Last time I worked, I temporarily moved back with my parents to help finance my fiance's education and rent while she tried to get a job. Then she dumped me out of the blue. Learnt my lesson the hard way, now I stay at my parents playing vidya and have absolutely zero plans for any employment or social life. Ausfag here, how do I find a job? I graduated in December, started looking for work well before that and the furthest I've ever gotten is an interview. I've talked to my uni's career centre and they say my CV is fine and all. My search strategy is mostly going on Seek, setting the category to banking and finance or administration and applying for everything I think I'm qualified for. As for location I've been going for both Mel and Syd.

Things I have: an okay degree (economics), an internship (at a financial services company), work experience (waiter + research assistant at the uni).

I'm probably going back to the uni of melbourne in S2 to do a masters (management/accounting) but I don't want to.

The good arguments for increasing minimum wage is it gives people more money and stimulates spending. It's arguably better for the businesses that rail against minimum wage increases. Their business is likely to pick up. A lot of young people do minimum wage jobs and they tend to spend money pretty freely. More money means people eat out more or buy more shit. I make $11/hr and just dropped $500 on an Agilent E5100A network analyzer for my bench. That's $500 that ebay seller who sold it to me now has in his pocket to spend.
