It's probably the best theme park mmo on the market right now.
Play the trial.
It's shit
Fuck commiefornia
>2.5 gcd
>community is either casual as fuck or autistic catgirls
>1-2-3 combo gameplay
nope
I don't know what you'd be looking for. It plays like WOW just a little differently.
It won't be refreshing and new by any means. I'd suggest trying other mmos or quitting all together. You're not going to get what you like since everything is p2w garbage.
It's shit but you may enjoy it.
Well it's the best after WoW, but it's not that great.
Having to play through 3 days (if you skip all dialogue) of main story fetch quests on level 50 just to be able to finally level from 50 to 60 sucks dick, and you'll have to do the same again at 60 if you want to play Stormblood. Don't know if Heavensward has even more main story quests than ARR. Anyways, the way gear progression works in FFXIV is pretty boring in my opinion, and i don't like their philosophy of designing bosses in such a way that if someone fucks up they just die. It's punishing, yeah, but in WoW a healer can pop a CD and help a player that made a mistake survive. You can do some improvise "oh shit" things in that game. In FFXIV encounters are very much a coreographed dance you have to do 100% properly. Not a fan of that but if you're okay with it you might have a good time.
Will there ever be a good fantasy sandbox MMO ever again?
I just wanna live a fantasy life with some friends.
If you have absolutely no desire for any form of PvP and want to follow a sorta neat storyline for a thousand hours, it's a good game for you. Keep in mind that in order to access Heavensward or the upcoming Stormblood content, you will have to complete the main story quests up to those points. This may take you a long time.
It does look good, it plays smoothly, and it has a ton of things to do to occupy your autism. I'd say give the trial a go, I guess.
thats how asians work, they have no improvisation or creativity so any deviation confuses them
Before 50 it's a bit weak, kinda an extended tutorial.
The game gets way better once you start digging into the post 50 stuff.
If you hate past final fantasies, and/or like to skip story/cutscenes, you shouldn't be looking at final fantasies in the first place.
Try EvE online, one of the last true MMOs left.
In WoW you could pretty much just space out and do all content solo, without guild or social interaction. LFR & group search tool just tilt player interaction.
In EvE you still need a team, some friends or at least a buddy to feel save.
You relie on other people to help you out.
Its a game with high risks and high rewards.
You allways feel on edge if you're in PvP or even PvE, because in low/null.security space or wormholes everyone can come and gank you.
Player interaction is forced.
You need an Alliance, and Alliances need Capsuleers to guide their territory.
Its a huge change if you come from WoW!
No.
They're not profitable because they end up only being fun for the 1% of the community who got in day one and manipulated the system to their advantage, making the experience unplayable for everyone who comes after.
You know, like real life.
What
If you make a mistake you should die
The ones making mistakes are always dragoons anyway, so they deserve to die.
Dofus is raising from the dead thanks to a massive server merge. It's probably the only good time to jump into the bandwagon, if you like turn based RPGs like Disgaea or FF Tactics
As someone who just finished a friend's MSQ for money this is bullshit. I did all of the 50 MSQ in one day. Granted it was a full neet day, same with Heavensward leveling MSQ then 60. These boosts should only be for alts and people who login like an hour a week.
>if someone fucks up they just die.
>It's punishing, yeah, but in WoW a healer can pop a CD and help a player that made a mistake survive.
Whoa dude playing the game is not fun. Dying in a video games? COME ON, IT'S 2017! You should be able to stand in aoe all the time and just press 1-2-3 combo.
Holy fucking shit i feel insulted just to know that i share this board with people like you. Fucking kill yourself braindead blizzdrone
t. MNK
The guy is semi right though. In XIV raiding like 99% of attacks are 1 shot kills, even the fast firing and seemingly trivial ones. The only reason XIV is considered hard is because the 8 player dynamic means that if 1 single person dies then its practically a wipe which is a bit excessive.
GW2 has more engaging combat that this snorefest
All I'm saying is that if you know a boss continuously casts aoes at your feet, you should be careful about locking yourself into a jump animation for a couple seconds.
I main DRK anyway, because I'm an edgy faggot.
OK gonna play FF14
Dragoon, Ninja, Dark Knight
Which one?
Or should I wait to play Red Mage?
Those are all my favorite classes from FF series
I played XIV for a while and I agree that the gear and fights are kinda boring. When almost every boss fight boils down to "stay out of the orange circles" it stops being interesting. There were still some cool bosses and I did have fun for a few months but it couldn't keep my attention very well once I cleared whatever new shit there was.
Oh, and somehow they managed to make gathering/crafting even worse than most MMOs.
It's the best one that isn't WoW right now. However expect it to be casual and not very PvP heavy, because it is.
Wait for Red Mage, all those other jobs are about to get fucked.
