That was before any of the real content updates, too, insane to consider how far the game has gone from having just three bosses and then just hell being a farming spot for the molten gear.

Last time I tried playing Terraria I was just completing fishing quests and tried the Expert mod, but didn't even get inside the dungeon.

I would love to join but my PC is meh tier and every Sup Forums server I go on revolves into pc-assraping antics

One of the best games I've ever played. I really didn't expect much from it for whatever reason, maybe it was the generic art, but it just has an amazing sense of progression to it that's really enjoyable.

Only did up to end game of hard mode, so I never touched moon lord or anything else. so all the mechanical bosses and some shit to get specter(?) armor. I think I jumped on to check out some new patch, but didn't play much.

It's a great game and honestly worth the full price.

However, do note that anyone who tells you Terraria with mods is worth playing is either full of shit or genuinely autistic. The vanilla game is a lot of fun, but the mods are godawful.

The Moonlord shit is absolutely bullshit and there's not a god damn thing you can say that would change my opinion. OP and frustrating is different from fun. It's anti-fun.

There's plenty of good mods for it, it's just a matter of experimenting or recognizing bad quality like Tremor.

I only play solo, it's perfectly viable. You could also join /v(g)/ servers when they rarely pop up.

Playing alone for the first time? Go normal, expert mode is when you know what to do.

Guide is your friend, if you dont know what to do with a material, go talk to him and pick "crafting" option, he will show you what you can do with that item.

Never pick something else than "softcore", medium core is kinda fun but only with friends, doing a mistake and losing everything, then die again and again and again and again trying to recover your stuff is frustrating and will probably make you ragequit.

Also kill all slimes you see before going underground, you need lots of torches to mark your way and see, break all the pots you find as well.

Start making houses for NPCs to start spawning, all you need is a walled and complete structure with an entrance(door), a table, a chair and enough light for them to start moving in.

Who would you say is harder than expert moon lord?

I still have trouble with expert Duke Fishron even after getting the Solar Flare armor and the Terrarian. Moonlord is pretty easy with a railway spanning the world.

Get the Vortex Armor and a Chain Gun with chlorophyte bullets if you're too bad to aim.
If otherwise use a sniper rifle with venom bullets.
