It was the last one before they went full gimmick mode

Well since the wii is literally a GameCube with more games I'm gonna say it's the wii.

It was the comfiest

...

>before they went full gimmick mode
>those micro cds
>GBA connect cables

I wanna say SNES

How big are the leaks senpai?

Great system

snes imo op

It is probably one of the worst ones along with the Wii U and Virtual Boy.
People love it just for the rampant gen 6 nostalgia that is exploding in the last years.

Only previews so far, no full episodes leaked yet..

GBA and GC era was the best thing Nintendo had
>Best game libary
>Solid system
>expensive but original and fun ◇
After 2009 Nintendo went to shit in light speed

Had gimmicks but nobody gives a fuck, even nintendo itself

Every Nintendo console pre-Wii had side gimmicks or experiments that were never required and maybe like 1% of games actually implemented them. It's hardly the same.

What do you think the Heaven Beetle had on its tiny beetle Sega Genesis?
Also, do you think the Earth Beetle had a tiny beetle SNES?

lets see
didn't both NESs have a gameboy player? And the N64 had the transfer pak

Literally every Nintendo console had a gimmick, the Wii was the first time the entire console was the gimmick though.

>Start going to Sup Forums in late 2005
>I loved my GameCube
>Most on Sup Forums either hated it or disregarded it

And now all the kids that had GameCubes are grown up and all serious about it maybe being Nintendo's best. Not the worst that could happen to this place, I guess.

You need to brush up on your retro console knowledge, friend. Gimmicks aren't anything new to Nintendo. What's new is them being a requirement, though.

The SNES had a function where a dedicated radio station would stream special games (like BS Zelda and others) that ran on a realtime clock and could only be played at specific times

The N64 had a similar experiment where there was very, very limited online play and connectability, but it never went anywhere.

The Famicom, AKA the Japanese NES, had a ton of weird gimmicks tried for it as well.

I'm missing some others, too, I remember there were like several different attachments that they made for the N64

Point being, Gamecube was by far the start of weird gimmicks, but the Wii was the first to make the weird gimmick the focus.

>What is the SNES

how are gba connection cables a gimmick?
How are the micro cds a gimmick?

IMO SNES was the best Nintendo console followed by a tie between GC and N64 than the Wii, NES, Wii U. Haven't tried the Switch so no comment on where it places.

>that copy of animal crossing

Nice.

no, the wii was.

because it can play gamecube games, with gamecube controlers.

along with emulating every legacy console and being able to play every game.

and it was simple a fuck to homebrew.

The Playstation was made from an aborted deal with Sony to make an add on for the N64, correct?
Or was that the Philips CDI?

DS > SNES > GBA > NES > 3DS > GCN > Wii U > Wii > N64 > GB / GBC > VB

Neither. The Playstation was originally a console made by both Sony and Nintendo's combined efforts. The older models of it had Nintendo's name on it.

i play dolphin pretty much everyday that console has exclusive gold on it

ps2 quanity
xbox quality
gamecube is sweet warm porridge

I wanna know the reasoning behind N64 being behind Wii U. I can only guess that you aren't talking about game quality.

It's the best couch multiplayer system ever. If your childhood didn't regularly include Goldeneye/Mario Party/Tennis/Smash afternoons, you did it wrong.

pls read my post again.

BARNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY

Is this barneybait? I can almost tell from the way it's cropped.

I'd argue yes but then I've got no personal love for the NES, I was a Genesis kid growing up so I'm biased on that, I think the N64 sucks ass and is hideously overrated, I don't even gotta say anything about the Wii, and while the Wii U was definitely a good system it died way too soon (I don't even mean this March, literally the only game of note after 2014 was Splatoon) to really compete.

It's my bias, but the GameCube in my opinion has one of the best video game controllers ever designed, it's number 2 or 3 for me.

The mini dvds were because of Nintendo's paranoia about piracy and they felt the mini dvds would greatly reduce piracy. Not a gimmick.

The GBA connection thing was a side accessory thing that wasn't integral to or a base component of the console.

Perhaps the most "gimmicky" thing about the console was its handle. Otherwise it's a great console.

Its steven universe
i know because i watched the show

Yeah, if you're gonna consider the GameBoy Player a gimmick, you might as well call Kinect and Move completely new consoles.

Not even close. The SNES is the best system of all time. Still love the GCN but it's tied for 2nd best Nintendo system with the n64.

