KoF XIV

why is nobody playing?

>game has 50 full-fledged characters (not including newly added dlc chars) with arcade/story mode plus endings for all teams
>variety of online modes including online training, tournaments, and single & party vs.
>even combo/trial modes with an unlockable museum of KoF art spanning all the way from the very first games

This game feels like it has so much effort put into it compared to other fighters right now, but no one's playing it over shit fighter V because "the graphics are bad"

fuck this gay earth (I just wish I could find people online, dammit)

I have a toaster. 600 hours in 2002UM though.

Everyone quit because of Nakoruru and shit tier online

I've heard that the online isn't very good

artstyle is too animu. it's not realistic enough like tekken, doa, or vf.

Don't know why they haven't fixed the online slow fps in match problem yet

>has to beg for players on/v/
>can't start a thread without mentioning Street Fighter
I came here to laugh at you.

Why doesn't the game have Krizalid? He was my favorite character on the Dreamcast version.

dead

maybe they shouldn't have made the characters look like ass

Is it really still a problem? I play with a small group and our matches are totally fine. I do remember it being an issue on release though.

Post mains.

english speakers really don't fucking play it all. unless you live in cali, theres no-one to play with, local or online matchmaking. despite what Sup Forums might tell you, even this board prefers matchmaking over a regular lobby

Vice, Shingo, Yuri, Terry, Kyo-2

my dude

also starting to really get into Yamazaki

BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, and Injustice are all better value for your money

It's not.

Yes, I've had that problem until I read the solution for it on the steam forums.

The game is too hard for the major casuals that are the fighting game community

>villains

Newfag to fighting games here, how are blazblue and guilty gear different from each other, and which games should I be playing to prepare myself for DBZ fighter? I have probably 40 hours on street fighter V and I hated it but I bought revelator about a year ago and I'm going to start playing it. Or I can pick up a Blazblu on the current steam sale if it's better.

>mamahahax100

fuck this shit

Nobody cares about your shit game.
People just pretended to care to fool you into buying that piece of garbage.
Good job.

>the graphics are bad
Yes. The graphics are bad. And graphics is one of 2 most important things in a fighting game.

It's not street fighter

because there's little point in playing fighting games in multiplayer and most people are too lazy/ don't have people to play with locally

Tekken 7 is also not street fighter yet a lot of people are playing it right now. Even blazblue and GGREV have more players.
Kof XIV is not a good game. Face it.

I'm a newfag when it comes to SNK fighters, so I have a question. Does this game have that forced 3 character team thing that I've seen other KoF games have, or can you just play the game with just 1 character? That's been the main thing affecting my decision on whether or not to buy the game.

>Does this game have that forced 3 character team thing
yes

I try to host a room or two every day on Steam. They fill up, so the game's at least not totally dead.

I tried one solution for it, but it didn't work very well. I have no idea why they haven't patched it.

I think the stupidest part is that people don't know it's a bug, they'll play out the fucking 10 fps match, and then quit. Nigga, if you want to quit the match, do it right away, don't wait it out and quit. If you wait it out, the bug goes away.

It's a shame, other than that bug the netcode has been great. I can play euros and even some good connection Brazilians with almost no noticeable lag.

I wonder where all the KoF shitposting niggers went after the fame launch so much for a SFV it MKX killer

Yes, but the option for 1v1 is there. It's been there for nearly every game. The only main one I can think of that didn't have it is the fist one.

>Does this game have that forced 3 character team thing

I mean that's KoF's entire schtick, being a crossover fighter
It's like Marvel vs. Capcom but with SNK franchises

There are several single-character only modes to chose from. 1-on-1 matches are common.

When is it coming to Switch?

It's a 3v3 fighter. Characters are much easier to learn in KoF, though. There aren't very few specific links, no counter hit combos that you have to learn like in SF. You only need to know about 3 combos per character.

Learning the system is much more important than learning characters.

There are* very few links.

Maining Terry is suffering in this game tbqh.

This isn't a logical conclusion. Something can be good and not be played by a lot of people. Please try again.

seems like it has a small community, plus im enjoying Tekken 7 atm

I'm going to play some of it on PS4.
IF I can get this fight stick alpha mod finished.
(Put some sanwa sticks and buttons in. Just need to wire it back up properly now)

I like the sleepy pillow guy. He's not the best but he has some interesting moves.

He's very good.

>graphic extends a full inch out of the damage box horizontally
>damage box extends a full inch past the graphic vertically

Jokes on you, buddy. I'm having tons of fun with it.

youtube.com/watch?v=es_ML4ESSKY&feature=youtu.be

What I like about him is that he's pretty competent both up close and fairly far away.
Meaning you can mix up your strategy with him, mid-fight. Play keep away or get in and snipe a combo.

Plus he's a master of Pocket Sand. What's not to love about that?

