shouldn't you be playing your flavor of the month visual novel right now?
Do you happen to suck at fighting games, user? Do you want to talk about it?
on the hunt for a fightstick to up my UMvC3 game, any recommendations around the $150 range?
but they're fun
rap 4
It's a fucking stick, user. You don't even need to be concerned about dead angles because fighting games have 8 directions and that's it.
Just get anything that isn't going to be a total rubbish cheapo shit. It literally doesn't matter
I hate VNs, you dicklet.
No, but I end up facing a lot of people who either complain they lost because they aren't using a stick, or get butthurt because they lost while using a stick.
If they didn't cost so much I wouldn't judge people on them. Replicating the arcade style controller is cool and I see why some would want to play with it. However I don't think it's a good investment of $200. Then again lots of optional devices were made for certain types of games like MMO mice. I guess if you like a certain genre this kind of investment isn't much if you know it'll make it more enjoyable.
I use it for mame and shooters, I don't even play fighting games.
You're a complete fucking moron. What do you play on, a d-pad? Anyone who invests their time into fighters knows d-pads and fighters cause horrible RSI. You are a literal brainlet with no clue.
A controller with an analog stick, like a normal fucking human.
>playing vidya enough and being weak enough to get RSI
Yeah, you're a turbo autist getting butthurt that someone is talking shit on muh fight stick. Hang from an oak tree.
That's why there are cheaper ones if you're just dabbling in the genre or just casual about it. No one would suggest you to buy a TE as a first stick. People that do that are either morons with a lot of money or dedicated fighting game fans.
#gamerchair
Post thirty seconds of you playing any fighting game.
My Qanba Q4 stick was probably one of the best vidya-related purchases I've made, I'll get an Obsidian later on
The cheaper ones are shit and will make you double dip because they either have bad parts or they straight up break.
The best thing a beginner can do is buy a good used stick.
There's many on the market that are barely used because not everybody is ready for the stick life.
isn't that game totally dead
in what shitty game, sfv? good luck playing anything of merit on your pad
>normal human beings don't care about their hobbies and shitpost on 4chins instead
you're the kind of spineless manchild who only cares about things others tell you to care about
That's the thing. I'm not very good. And I still beat the majority of stick users I face. Because they buy them thinking it automatically boosts their ability to play. Hence, sticks being an autistic thing in general.
>That's the thing. I'm not very good.
Want to play something then padwarrior?
...
I wasn't even recommending him to use a d-pad? Anyone with half a brain would invest into a fightstick, it's not like they cost a fortune. He's probably some manchild with 100 hours in thinking he's god, it's pathetic
>That's the thing. I'm not very good.
Sup Forums fighting game threads in a nutshell.
Kill yourself shitter.
it's not that sticks make you better
it's that only poor niggers and spics use pads whereas almost all serious players use an arcade stick
hope that helped. also good luck trying to piano.
Everybody loses in fighting games sometimes, OP.
These urine tinted pieces of expensive shit
You're challenging someone that admits they arent very good? Are you trying to prove something?
Doesn't even make sense. Sticks are completely unnecessary and just give autists more johns and false confidence.
no actually it does matter, and its a major purchase, so best to research and ask before buying
being a dismissive little faggot like yourself doesn't help people asking for advice
the best stick is the TES2+ , which is real hard to find right now because theres a real lull in the hype of fighting games
You can get them for very cheap.
Its the GAYMAN brand thats overpriced but that doesnt really do anything special.
>OP is a gay smashbabb after all
end your life at once.
>a superior, community supported controller standard is a product of a mental condition
how do you even breathe with an IQ that low?
It's almost like different people prefer different input methods.
>isn't that game totally dead
it's pretty tough to find a match online sometimes, but the game is still fucking amazing and I have plenty of friends who like to play locally.
Plus, it's not like MvCI is gonna be dethroning it any time soon. if anything, more folks might come back to 3 after that flops.
The madcatz stick are harder to find now because Madcatz is DEAD.
...
It's called learning process, you pad shitter. It took me a year took get used to playing on a stick and of course, while you learn stick you get beat by pad shitters. The good thing though is that after a while, you don't lose to shitters like you.
where are all my 3rd world keyboard fighting game players?
And then there are top tier tornament winners who use controllers.
It's almost like sticks are just a preference
Which is not relevant to the argument. Gripping a fighting stick is much less strenuous. It's clearly beneficial to avoid awkward controller grips and a control method where your thumb does all the work. It's like asking for an arm injury.
Yes, I never said it was superior to pad either, it's just a preference thing. Some things are easier on sticks than pads, it just depends on how/who you play.
I played Chun-Li in SFIV. No way I'd be able to play her efficiently on a pad. However, if you play grapplers like SnakeEyez, then yes pad or stick, it doesn't matter
>an arm injury
>playing a video game
Are you made of paper mache or do you play 6 hours a day?
>Are you made of paper mache or do you play 6 hours a day?
Not him but I play fighting games about five hours a day. If I was a padshitter I wouldn't have thumbs anymore.
I bought a used fightstick cheap but ended up replacing almost everything with 90$ worth of parts. Looking back, if I had known what i know now I would have just built one from scratch. now I just have figure out how to craft the housing for the red buttons, maybe carving it out of wood, idk.
>it's a no clue Sup Forumsirgin talking out of his ass episode
honestly the housing part is the one I dont want to bother with.
you're an idiot im talking about good fight sticks in general, reading comprehension nigger, try it
Of course they're going to be shit, but they're still good enough to play at a decent level and get used to using a stick. If you want to upgrade just replace the parts with Sanwa/Seimitsu, it will still most likely be cheaper than buying a TE or whatever.
