I'm in university for Computer Games Art and my lecturer a year and a half ago pulled up his Megaman video on the projector as part of a legit lecture.
Nobody laughed except him, everyone else just looked at their computers or phones.

Fair enough, but if that's the case then why do so many developers fall into the mistakes he points out?

Mistakes are much more present to the person playing the game than the person making it.

Think about cooking. You might think you knovked that omelet out of the park, but you won't know for sure until you take the first bite.

OOT restricts and dumbs down most of what made zelda 1, 2, ALTTP, and LA great. You don't have yo be proficient at the game to understand and recognize that.
One of the reasons Majora is better is because it acyually makes use of tye 3D plane and world more uniquely and appropeiately. It stops trying yo juat be "zelda in 3D lol" and triws to do something else.

I kinda liked the first album for a little while, but the second album being exactly the same showed up what little staying power they had. Can't even listen to the first one at all now.

Time, deadlines, budget, and interference from investors / other team members.

Also, many developers are old fashioned and stick to a formula, which is often tried true, and tested, yet leaves little room for innovation, hence why most games are either cookie cutter-tier or are cinematic focused nowadays.

These reasons are also why most kick starter games end up blowing balls out the gate.
