Looks like NMS, ie boring af.
Nah, NMS didn't have an actual story
You think this game will have one? The story is the first thing that gets affected by a big open world.
I've never understood whats the point of having "mega huge open world" with 54684 planets. That won't replace the work spent by a dev in terms of character design, gameplay design, level design, etc.
The real game won't look 1/100th as good as this demo
>Prototype
Now wait another 14 years to next announcements something new
Wow it's nothing
WE
>That won't replace the work spent by a dev in terms of character design, gameplay design, level design, etc.
No it won't, but that doesn't automatically mean there won't be any. It's possible to have a big open world with all of those things spread across it.
Ancel specifically mentions how the sotry will shape the environment and vice versa
Designated shitposting thread is
>Gameplay
Where?
no man's sky reloaded. dont believe these faggots
``[]..no loading...[]''
lol
Why is he showing this off as if its anything impressive in the first place?
What the fuck does flying around in a space ship add to the overall experience? Who wants to do that? Imagine Mass Effect, only in order to get to your missions you have to fly to the planets they're on.
Sure its cool, but what's the point? It adds nothing to the experience. Why show something so fantastic instead of something solid, something players can feel familiar with and grasp on to. This feels directionless and backwards. Save the fantastic stuff for AFTER you have an actual game
Totally 1 year exclusive for Switch lads.
>being able to physically go to your destination instead of teleporting
>adds nothing to the experience
I want the fast travel generation to go
not an argument
No Monkey's Sky
>Empty planet with 1 city and a 2fast4me space ship so you never have to walk
I really hope they plan to flesh out the environments more.
It just doesnt feel like BG&E right now. Where's the charm and lighthearted nature? Also these promises are NMS tier and we all know how that turned out. Seems too ambitious for its own good, even if I want to believe they can pull it off.
It is impressive if it will actually be implemented in the final game, which it won't. Unless the guy is super genius that can take parts that are relatively simple and make a whole that is complex and feels alive he won't succeed. I mean i hope that he will but i won't hold my breath.
ubishit openworld, walk to the icon and begin one of five cookie cutter funtivities
collect all 200 things and get an achievement
the problem is why show this shit FIRST
>Where's the charm and lighthearted nature?
Still plenty of that. I can recognise the tonal shift but I don't get people saying it's completely different.
I think Ancel is doing his own shit completely separate from the Ubi formula.
because
>muh engine
In this case i would have prefered these kind of trailer :
youtube.com
youtube.com
Not watching a fucking empty open world and hearing a guy bragging during 15 mn about "muh scale".
>Why is he showing this off as if its anything impressive in the first place?
Because it's probably the only thing they have to show off.
So where's the gameplay? All he did was fly around looking at things. Every game has that, it's called noclip.
>Gameplay Prototype Walkthrough
There was zero gameplay, that was a tech demo
Reminds me of when Molyneux would talk about Fable. It's either going to take forever to come out or they'll scrap 75% of all the shit they talk about leading up to release. I'm still waiting on actual gameplay footage though.
why start with this? why start a cake with the fucking icing
FOOKING
>Unique
This isn't unique at all.
So. Where the fuck is Jade and her Pig father figure guy? What the hell does an open world space explorer thing have to do with the previous game about being a sneaky photographer exposing the actions of bad people?
The fuck is this?
It's the story of how Space Africans (Aka the animal people from BGaE) colonized Hillys.
Imagine creator of Space engine got that amount of money from publisher...
Because people fucking buy that shit
Big numbers = Better games = Bigger sales
That's how normies, nerds and kids think, aka 90% of people who buy games
Oh good, I don't care at all.
It's still about being a sneaky photographer and exposing the actions of bad people, apparently. But this time getting a spaceship isn't the end of the game.
>Gameplay Prototype
See you in 4~7 years
Becuase, unfortunately, people will believe it and will start to generate hype.
Look at NMS.
The first game was a tightly controlled progression through a very deliberately designed game world and story. Like a sick sci-fi Zelda.
This just seems like It's going to completely abandon the structure, focus, and pacing that made the original special
this feature looks pretty cool desu
See that monkey?
>Ubisoft shows prototype gameplay=game won't be finished for 5 years
>Nintendo shows a logo=game will be finished by 2018
I think it's too early to tell. Zelda itself also went massively open world this year. And The Witcher 3 showed you can combine an open world with a tight narrative as well. Ancel specifically made a point in the demo to talk about integrating the world and the story. Whether they pull it off is a different matter but the intent is there.
>2018 and beyond
lmao
The autistic anime has a point. Ubisoft has more people working in a dev team than the population than a Baltic state, they shit out Asscreed games and Far cry every year, and every one of them is bigger than the previous
>And The Witcher 3 showed you can combine an open world with a tight narrative as well.
The narrative of Witcher 3 was the opposite of tight.
Unless you are just using it as a synonym for "good"
YOU CAN SHAG IT
Looks like fucking garbage.
The BG&E team has always been said to be a small tightly controlled team, although I suppose that could change now.
>That zoom from character model to solar system
Shit, I'm sold
>reveal a long avaited sequel to a game
>it's prequel
>mc is literally who monkey
>gameplay is something completely different
Wew. Crash already.
>Ubisoft has more people working in a dev team than the population than a Baltic state
Lithuania alone has 2 million people (and dwindling)
Ubisoft Montpellier are only about 150.
I appreciate them showing acting real-time engine instead of cinematic dogshit, but until we see actual gameplay I'm writing it off as No Monkey's Sky
I believe Spore did that shit first.
5000 kmph
>360 and go back no fucks given
You can create your own character or choose who to play as or something like that, I forgot the details
You normies are worse than battered housewives
How many fucking games showed that gimmick, got ten million preorders and ended up being shit?
Spore was the first big one, and we get a new one every year. "Space Adjective, Early access, you can do anything!" is the top seller on Steam every week
I thought No man's sky would wake people up, but nope, it still works like a candy in the public pool
games that demo with a freely moving space ship that leaves the atmosphere, orbits for a bit, and then returns, never come out
Ever tried sitting through the credits of Assassin's Creed?
>Don't le people dream!
Fuck you, some open world Cowboy Bebop game has always been my dream.
And I know Ancel can fucking do it.
Now fuck off.
i wonder if we will be able to play with our friends
Is it really the exact same people every year, though? I wouldn't be surprised if they staggered teams like the CoD games. Those credit lengths are real, I'll admit.
Ancel is not some master coder like Carmack, he is only a (good) game designer. This is a programming problem, and even if you solve it, it affects everything else
>Let people dream!
Wake up, your hand is in the toilet
>You think this game will have one? The story is the first thing that gets affected by a big open world.
Its a narrative driven open-world game. Ancel already mentioned BOTW as an example for what they're aiming.
>Ancel already mentioned BOTW as an example for what they're aiming.
All the hype I had left is gone
