about the visual fidelity,

I wonder the same thing

Living in Finland so cheap unlimited bandwith is no problem here.
My phone has unlimited plan for 16€/mo
Home network is 100/100 for 10€/mo

Streaming straight to Chromecast is much simpler from sites than downloading torrents, then streaming into Chromecast.

Streams are 1080p easily

>Streams are 1080p easily
Resolution has very little to do with video quality, are you retarded?

...

Streaming is fine until you download that one series you can't find a stream for and you get used to the lack of loading times and grainy quality from shitty stream sites. After that you realize that if you wanna revisit a moment from a previous episode you really like you just double click the file and you're on the episode in seconds. It's just very convenient to have stuff downloaded in advance. I'll admit that some series like Re: Zero I'll just stream because it's new, stream quality is generally nice and I'll probably not revisit it with a sibling, but older stuff like Lain is much easier to just have downloaded already since streams take a while to find.

Don't even bother streaming old anime

REEEEEEEEEE
FUCKING GAIJIN GET THE FUCK OFF!!!
STOP PUSHING YOUR CULTURE INTO OTHERS!!!

Go educate yourself and learn about
日语:漫才/まんざい (Manzai)
you piece of shit uneducated gaijin fuck

you need to get your eye checked.
shitposting too much will affect your eyesight it seems

>this thread

...

You are the second guy who is actually bringing tsukkomi-boke into this, and second guy who seems to either not understand the complaint, or not know what the fuck manzai really is.

>no Sakamoto

Nigga had me in tears.
If it had aired during 2006 Sup Forums, we would see reaction images of him everywhere

By the way, if we really want to get to the roots of this kind of comedy and my compaint about it, it's actually the part more related from Kyogen and Rakugo, not Manzai elements that annoys me. Look it up.

Sakamoto has a lot of manga reaction pics, the manga got like 10 threads on Sup Forums when a new chapter released. The anime just attracted shitposters saying it was a fujo anime and it became so annoying people left the threads(personally I avoid threads of airing anime because it makes you get mad at the series). Anime was fun albeit it wasn't as funny as the manga

Great opening youtube.com/watch?v=f8d3bW42aFY

>Maybe it's just their version of canned laughter
Missed this post earlier, but I think it may be actually nailing it.
It feels like the shows need to give us actual clues where we are supposed to be laughing, and it feels cheap and actually kills the pacing (even more than canned laughter) of the joke. Damn, the three boys reanacting JRPG tropes are funny, I don't need a fucking cue and a laugh break telling me "comedy in progress right now".

A kindred soul, i see.

Difference is most noticeable in their eyes and in the background. The characters themselves hardly have any detail so it's hard to notice. If all you actually ever look at is text and the characters it doesn't really matter so long as you aren't watching 144p or something.

I want to watch it raw, without subtitles.
There's literally nowhere where you can stream raw animes.

That's my excuse.

EVASION
TANK

Even though he's objectively the worst in terms of stats and skills, he's too ridiculously cool not to have. Always went Chrono-Frog-Robo.

Looks lame

No lewds, just comedy stuff. The closest you get is this.

>he hasn't played Chrono Trigger
