>Chess is a sport so video games must also be a sport
>Art can be anything, so video games must also be art
Why do gamers feel he need to justify their hobby in retarded ways? Video games are not sports and games are not art, video games are toys.
>Chess is a sport so video games must also be a sport
>Art can be anything, so video games must also be art
Why do gamers feel he need to justify their hobby in retarded ways? Video games are not sports and games are not art, video games are toys.
They used to same the same exact thing about movies.
>TFW you realise you're one of those retards OP
...
>a combination of different types of art isn't art
>sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
So really neither chess or video games are sports since neither involve a lot of physical exertion. But they both have a very high skill ceiling.
>art: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
Nothing about this definition implies that art can't be a part of video games.
Isn't God omniscient? He would know the cap is loose.
At first I was like "really tho" but nobody in America gave a shit about German expressionist films and everyone shit on Citizen Kane for like thirty years after the fact - so that's fair
I know OP's just baiting but I don't think I've ever justified video games by saying "muh aesthetics" or anything like that. If anything I don't talk about games to people who don't play games because they can't see why being an autistic Japanese man who beats peoples' asses in Tokyo would be fun - they can't even see why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch
champ, gods not actually real, that is a cartoon
Well it doesn't necessarily have to be. A gallery can showcase both paintings and sculptures - does that make the gallery itself a piece of art?
Whoa son. The definition of sport doesn't say " a lot of physical exertion", it just says "involving physical exertion". So anything that involves any kind of physical movement for entertainment is a sport: video games are a sport because you have to manipulate the input devices, chess is a sport because you have to move the pieces. Checkmate.
Then who made OP?
I'd put my money on his parents
>They used to same the same exact thing about movies.
Heathens get out
Chess isn't a sport, it's a game.
I agree, but chess is a toy too.
Vidya is art.
>paintings and sculptures
so, how about those same exact paintings that china factory produce in thousands every year?
are those arts??
you now realize it's stupid to generalize ALL things of same kind to be art.
there can be video games that's art, but there also can be video games that's simply toy, or worse, a rubbish.
same applies to paintings, etc
All sports are games.
Technically it is, but video games will always be treated like how competitive monopoly or professional Uno is treated as a "sport". By definition almost anything can be a sport.
Mental sport, requires a dedicated lifestyle and it's plenty taxing on the body.
>hunting
>games
nah nigga. fuck off
I dunno why do you justify posting your shitty meme frog?
>de pepe poster
powerlifting isn't really a game.
>hunting
>sport
how drunk on moonshine are you
But that has nothing to do with what I'm saying. I was pointing out the possible fallacy of saying a collection of art is inherently art itself.
>hunting
>a sport
You don't hunt as a sport. You hunt for sport.
As a competition, it is.
Not all games are sports
True. Monopoly isn't a sport. But declaring that chess isn't a sport because it's a game is wrong.
i justify videogames by mentally stimulating my mind to get gut at things
how so? you can compete against someone and that doesn't make it a game.
>you can compete against someone and that doesn't make it a game
That is exactly what would make it a game. It's a competition between two or more people, conducted according to a set of rules.
>a game of basketball
>games of chance
>the olympic games
We just don't go around saying "Hey you up for a powerlifting game real quick, bruh?" But that doesn't mean it's not a game.
art is a social construct
it doesn't have an exact meaning
it's also really gay
because frog posters make ironic bait threads
ok fair enough, I can't find a reasonable argument to disagree, i will agree that its a game.
It can be argued that videogames can be a kind of sport, but the claim that they are "art" is retarded.
Art can be anything. Fucking art man I swear to god it's dumb as hell.
Seriously ask artist what art is. You will never get the same answer.
Who made parents
probably grandparents if I were to guess
