THIS GAME IS SO MUCH FUCKING FUN
THIS GAME IS SO MUCH FUCKING FUN
The mods based on it for the older Dooms are better.
I enjoyed it but I only found 6 of those artifact challenges sp I never got to use 3 perks.
Nah
They don't limit the enemy count and interrupt the gameplay with interactive story segments.
i'm thinking of buying it on this summer sale but i don't want to give bethesda any money.
>i don't want to give bethesda any money
Then you know what you must do. it has been cracked.
I watched a video about it once but it just seemed going through kinda same-y rooms and clearing them out, then into the next room. Was I mistaken?
Not saying that's bad mind you, that's just the impression I got
Depends, some rooms attempt to look different sometimes.
the originals ones with mods are better
>inb4 muh graphics
Not him.
I like how you point it out, user.
mp is terrible and the story isnt really fun to replay
Sounds like almost every fps game ever
DOOM is still better, sorry.
Doom enemies don't try to surround you and kill you so it doesn't matter how many there are, you can just bunch them up. Also doom enemies are slower and have limited movement. Also DOOM has verticality with it's level design etc etc I could go on
the lockdown arena shooter shit in this game is cancer, otherwise it's alright
anyone play D4T deathmatch?

Almost the entire game is lock down arena shooter and it's executed nicely.
Let's be honest: Doom mods are a good example of fans knowing exactly what they want, to the point they respect these respective series more than its own developers.
From stuff like MetaDoom or Samsara, to the fact that only 2 people at current Id actualy have been in the studio for a longer time.
Isn't that still more than the original games?
No, there can never be more than 12 enemies spawned at once
See
Not every map is a slaughter map, especially if we're talking "original game" only.
Didn't Suburbs from Doom 2 had a trap room full of Imps, Mancubi and Cacos?
Does it matter if it's fun
That's fairly accurate, but I found the game throwing different enemies at you that get progressively more difficult and slowly introducing more weapons spaces it out enough where it doesn't feel all that samey every single time. Great game, absolutely worth it on sale prices.
>Doom enemies don't try to surround you and kill you
Have you ever played Doom? Honest question.
>buddy gifts me this for the steam sale
>Sup Forums hates it but it's a free game I might as well play
>SHOTGUN
>METAL DUBSTEP
>IM FAST
I haven't had this much fun in a shooter in a while. This is great. Sup Forums just likes to whine
I KNOW RIGHT
Friendly reminder that no gutt is too big

