Franklin's story was fine until that literally who whore comes in talking down to him and giving him that shitass lecture about leaving the hood behind every black character is obligated to hear even though she's fresh off of getting engaged to some white doctor and hasn't spoken to anyone from the hood in however long.

I hated Franklin's friend, come at me, literally dragged him down with these shitty jobs for peanuts, sure he's loyal but he almost got him killed several times then when Franklin started making a life for himself he wanted a slice of his profits.

Franklin's whole story arc was "I wanna make money and get out of the ghetto" and it wasn't even halfway through the game when... he made money and moved out of the ghetto.

From that point onward the game only kept him around because it needed him for the ending.

How exactly was it "trying to be deep?" It was a story of Niko looking for someone from his past, and trying to make money by working with loan sharks and gangsters.

Anything "deep" in the story was just a natural reflection of the events.

Franklin clearly has a different mindset from most of his hood friends. he doesn't want to stay there. he doesn't give a shit about the "culture" and "keeping it real". He just wants to get out and be successful. And yet everyone around him is tearing him down for it.