>invincible
>juggle afterwards
>only -8 with asinine pushback on block.

It's a good move, to say the least.

>kof 14
>good

>bought kof on release
>went to local fightan meetups
>no one plays it
>spend my time playing GG with the few people that play that
A sad display

>no Metal Slug characters

And no, Team Ikari doesn't count.

GG is more similar from what it seems like right now, though honestly there are alot of differences. Not having throw reversals changes the game completely, and Dust being turned into an unblockable rush even moreso. Just pick whichever you're interested in, though the game it's looking most similar to right now in terms of actual gameplay is Arcana Heart ironically enough

>posting gameplay from ver. 1.0

nice job, my dude

the most important things in a fighting game is.

how much money you can make by playing it

if the fgc cant make money from a fighting game, the game is gonna be a corpse in a year.
it doesnt matter how bad or good the game is.

everybody shit on sfv, but is the fighting game that most people play and its gonna live till sfvi release.
everybody loves rev2, but nobody plays it and its gonna fall into oblivion in a couple of months.

>why is nobody playing?

Because most people bought Tekken for cheaper two weeks before. SNK or whoever made this mess was an idiot for not just porting it to PC months ago (or hell just have a simultaneous release with consoles). Charging full price for a year old hand-me-down when Tekken 7 JUST came out was suicide.

>All those SFV thread ruinined by shit posters saying this game will take the thrown
>see this thread

Either go with throne or crown, not a mixture of both.

What

I just bought it, will play it all weekend long.

When I have time off from the wife and kids

So practically never.

Forgot my proofs

Haven't played Tekken since 5, so I'm not quite sure of the Changes Tekken 7 been through, kinda looking to jump back in since it looks cool as fuck, but hasn't Tekken 7 been playable for two years? I see that year old argument used against XIV, but isn't Tekken 7 actually older? All I know is that Tekken 7 has gone through character additions and balance changes, and so has XIV. Has Tekken 7 gone through any major gameplay changes before I jump back in?

>50 full-fledged characters
Who look and animate like shit and even after the patch the game is still best poke to max mode combo

>arcade/story mode
That is just standard, not having that would mean you were below standard

>variety of online modes
Which still doesn't have great netcode, plus no one plays these stupid modes after a month

> combo/trial modes
Again standard

> unlockable museum of KoF art
I already have the internet

He's saying that laughing negro can't spell/into proper grammar.

>Spending 250 dollars for something you won't even get to enjoy
Why

Bot him, but his money. If he chooses he's free to light it on fire.

>. Not having throw reversals changes the game completely
yes it does, throws are now one of the rush moves and the punch rushes are the throw breaks

you're rigth he's also free to jump off a mountain that doesn't make it any less fucking retarded

>Buy game thats suppose to come with all DLC
>It still doesn't some with alll DLC
Holy fuck Arc are such fucking jews with GG I don't know why peo0ple are hype for DBZ fighter when they do shit like this.

my point was SFV lacks all of this, yet is several times more popular, undeservedly.

>SFV lacks arcade mode
>SFV lacks combo/training mode
Mexican KoF nigger fuck off
>Doesn't have a varaity of game modes
Player matches
Ranked matches
KoTH Lobbies
What else do you want double nigger?

>BUT SFV
Yes a game everyone hates on and has less people playing than Tekken.

Saying we did better than a shit game is not saying anything, especially when we do that KoF lacks stuff like a proper cinematic story. Maybe, KoFXIV isn't actually all that good

Xrd Sign > Revelator > Rev 2

Yeah, it's really jewish but I hate not having all the characters. I put it off for what feels like two years, if I didn't get it now then I probably never would have. Steam sales just aren't what they used to be.

That's the power of a strong grip in the west, e-sports, drama (for other games too) and money, man Some people are making a career out of it. It's making capcom make some shitty decisions in regards to their fighting games and in cases making quality. A shame too since I loved the fuck out of their older stuff. I think that is causing the biggest potential customer base for these games (casual players) to not stick with it as long. Even evo numbers seem to be down in comparison from last year on all games except Tekken 7 which are only very slightly higher when compared to last year. In short in regards to fighting games, e-sports was a mistake.

>Maybe, KoFXIV isn't actually all that good

It's good, it just doesn't have the budget to compete in spectacle and modes like Tekken. Tekken 7 is really great and I want to get my hands on it next sale, but modern fighting games are closer to an fighting single player story game, if that makes sense.

People like me that no longer have 6free hours of gaming time a day still love these games and buy them but we'll never gitgud, but I still want to experience them. Usually I play fighting games for about 50hrs before moving on and I reckon others in my situation are more or less the same. Stronger single player content means more stuff to do when you are perpetually stuck in gitgud territory.

Vidya is a hobby after all, not a job.

more than 16 characters at launch would be nice

Would you say it goes along with what mentioned?