...
I bought a TE at gamestop 5 years ago for $100 when they realized that it didn't sell.
My buddy has pair of these. I often give him shit for using them, but he claims they help either see the colors better or it stops the screen from hurting his eyes. Im not sure if I believe him.
the tint supposedly is easier on the eyes. the glasses itself are overpriced as fuck, but it's not like they are completely without purpose
>get a fightstick because I thought I was going to get really into fighters
>picture related
>literally just sits int he closest because I realize how garbage I was after 1 day of playing and gave up
>wasted $300 upon release for no fucking reason
They reduce strain on the eyes and they are mostly for writers or programmers or whatever.
They dont give true videogames benefits, the colors actually fuck with how the games look.
you can only blame yourself for investing money into something you weren't willing to put time in
I mean what were you even thinking? that it's gonna make you a beast at fighting games with no practice?
you just gotta keep practicing user. What games you play? I'm not a SFV guy but if you wanna practice up on some Mahvel, plenty of folk on here who'd be willing to play with you.
>I hate fun
My friend, you clearly have NEVER sat in one of those, they are comfortable as fuck, that is why they are so popular, and it's pretty ideal to be comfortable when the fact of the matter is that you will be sitting on the darn thing for hours on end
I heard that its better to learn stick than use a controller and I thought I was going to put time in I also got tried of getting wrecked online. half the time I couldnt even counter attack at all and people just got Perfects on me constantly.
I dislike these because they are faggy as fuck, literally the fedora of eyewear
just play it occasionally and eventually you'll become more passionate about it again
getting good and having fun doesn't have be mutually exclusive
The best Mortal Kombat AND Skullgirls player (same person, goes by the name of SonicFox) uses an xbox one controller, it literally does not matter
I was thinking about getting injustice 2 or tekken 7. are those good games for beginners?
No, if you grew up actually playing in the arcades then it is perfectly acceptable for you to use an arcade stick, because that's what you're used to. But let's face it 95% of Sup Forums has never set foot in an arcade that wasn't a Dave & Busters/amusement park, or spent any significant amount of time playing fighting games in that environment; a pad would be a way fucking better option for these people and there's nothing wrong with going pad, but Hori can't have people thinking for themselves now can they?
Smash bros is the best for beginners
After that it's Persona 4 Arena/Ultimax by virtue of auto-combos
In my opinion
I want to play a recent game though. I dont have a ps3 for persona 4 and I dont buy nintendo.
the best for beginners is ST, and using an old character, because it will teach you the fundamentals
not that guy but I 100% agree with both his recommendations. got started on smash, got more fundamentals down with P4A and especially P4AU, juggled it with Street Fighter 4 on the side.
Picked up UMvC3 a few weeks back and I'm in full swing, practicing combo chains and learning the more advanced mechanics I never thought I could pull off in the past.
I would honestly stay away from 3D fighters like Soul Calibur and Tekken, I don't find the skills you learn from them translate to 2D fighters.
Just get tekken. It just came out so there are plenty of other new players to play against.
I started playing with a regular 360 controller and decided to use an arcade stick to be able to compete in tournaments at my local arcade, back when I lived in Paris.
I miss arcades so fucking much.
>I would honestly stay away from 3D fighters like Soul Calibur and Tekken
so what would you recommend out of Blazblue:CF or UMvC3?
guilty gear xrd rev 2
Never knew I was a turbo autist :(
just install f.lux if your eyes hurt and save yourself the money
I actually use these a lot for school when writing papers or doing a lot of computer work for long stretches of time. They really do suck (there's no normal looking models without urine lenses, the brand is obnoxious and retarded, and you can't get any fitted for you so wearing is awkward and slightly uncomfortable) but they do work for the purpose of reducing eye strain. Not sure if that's just placebo though.
What's a good "baby's first stick"? I'm very much in that area of wanting to dabble a bit more, but not about to drop a few hundred dollars on it.
...
Real question:
Are fighting sticks better for your hands (fingers)?
HellooooOOOOooo?
>>literally just sits int he closest because I realize how garbage I was after 1 day of playing and gave up
No human in existence can pick up their first fighting game day 1 and be good at it.
Shit takes time and practice to get good at, if you aren't willing to spend the time to learn the game and find one of the best experiences you can have in gaming then it was a waste of money however.
You can also play some shmups on it instead
...
since you keep posting it, i'll give you an honorary (you)
Yeah
Hands would hurt after long sessions of fighting games when I played on x360 pad, on stick I have to play for like 12 hours for them to start getting tired.
>the best stick is the TES2+ , which is real hard to find right now because theres a real lull in the hype of fighting games
>you're an idiot im talking about good fight sticks in general
>Telling anyone to learn reading comprehension
...
This is the reason I want to start playing on stick honestly. My right thumb is starting to bother me more and more.
Arcade Stick is straight up comfy tier with Mame and Shmups in general. Sure you can play it with a traditional controller, but it's not the same experience.
Also Monitor displayed Vertical just looks so great.
No that's a fight stick
>tfw want to get a new monitor with portrait mode but no money and also want to upgrade from my old ass gpu
got my brother kof 13 on release a little while down the down road he bought me a fight stick for my birthday learned how to use it stopped getting my shit pushed at my local arcade before it close down
You'll rarely find a 9:16 arcade game
Find an old cheap 4:3 monitor and just use that for arcade stuff
