This happened to me but I paid full price at launch week. Genuinely the biggest buyers remorse I've ever felt.

Game awards are a popularity contest. The people who choose the nominees don't play actually videogames, they just look at what's currently popular.

Well, it used to be.

I can see the appeal. Characters feel unique, matches are usually quick, gameplay is inoffensive with some quirks.

They mixed all the logic of TF2, League of Legends, and some mobile gaming style gratification. You throw in Blizzard's experience and it prints money.

It's not for me, though. A casual game here and there would be fun, but the game feels like it was designed by a committee to be a product, not a fun game.

It's called Overmeme for a reason. All of the reason hero shooters have been vastly superior but this is a Blizzard game, so it's shilled and praised into oblivion no matter how bad it is.

Lawbreakers, Battleborn, Paladins, Dirty Bomb. All better games.

Pretty sure there could just be a LOZ puzzle game and it would sell like heroine in a crack den.

Only difference is LOZ even if it rehashes itself insanely it's still popular on being a game and not one giant advertising for virtue signaling and diversity.

Games being made for political or emotional statements usually have a pretty high popularity for about a year or less after launch date but everyone forgets them but they'll always remember every LOZ title.

I got ten times more hours out of it than you OP but that's still nothing compared to the other multiplayer games I like.

There's something about OW that makes every match the same experience with little room to create your own fun. I hear they added a server browser and servers with custom rules recently though. That might be interesting for a while.

Out of the hero shooters Paladins is my favourite. It's got a bit more variety thanks to the card builds.

Overwatch is one of the most numbing games I've ever played. It reminds me so much of mobas, not because of abilities or ultimates, but because of the general pace of most matches.

You spend a lot of time just shooting into a barrier, or trading shots with the enemy without actually advancing or getting kills.

That being said, I enjoy it. Overwatch is a game I can play when I'm tired and I like that. Its a really relaxing experience.

Well of course you got bored if you played for 6 hours straight. Doing anything for that long will get boring.

Everything that's not helping your team win is a good way to grief. You don't even have to actively sabotage anything just play a hero that's not in the meta and your team will implode from anger.

Hype can get your game sold but it can't keep it alive. For some reason loads of people enjoy OW enough to make it their main game and spend hundreds or thousands of hours.

If it had a campaign it would be a solid game.

But all you do is thrown into the same match over and over again.

16 good boy points seems fairly reasonable to pay for this game (as opposed to it's original price of 30 in the UK).

Gameplay is below average and the leveling system is slow as fuck and unrewarding, the solution now is to add third person mode for all characters. It would make skins have a point and it'd let me fap to witch Mercy during downtime. There is no other way.
