The Mario Galaxy games were great.

I can't into Mario Galaxy, but yeah. It had a few.

I played my Wii for so long that the graphics card started to burn out and it would briefly produce dead pixels against certain backgrounds/colors while I was playing. I just finally had enough and gave it away. I miss it. I loved everything about the Wii except Nintendo's decision with some of their first-party games, which most can be chalked up to one person's failure (e.g. Sakurai).

Also, Metroid Prime 3 is hands-down, bar NONE, the best game of last-gen. I don't care what anyone says.

Yeah. It's been collecting dust somewhere in the attic for almost 10 years now.

I've skipped the wii and bought a 360 instead and now have a Wii U that can also play wii games.

The Wii had a lot of shovelware, but there is a bunch of great stuff aswell.
Still play from time to time.
Mostly Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
Doing the stupid Wii-Mote moves for the attacks is actually hilarious.

I love my Wii to this day.

I use it more than my Wii U considering 480p/i games look fucking horrid blown up on a HDTV and the Wii U doesn't emulate games much better than the Wii U. The actual Virtual Console on the Wii U is somehow worse too.

Yes I bought it during it's lifecycle. I literally only ever completed Mario Galaxy and Brawl on it. Even just holding the wiimote and nunchuk was a chore. Navigating the menu was honestly the barrier of entry that kept me from playing games on the thing.

Everyone I know and their grandmothers (in many cases, i do literally mean that) has one of these.

It's actually a pretty good console, but it did ruin Nintendo, just chasing a short-lived fad.

It's pretty pathetic how much better the Wii's VC is, in terms of content and quality.
It's the number one reason I play it so much.

I own 2 Wiis, one white which I got around launch and a red one that was packed with NSMBW since my older one couldn't play dual-layered discs.

I bought it during its lifecycle, but towards the end when it was cheap to pick one up. It has a nice selection of games, even if they big first party names (Mario, Zelda, Metroid) were fairly disappointing.

Yeah, I got it as a gift during its lifecycle. I don't really play it that much, but it's a pretty good home brew machine

how easy is it to hack this? are certain later models harder to mod like the ps2?

i did freemc boot on ps2 for refrence and it was pretty easy

every model is the same
the only problem WAS the firmware installed
but now every firmware is hackable via software
you don't even need an specific game to do it, just access a website using the browser

Really easy, search for letterbomb and yes later models are dificult/unable to hack like the wii mini, but wii mini is shit for emulation because it doesnt have gamecube ports

It pretty easy and straightforward if you follow all the steps right. And it's definitely worth it. The only reason I still have mine is because I can pirate shit on it. Now I can just keep all the games me and my friends play on a thumbdrive, plus keep stuff like Project M on it. It's a great little party machine

you can easily get a Wii for 20-30$ in any pawnshop store
take into account that you can buy one with a faulty drive, because you can load your backups from the SD or a USB hd

The wiimote is the objectively superior way of playing Prime, second only to kbm on Dolhpin.

Wiimote isn't better because it has a shitty response time on the motion controls which makes everything cursor based on the Wii fucking shaky as well. Shaky ass aiming and that slow turning is definitely objectively inferior to GC aiming since the lock on is a thing.

If I cared enough about a superior aiming option in a Gamecube FPS with a lock on button, I'd just end up setting up my steam controller for gyro/trackpad aiming in dolphin over murdering my wrist with a wiimote because that would actually be accurate.