WAR
Savage doesn't have orange circles.
>fights are kinda boring. When almost every boss fight boils down to "stay out of the orange circles" it stops being interesting.
Try doing something more advanced than leveling dungeons.
Have you read his post? He hasn't even finished Haevensward. What raids are you talking about? He probably meant normal mode trials or dungeons.
You can't play Dark Knight until you reach Heavensward content which means getting through all the Real Reborn story quests first. I forget about Ninja, never tried it.
Dragoon is reasonable, just try not to be a dumbass like 75% of them. I would also suggest trying a WAR or PLD since tanks have absurdly short dungeon queues.
where. are. the. leaks.
DRG is solid. Don't be a mouth breather who jumps all willy-nilly and eats AoEs. NIN is good if you don't live on the east coast. DRK is a tank, if that's your thing.
Even easy EX Primals like Sophia don't have orange circles on most shit.
OK
Should I worry about fucking up as Dragoon when I used to be in a top 100 world guild as a Rogue during Vanilla and BC?
Well hes right about raiding though regardless. The dungeons dont seem too punishing.
>Which MMO should I play in 2017?
Don't.
>>Just quit WoW after being bored to death after 8 years
How the fuck can you play something that bored you for years? I get you just keep hoping it will get better but I can't stomach that shit for more than a few disappointing patches worth of content.
I played FFXIV from 2.2 to 2.55. When I realized they were never going to improve any of the core mechanics I just gave up on hoping. Had everything to 60, was rich as fuck, the most accomplished fisherman on my server, did Final Coil before lockout was removed. Just wasn't worth it knowing the game wasn't evolving to suit my tastes; It was just getting worse.
Until you reach raiding content, you don't have to really worry about much. Just don't stand in the fucking orange circles and try to be credit to team.
>to 2.55
>Had everything to 60
...you mean you had everything to 50 since that's what the cap was back then?
if you're burned out from wow you're not going to like this one
it's a good game in all respects but it doesn't really do anything particularly new with the genre
Fuck I meant 50.
>You should be able to stand in aoe all the time and just press 1-2-3 combo
Never said that anything like that.
If you think it's good design that pretty much everything in FFXIV one shots you're dumb. I like dynamic encounters, i like it when something unexpected happens and someone else can intercept and save the person, i like that team dynamic. I never said someone should be able to just stand in easily avoidable AoE all the time and not be killed. I just think that those unexpected bumps in damage and other things that happen are more exciting if you can power through it together than if the person just dies and you have to wipe the raid because you won't be able to do X dps check that is tuned so precisely that even healers have to go all out DPS on it. It's not fun. It's like solving a math problem. You do the exact same thing over and over again until you perfect it with no deviation. Might as well just play a single player game in which i'm the only factor
Leaks of what?
If I wanna play healer in XIV what do I play as?
So scholar's getting nerfed into the ground?
Just leveling CNJ up.
AST
TESO with the morrowind expansion coming out next week, I strongly recommend it over Final Fantasy.
Honestly find it scary how many people here on Sup Forums enjoy grinding in their mmo's
AST will remain relevant because he's a buff bitch
Stormblood skills. We got a DRK skill, a SAM skill, and one of the AST stances, and then nothing else except I think some translated versions of WAR skills we already saw in the LL in Japanese.
I want the rest of the DRK skill leaks so that WAR/DRK shitposting can finally get taken to the next level.
The problem is that if almost nothing one shot in XIV then there would be no challenge since theres so much time between moves healers could easily recover it all.
Nigga I know that, it's still "Stay out of the AoE or get one shot"
Shit gets boring when that's every fucking fight
You play erp mage until HW then switch to AST.
I know that, hence why i'm criticizing the entire philosophy of their boss designs and not just the damage. You can't just change numbers and it'd be fine.
That's fine, the game's mechanics improve from expansion to expansion, but the core will never change since ARR found the success 1.0 failed to even graze. It would probably require some sort of development like losing a high percentage of subs over an expansion to actually make them change direction in an attempt to bring people back.
It's wise to realize the core doesn't appeal to you and won't change, and thus leave.
Not everything kills you in one hit, the game has a LOT of one hit kill mechanics, but A. not every death is unrecoverable, and B. not every mistake instantly leads to death. It's disingenuous to imply literally everything kills you for every tiny mistake, healers are not an entirely static class, they expend a lot of MP based on the mistakes of DPS/tanks that isn't revives.
What is good about TSO? I heard it was a dead game
it's happening
You're close than you think.
that's bullshit but i believe you anyway
>MMO
>2017
>Should I worry about fucking up as Dragoon when I used to be in a top 100 world guild as a Rogue during Vanilla and BC?
Bullshit without some more tooltip images
I stand in aoe all the time and don't always die, you only need to know what kill and what doesn't.
