I skipped it first playthrough cus the tonitrus is so bad and this seemed like just a redux at first glance, but oh fuckin boy was I wrong. Most satisfying feeling strength weapon in the game, yes even moreso than Kirkhammer. The primed forward R1 is the single best feeling move in the game

Here's my second choice: Kyle Katarn's lightsaber from Jedi Outcast. I thought it was so fucking cool that you could throw your saber, deactivate it, watch the hilt fly off somewhere and run back to collect it. I probably spent hours in that game just dicking around with lightsaber mechanics. Also its model is very cool.

not him, but I looked closer at it, it's got a significant resemblance to a katana in the blade, Sabers generally don't have straight blades like that, even if it has it's hilt.

smaller one is pretty much a parrying dagger/tanto.

Remember, Cainhurst took the concept of eastern blades from a traveler and remanufactured them with an edwardian twist.

The smaller being a repurposed italian parrying dagger or cavalry saber reshaped like a tanto isnt far off from the way this game presents cainhurst lore.

That said, most parrying daggers were straight, and mainly nips exclusively used curved utility knives irl.

The Kirkhammer would be cool if it wasn't the worst weapon in the game. Did a full playthrough with it and felt so painfully gimped, especially in hammer mode. It's so fucking slow and the damage is nowhere near high enough to be an acceptable trade-off.

unfortunately, it doesnt pay off till late/endgame with the 32% blunt gems.

however it has a fuckton of utility with the stagger it can induce with the mashed out r1s, the R2, and ESPECIALLY the second r2 attack that comes out after a full charged r2.

That one not only hits like a truck but even knocks back GIANT enemies.

Its great for pvp, but only if you have the best gems.

I probably could have done it but by that point I had gotten my ass handed to me by the Orphan of Kos for four days straight and just had one area to go before the end of the game so I was just so done with the DLC and wanted to finish the game.

Well I always used straight swords in Dark Souls except for the occasional affair with a spear, so I actually didn't mind getting a sword that would ground me in the unfamiliar combat environment of BB.

Plus I spent most of the early/mid game using the Threaded Cane, which was quite the change of pace since I almost always used it in whip form.

I liked beating the shit out of Maria like that but I also bullied the hell out of her by parrying her every time she stood up.

It's quite balance in every game it's in. People like flashy stuff so it stick. Best aesthetic for me is the bloodborne one.

Holy moonlight untransformed has probably the best moveset for any of the sword style weapons.