That is literally your only valid compliant on the list

But is the offline/single player good? I don't want to waste my time fighting legit retards online.

Not to mention Scamco always cut content for pre-purchase DLC/season passes, and will undoubtedly pay for Denuvo instead of GGPO.

>MUH REALISM
>MUH TEKKEN IS NOT ANIME
>MUH FEAR OF WEEBS EVEN THO THEY ARE JAPANESE GAMES

Why do black people love fighting games so much but don't like KOF games?

It doesn't have a cinematic story like GG or Blazblue, but it does have an arcade mode with endings for all teams and tons of artwork to unlock.

>it just doesn't have the budget
Boo hoo not my problem. You can make a good game on a small budget and they didn't. Arcsys are poverty as fuck but they put the work in with Xrd and now have the DB license, hard work is rewarded.

> but modern fighting games are closer to an fighting single player story game
And kofXIV really doesn't offer that much. You want to look at a game with an interesting variety of modes looks at NRS games. Basic ass arcade and trials doesn't cut it any more. At best XIV has okay features most of which are generally considered standard. Meanwhile Arcsys is still throwing free story stuff at me.

> I reckon others in my situation are more or less the same.
And other games large an small are still able to maintain a community, XIV has been dead since release.

If 20 years ago, I played Tekken, KoF and SF, which I did. Then it wouldn't matter to me how none casual friendly they got over time cause I would still eventually buy them if A) The price was right and B) on the platform I own.

Chasing the casual crowd by dumbing games down is in error since casuals only care if a game is popular, not whether if it has more modes, or features or gameplay. They give no fucks if their friends aren't play it.

>why is nobody playing?
because you bought a fighting game on pc, might as well have bought the n64 starcraft while you were at it

>might as well have bought the n64 starcraft while you were at it

Good times.

>user stop staring at my screen REEEEEEEEEEEEE

I did? Could've sworn I bought it on PS4 when it launched. How silly of me.

This is an easy question to answer:
CEO results:
10 unique characters for top 8 SFV
10 for Tekken
8 for GG
KOF has a roster that's roughly double or triple some of those games and you have mirror matches! Granted, it's a TON better than launch day BirdDay but it's also a light international tournament as well. The KoF qualifier SNK held was mirror matches across the board, and on a roster of this size that's dull and unacceptable.
Add to the fact that these characters haven't changed at all, outside of the games' subsystem, and it makes watching someone play Iori/k'/Kula against NewGuy/Beni/Robert feel like you've seen this for years already.

I LOVE ANGEL

I play KOF2000 also that 98 mobile game almost everyday. The game is fun though

well technically since Verse contained all the souls of the previous fighters, krizalid included, he could come back since verse released all the souls when he died.

Character variety is not the greatest, but it has changed from before. Link related are just from top 4's across tournaments. In CEO there were 10 different ones and across the top 4s of tournaments that happened of the same weekend there were 29. After the most recent patch most characters are tournament viable, but i think part of the reason we still see a lot of the same characters are because they've always been strong since the beginning. In other words, some of them may not have such a huge advantage anymore, but if your main characters have always been decently strong and still are why bother changing. Many of the more known KoF top players have released tier lists and they mostly look similar with some slight variations.

twitter.com/gatoray_kof/media

Shit posted wrong link.
twitter.com/gatoray_kof/status/876472190379507712

Damn really? Never knew that? Always assumed Kof wass its own thing. In that case how come the Metal Slug characters aren't in KoF?

In a 3v3 game they only managed the same as SFV and Tekken, with incredibly frequent mirrors

It really doesn't matter if you get two unique characters each time in a sea of Benimaru and Kulas. 90% of the matches you watch are gonna have one of the characters you constantly see.

Nearly every team is gonna have 2 of the characters we always see then maybe a random pick.

So that one has an idea of what the tier lists look like it's pretty much something like this with some slight variations

>2D
into the trash it goes

I mean sure, but your comparison was across top 8, the ones I mentioned was across top 4. It's not an exact equivalent. Also as mentioned
>After the most recent patch most characters are tournament viable, but i think part of the reason we still see a lot of the same characters are because they've always been strong since the beginning. In other words, some of them may not have such a huge advantage anymore, but if your main characters have always been decently strong and still are why bother changing.
That doesn't necessarily mean that's good for variation either.

Also, how is the variety for other 3v3 games since I don't follow them life marvel or skull girls for example? I'm genuinely curious since I don't follow them.

I'm not chinese and Tekken 7 is out.

Team Ikari Warriors are meant to represent Metal Slug, and they've been back-ported into a few Metal Slug games

Fio has snuck into KoF a few times, too

I dont play it because of fanboy spergs like you who cant make a thread without mentioning SFV.

Enjoy your dead game.

I got it for ps4. RefundedRev 2 and also got it for ps4.

No one on PC plays fighting games.