>Yamauchi touted the GameCube as a machine designed exclusively to be a video game console, an approach which he considered different from Microsoft’s and Sony’s for their respective Xbox and PlayStation 2 consoles (both of which have DVD and CD-ROM playback functionalities, while the Xbox also features a built-in hard drive). This emphasis towards "performance only" and the creation of hardware that would allow developers to "easily create games" is what Yamauchi believed would set the GameCube apart from its competitors.
>Yamauchi also wanted the machine to be the least expensive of its kind, in his belief that people "do not play with the game machine itself. They play with the software, and they are forced to purchase a game machine in order to use the software. Therefore the price of the machine should be as cheap as possible." Nintendo hence priced the GameCube significantly less expensively than its rivals in the market, although the console’s games were priced identically to those designed for the competing systems.

Gamecube was meant to be a games first console, and it was killed by the PS2 with its cheap DVD player and easy piracy which made it popular among third-worlders. Good job breaking Nintendo, no wonder they decided to focus on a new target audience with the Wii.

How is DS higher than 3DS? And GCN higher than Wii?

Yeah, as much as I hate hearing Nintenbros bitch about 'Sony ponies', it really was he PS2's fault.

I had a ps2 because I'm a third worlder, I had no means at all to buy a gamecube here, but now that no one cares about them and they are argueably cheap, I got one, and boy oh boy, am I having fun.

This. I'm sick of gamers bitching about how Nintendo "betrayed" them with the Wii. You fuckers were never loyal in the first place.

gaming would be better off if the dreamcast and gamecube sold better.

Fuck off /vr/, id rather play AAA trash than bass fishing be the norm

stay fucking mad. the dreamcast is GOAT!!!!

Gaming would be better off if Sony never even made it to the PS2. It's not like PlayStation systems actually BRING anything to the table. the games on them would've just been released somewhere else. The systems themselves are generic garbage.

Ever since the PS2, they've been a parasite on the industry. There was never room for them. The backlash against their hubris with the PS3 proved that.

These are expensive as fuck here in Brasil

I wish I could afford more videogames.

And let's not forget the brand only became a thing because Kutaragi threw a fucking hissy fit over Nintendo not letting Sony take 100% of the profit of SNES-CD games. PlayStation is a brand built on spite.

It's definitely my favorite.

the gamecube is so fucking overrated. half you people who think it's nintendo's best console are probably people who had it as your first console or something. yeah, there were a good amount of quality games, but it had bad third party and just didn't have AS MANY quality games as the SNES.

>"but user, DAE melee?? dae le hidden gems like kirby air ride XD comfy af console!!!!"

>It's not like PlayStation systems actually BRING anything to the table. the games on them would've just been released somewhere else.

cant stress this enough. its even more insulting when the ps2 had shit tier hardware. i dont know what sony did to the ps2 but it looks like shit on modern screens no matter what you do.

Objectively wrong.

The correct order:
SNES > N64 > 3DS > Wii > GBA > GC > GB/GBC > DS > NES > Wii U > VB

Rating factors:
Quality > Innovation > Backwards Compatible > Quantity > Nostalgia > Multiplayer > Portability

Wii only places so high because of the backwards compatibility with GC.

Too early days for Switch but currently I'd place it between Wii and GBA if only because the lack of games. It's on the way to placing better than N64 and if it gets a simple enough softmod and decent homebrew community it'll even replace SNES.

Any other order is wrong, period. You can't dispute this.

>being this mad you were too young to play the gamecube

i was an n64 babby and had the cube when i got older fammer. also, the n64 is a worse console than the gamecube, yeah.

I love the irony of your greentext as if you're trying to portray us as the retards.
>le XD

first nintendo console to feature a controller that wasn't absolute shit

Granted the PS2 has a great library now, but that's mainly because it snowballed hard and publishers tend to gravitate towards the system that sells the most. The same thing happened with the Famicom/NES, it has ALL the third party games. The same thing is slowly happening with the PS4 now too, the main thing saving the Xbone is it's so easy to make games for.

you are the retard if you honestly think the gamecube is the best nintendo console. like, i don't even dislike the gamecube, i like it a lot, it's just clear to me that it's not the best nintendo has made. the 3ds has a better game library ffs.

God I wish more people paid attention to the Wii U. I really wanted that thing to succeed and I'm salty to no end that PS4 just coasted to victory this gen because of its brand.

Around the time it came out? Sure. I'd say WiiU is probably the best one now simply because it can play WiiU, WIi and GC games

You're 3 consoles off dumbass.

Should Nintendo coast because of its brand? And you say that but Sony did a lot of damage to their rep with the PS3 before it. Its done ok for itself on its own i think.

>Gaming would be better off if Sony never even made it to the PS2. It's not like PlayStation systems actually BRING anything to the table. the games on them would've just been released somewhere else.