>Crafting
>Worse than most MMOs
More fun than WoW's "press button to make" bullshit. Gathering I'll agree is cotton field picking. However crafting is way more fun than WoW's auto creation crap.
>Deleting your post to make it look more authentic
Solid
You wouldnt know this but positioning used to matter in WoW
>Hi there my wife's son commissioned this art of my wife's character and her bull and I felt I had to share it.
Dragoon has a very static rotation. The only "difficulty" comes from optimizing your DPS in off-gcd tweaks.
What were the skills leaked? I cant find anything in the archive
if you were in a top 100 guild you wouldn't be asking such retard tier questions
>he doesn't know about his imminent cuckolding
I don't really understand when people just do a driveby shitpost complaining about FFXIV's crafting without voicing any specific complaints about it.
The fact that it's more or less actually its own game that you have to learn with just as many abilities as any combat class kind of automatically places it above crafting in pretty much any other MMO I've tried.
I could get if the complaints were about something like "Rath's Rotation" nearly making anything else obsolete, but I wouldn't shit on the entire crafting system in general just because of one unbalanced oversight.
how is RP on FFXIV?
for wow there's a sizeable community and you can keep away from all the degenerate shit thanks to elwynn acting as a quarantine
Yes, yes. We'll throw you our scraps so you can get a little damage done when we're forced to group with you.
my only complaint is the necessity of leveling every crafter and that in the endgame you really just follow a set rotation (I can't really confirm this)
Only unofficial servers, that have some dedicated roleplayers, but there is A LOT of degeneracy.
Meta will be nin/brd/red/sam I'm afraid.
>red
-800 potency aoe for sam on 2 min cooldown
-AST diurnal stance gives 15% healing potency boost , no casting speed boost.
-Delirium no longer debuff int, instead increase blood weapon duration and blood weapon effect duration ( whatever that means ).
Maybe some other user can post the pictures, I didn't bother to save them.
yes, it must truly be horrifying for you to play with beings vastly higher intelligence
Supposedly:
DRK's Delirium is a 2m cooldown instead of a combo attack. Restores MP, extends Blood Weapon by 8s, extends "Blood Weapon effects" by 16s. (No information on what Blood Weapon 'effects' are)
AST's Diurnal Sect loses the 5% attack speed buff, and instead gets a 15% buff to healing.
SAM has an AOE OGCD with some weeb name that does 800 potency in a line, and might have had AoE falloff like Flare/Holy (I actually just don't remember if it did or not).
Be ready for a whole lot of 14-year old Naruto RPers who insist on spamming chat with cringey weeb bullshit when all you wanna do is dodge some fucking orange circles.
My blacklist is fucking massive, and is about 80% drooling weeb fuckstains.

>trust me guise i'm platinum.txt
Don't know about RP community but in terms of RP potential FFXIV blows everything else out of the water due to how dynamically player characters can interact with each other. For example the simple fact that if you target something your character actually turns its head and looks at that thing. Makes conversations in the game more fun because it feels as though you can do some body language and mimic beyond just emotes (For example, looking away while thinking, then turning your head again and what not)
Not even close to true since the first tier. Mistakes were much more recoverable in the last 2 tiers of the raid
...
Those leaks were fake. Had grammatical errors.
Red Mage uses FFXI Bar actions. That is all i know.
Only seen maybe 3 skill tool tips so far. I should check sentai.
A japanese game with cat girls that attracts bottom of the barrel anime nerds. What do you think the RP is like?
Yeah cause those never happen in this game
FOUR DIGIT UPVOTES
LINK FOR COMMS
That was my first thought too but the Twitter reaction from the brown-nosing Reddit staff turned me around.
And "The text is fucked up" doesn't really mean that it's fake anyway. DRK's Sole Survivor skill on release was worded in such a way that made it sound like you placed it on allies who were about to die, rather than enemies.
>Is ff14 good?
no
>Is ff14 good?
Yes
It's an mmo, all enemies scale to your level. Instead your character grows by leveling up attributes (health, magicka and stamina) and unlocking combat/crafting/non-combat skills and unlocking passives. Once you max out your level (level 55?) you unlock champion point system, which is more passives you can control how much it benefits. Main roles are dps/healer/tank with now 5 classes but they are very flexible relatively (your healer can dps half the time and tank can buff and debuff your team and enemies.
Also factions based for pvp, there's an open world hub pvp with deployable siege weapons to de-emphasize player versus player meta. In general you can avoid min-maxing unless you wanna highscore your endgame content (no benefit to it but bragging rights).
I have no real numbers on players but I play on xbone and it's big enough for me really. Base game is 8.99 USD so I reccomend you try it as a cheaper alternative for paying more money for subscriptions.
Also eso is buy to play, there is a subscription model but you hardly need it, at all