>Sup Forums
you need to go back
The replayability is amazing.
>babby's first greentext
It's actually kind of cute, but lurk a little more, newfag.
I've been here since 2010 you little whore.
I'm eating oatmeal. I'm not gonna take time out of my day to satisfy you for a "proper greentext"
Go suck yourself off you slut
>2010 isn't new
Whatever you say, friendo, just enjoy the rest of summer break.
Not him, but kys
Imps in nuDoom are fast as shit in nightmare diff and over, nothing comes close in the original games except maybe pinkies with fastmonsters on, but then there's not really a proper vertical axis you need to care about like in nuDoom. Soldiers/shooters can flank you too if left unattended for some time, hell knights/barons rush your bum compared to their former slow whore walk, pinkies actually charge at you from afar and slightly home at you if you try to dodge...
I do find monsters to be way more aggressive and agile in nu, kinda makes up for the "horde" potential the original games had.
However, I think that other fag was implying that nuDoom is better, which is outright false. Still a decent/good game though.
Thanks pal. I'll be playing doom.
Yeah, welcome to 1 year ago
He's right though, most Doom 1/2 monsters are extremely slow and their pathfinding is almost non-existent. Lots of monsters are put in unreachable places in many vanilla maps. This is completely different from Doom 2016, where monsters will jump/run around and try to flank you.
If you played any slaughtermap you would know that. Even 1000 barons are completely harmless if you have the room to run around, not so much in Doom 2016.
I'm not saying one is better than the other, the older doom are more composed and "tactical". You always know which ennemies is firing at you and where, it's extremely easy to dodge projectiles. Doom 2016 is frantic in comparaison.
No, let's go back to your previous statement.
>Doom enemies don't try to surround you and kill you
This is categorically false, enemies will constantly do that. I don't give a fuck about your awesome d44m anecdotes. Stop posting bullshit.
>playing doom for the mp and story
>2010
you're like a little baby
So you're saying they're both good games but the playstyle is significantly different in nu-doom that it doesn't seem like a proper "doom" to you?
When did you start?
2002?
Did you give moot the idea for this handy dandy website?
I think its more of a real sequel for the original rather than the level pack that doom 2 was
Am I the only one that thought nightmare wasn't that hard? In a few of the lager hell fights, sure, it could get a little frantic, but I didn't feel like the experience was that difficult overall. I realize there's ultra nightmare but that's just a fucking meme let's be honest here.
Later hell fights*
I think I made it clear it wasn't me, but it's okay I guess because we're all anonymous here.
The only time I recall being properly surrounded, and struggling not to, in the original games is by pinkie hordes only when playing with fastmonsters on, or if I'm playing like shit, sometimes by slightly faster monsters like revenants too, but except in a few specific maps those don't usually come in larger groups. Traps don't count as "surrounding" really, if you're referring to that.
In nuDoom, if you let 2-3 shitty imps unattended for a longer time than necessary they can ruin your shit really fast.
You've played both, original and nu, in the harder diff level, didn't you?
>The only time I recall being properly surrounded
That's a problem with you and your personal experience. In the actual game, enemies will constantly approach and attack you. And stop samefagging.
>all these little oatmeal eating faggots
Never post on my Dutch clogmaking imageboard again.
Aren't they the same guy?
>our personal experience
Care to relate yours with as much detail as you can or should we keep going in circles.
>enemies will constantly approach and attack you
So slow that becomes almost unnoticeable after playing a few levels, except some enemies that go nuts when you turn fastmonsters on, and that's an option you have to either run the game with (command line in vanilla) or use a modern sourceport to enable it.
Imps are aggressive as shit by default, and so is every other monster.
It doesn't matter if it was me or some other guy who made the original statement, you'll never know that, just reply to the points you disagree with you fag.
I agree. I was doubting the game from the moment they first showed gameplay off but I had a blast with it. Maybe ill give it a replay soon.
These mods are made for the core audience, DOOM(captial, trademarked) is made to appeal to Doom fans as well as the AAA market and with that mindset it couldnt have been much better.
Yea on higher difficulties each room's enemy placement and useage of the enemy pool changes how the room plays. Not your fault for not picking up on that, most youtube videos have shit gameplay on low difficulty.
All me ;)
What's wrong with oatmeal. Did your mother never love you as a child?
When did doomguy die and go to hell? He just goes to hell during the last chapter of doom, he didn't die to get there.
the very first episode, where he ends up in a trap, after defeating the two Barons
I'm pleasantly surprised by the fact that the "glory kill" system isn't as annoying and game-breaking as I first thought it would be.
The game would still be better without it though.
I don't know if it would be better; glory kills are quite satisfying and surprisingly varied, and the sound design - especially the music hits - are real damn good.
Really? That's canon? I thought he eventually beat those guys and then just starts on the demios base
I liked it but I thought the weapons sounds were not loud and meaty enough.
>melee executions
D R O P P E D
Eternally fucking dropped, I will never touch this disgrace.
and the risk vs reward of health for a close up kill vs a safe gun kill. Honestly, I don't understand disliking the system.
This is my problem with it, they all feel like pea shooters which is the opposite of what Doom stands for. I think anything meatier would be too masculine to nuDoom players.
>I think anything meatier would be too masculine to nuDoom players
that's such a moronic statement, holy shit
I mean the game is about an angry ancient good awakening and turning demons into chunky salsa, but fuck we better not make the weapon sounds more satisfying, our audience might find that too masculine
I know right, the decision behind it was like, 'lads we gotta appeal to the girls out there so lets not make the guns too aggressive, remember what made Doom 3 so great, well do the opposite of that.'
Doom 3 was shit
Doom 3 has a perfect pace, it is quite literally up there with the pinnacle of fps gaming.
I would argue that Doom 2, not 3, fits that description. Doom is at its weakest when it aims for horror elements.
nudoom is for gays
how do you eat your OATZ my man?
no ur gay
>remember what made Doom 3 so great
you mean literally nothing?
no you're a fag
Doom 3 should have been an original IP
Not him but ive been eating oatz for 6 years since my dad got stroke. I cook for him and i cook some for myself, got hooked and been eating just plain boiled oats with nothing else.
>remember what made Doom 3 so great
yeah, bump mapping and nvidia fx6800.
Pretty true. The gameplay is extremely good, but the game is very limited in what gameplay it has. I've played it through twice and I enjoyed it the whole way through both times. Other people might be tired of it more quickly, but I think most people will probably only start getting tired of the formula as the game ends. I think it the game mostly works due to the way it is pretty consistently introducing new enemy types and weapons throughout the entire game, even if the way you interact with them is kind of limited.
I thought it was boring from trailers, but I gave it a shot. It's fun on nightmare settings, and kicks into gear around the 4th level when you get double jump, boost pads, and a vertical level design.
The game really needed some bosses early on to make first 3 levels interesting.
The few boss fights that are in the game are amazing though - they went all out.
>Demons appear
>Shotgun is loaded
>This starts playing

What was your face
I played through the game casually until a certain point without caring for secrets, and realized I missed 2 weapons.
This game doesn't fuck around and it's great. Now I'm gonna go back and properly hunt every secrets before moving on to the next levels.
Doomguy is pretty damn dumb for destroying the argent generators though.
Gameplay wise the only issue I have are the melee finisher, they look cool but it really doesn't add much to the game. They should have made them like Ninja Gaiden 2.
I am refunding this shit right now. Fucking waste 2 hour downloading it. The whole game is retard. The only weapon I got is a shotgun and the pistol. Can't even get through the first desert
This is the modern gamer, people.
>Can't even get through the first desert
Hey buddy I think you got the wrong game, Call of Duty is two categories down.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA you
Siege Mode Gauss Cannon is my eternal gunfu
Does it still have Denuvo?
I disagree but respect your opinion.
>>METAL DUBSTEP
>using any other weapon than this with rich get richer/item power+ runes and drain grenade
Game has some balance issues towards the end, but I guess it's okay because after all it's the end and you have to not get hit.
>just got super shotgun. Next room is a shitton of demons, a summoner, and quad damage. Badass music starts playing.
they actually did try to make an original horror IP after doom 3 but it never got anywhere
in Doom 64 it ends with him trapped in hell, there's also some other references like the Mancubus corpse LOOKING EXACTLY THE SAME that lead me to believe they considered this canon.
that size tho