Most of the best games on the PS1 literally could not have been ported to the N64 because cartridges just didn't have enough space even if you used multiple, which would then cost a fortune to produce.
The things playstation evolved was always storage media. First with CDs, then DVDs, and ultimately blurays.
It also had the only controller that wasn't abject garbage until the 360 came out and actually gave it some competition.

so we are just gonna pretend the saturn doesnt exist? ok

3DS has the better third party library by far. But the first party games on Gamecube are much better than those on 3DS.

this is a barneyfag bait thread isn't it?

The saturn had garbage hardware, though.
Sure, it used CDs too, but all the games looked like shit.
Better 2D, though. That's a plus.

So much more could've been done with the Wii U that people didn't even try. Could you imagine Jackbox games on that thing? Or a new Trauma Center? Or that Penny Arcade concept of the GamePad player being DM for a DnD game with others using Wiimotes? Hell, the opportunity to push it as the Wii HD everyone wanted with the Wiimote Plus as standard?

We got none of that and now the Wii U's only legacy is that of a laughingstock. That's not fair. It's just fucking wasted potential.

Lars dies and becomes pink after he is revived

I never knew anyone who owned a Gamecube.

you are so misinformed its not even funny. and the saturn controller is so much better than the ps1 controller

only if you're a millennial nostalgiafag

>Could you imagine Jackbox games on that thing?
Can I imagine a much clunkier way to play those games than just having everyone whip out their phones?
Why yes. Yes, I can.

C'mon, man. Just look at this shit.
youtube.com/watch?v=NgQP7JOqgsk

the hell do you mean becomes pink?

Chalk that up to using quads as its primitives instead of tris. Saturn was meant more as a 2D system, I think. Even PS1 was, it just fared better because it used tris. Only N64 was really built for 3D out of those three.

GC isn't overrated like the N64 and SNES were. It's been the most hated main Nintendo console before the Wii U happened.

The original Playstation and the Gameboy Color were my first console and handheld, respectively. I've played on the N64 at my cousin's as well as friend's houses in the late 90s. Later on I got the GameCube, which was a clearly superior machine to the PS2. A lot of my friends had PS2s then and they mocked me for having a GameCube, so I grew defensive about it.

It definitely wasn't as popular as PS2 but I had a ton of friends with a GC. Maybe you just didn't have many friends.

for the last few years kiddos who were born in 1999 have worshiped the gamecube. this shit gets constantly pushed down my throat. "dae gamecube was the best console?" "dae gamecube was underappreciated in its time?" "dae comfy???"

just downloaded a bunch of isos to play with my lil bros. thank god for the steam controller

also the n64 was hated for a long time because its controller is weird and bad and people circlejerked over the playstation. even from the beginning of the gamecube's lifespan it's had a better reputation than the n64.

You could still use phones with the Wii U, but the GamePad would've been great for stuff like that drawing game.

And it doesn't make sense why it didn't get it, because even the Wii got YDKJ 2011.

Gamecube and Dreamcast aren't retro.

if we are talking homebrew its the wii u imo

>hdmi

>built in wii mode

>nes, snes, genesis, n64, gb/gbc/gba, ds emulation

>native gamecube & wii support

>can use just about any controller you want with it

>mods for mario kart 8 & smash

>easy as shit to pirate for

great companion system to my pc/ps4

Literally no one born on or after 1999 has an opinion about Nintendo worth listening to. When console 3D is older than you are your opinion is worth nothing.

>GBA connect cables

that's like calling the SNES a gimmick console because of the Super Game Boy. it's just an add-on/accessory to the console itself.

My favorite controller, light, intuitive, and felt like butter in the hands.
but i have little girl hands

I mean he's fucking pink now

That image reminds me of this one

So what? It WAS underappreciated for its time. Most Nintendo systems are. People are too busy throwing their money at the PlayStation Another One and let Nintendo's system languish until they finally buy a used one and games at the end of the generation, and that's if they don't just pirate outright once they get the system for like $70. But no one had any problem paying full price $400 for the PS4 and giving Sony that mad moolah for a hackjob of a console.

The Cube is easily my least favorite Nintendo console.

Someone's been watching James and Mikes Mondays ;-)

>GBA
>Best game library
You are a joke.

>Literally Who and Literally Who Mondays
No I haven't

Although I don't think GBA has the best library I can easily believe someone else does. It has an excellent and large library. You are the joke.

Can't really blame them if it's their first console. It's in their nature since most of the GameCube worshipers are just starting college and are at peak annoyance levels. They are the children of the 6th generation. I mean, I kind of did that shit in 2010ish with the original PlayStation.

GameCube was a solid console but I would honestly place it as the 3rd best Nintendo console, after SNES and Wii. The original PlayStation was my first console and while I do have an attachment to it, I'm no longer going to pretend it was the greatest thing ever.

Yes you have, you saying Literally Who confirms it. Fucking pleb, can't even have his own ideas.

Just started paper mario ttyd for first time. What makes it so special?
