What is your favourite jRPG, Sup Forums?
...
Yes, I got a shit taste
Combat:Grandia
Story/setting:Xenogears
First jRPG-nostalgia:Breath of fire IV
Soul Hackers
Ar nosurge.
The best weebshit I've ever played.
I don't know, but your favourite sucks
Why don't more games have kemono girls?
Kemono girls are illegal in Germany.
It's a tie between Chrono Trigger & Dragon Quest VIII.
Anything but modern JRPGs. Fuck Idea Factory and NIS.
Dragon Quest XI and Kingdom Hearts III are my last hope.
Because they are not mainstream.
What game is this?
I don't like them jrpg they gay and shit
Asking the same question.
what game?
This is from sequel to Recettear.
Chantelise?
Chantelise was made before Recettear, silly.
Not seeing anything about a sequel =(
JRPG thread?
How do you guys feel about playing jap games with the aid of a script translation? Does it detract too much from the experience to be worthwhile? What sort of games would you recommend / not recommend doing this for?
I don't think there's any jrpg with a story with the effort. I imported Tales of Vesperia ps3 and skipped most cutscenes, and the ones I did watch I didn't have a script with me, I just watched to see what happened.
So for a gameplay-focused game like Langrisser V you'd recommend just skipping through dialogue rather than bothering with a script? Or not bother with the game at all?
My man
Mother 3 easily.
The game's not good. Not by any stretch of the imagination.
But beauty and quality are two different things, and god damn if it isn't beautiful in every conceivable way.
The Tales games would be so much better with different writers, Tales of the Abyss was my favourite so far but the others I played were generic anime, Vesperia is decent I hear but no 360.
VIII is my favourite FF, relatively new to SMT but I'm loving Strange Journey. Atelier Totori was more than just a moeblob game but will go ignored.
Gimme a source, user!
xenogears
he is trolling you,it's ragnarok 2,that is the new race.
What game?
I'd say my favorite JRPG overall is Frontier SaGa, but that's just because I get a boner from the kind of setting it has and the amount of party customization in it.
Also, can someone please post the name of the game pictured in the OP? Google will not tell me and the hint someone else gave about it being a sequel to Recettear didn't seem to give anything. None of the games worked on by EasyGameStation don't seem to have this character in it.
Persona 5
I want this game on pc, i loved it on the vita but i want to experience it on full hd/60fps on a big screen/monitor.
nocturne

Source?
Sauce?
cucking the cat was the best part
Fuck morgana.
does barkley gaiden count as a jrpg
My african america brother.
Just learn nip and use games for immersion learning like I do.
I always hear that one is the best in the series.
Is it really that good?
I've only played Re;Birth 1 and 3 and haven't started that one yet
Skipped Re;Birth 2 because i don't care for the sisters
>The game's not good. Not by any stretch of the imagination.
by what measure? mother 3 doesn't have any technical issues and the battle system is passable
it's sort of maudlin, but of course it is, it's japanese drama
I like Morganna tho...
Yes, and it is the only correct answer
What game is this?
I've tried doing that but either get fed up going at a snail's pace, or I say fuck it and just play the game, which defeats the purpose of playing in Japanese. How do you get around that?
The one that isn't for permavirgin weeaboo faggots and has good gameplay.
So none.
I do something inbetween. I accept that I'm not going to know every kanji but if I got the gist of the line I'll keep going. I only look shit up if I can't figure it out.
It helps that I already knew two languages when I started watching japanese media at age 12, so by the time I decided to start learning Japanese it was more a matter of catching my reading up to my listening and speaking levels. I can pick up a lot of new kanji on the fly just by playing games with a decent amount of voice acting.
Everything is illegal in Germany.
Rape and theft are legal if you are a refugee.
Ok, I'll try that. I think a major problem is my lack of vocabulary, so I have to look up like half the words in a sentence.
What are some good PS1 or PS2 JRPGs that I can emulate comfortably without a controller?
Ar Tonelico comes to mind.
Arc the lad
In that case I'd probably recommend watching tons of shit over trying to read it. Honestly I can't give any hints on anything beyond immersion learning. I just went from watching a shitton of anime to listening to seiyuu radio shows before going to bed each night. It seems to me like you'd get a lot more exposure to new words by listening to people talk than trying to intellectually interpret every part of a sentence.
I'd also recommend getting some manga with furigana, but I suppose those won't help much until you've got your phrase and word database expanded a lot.
Picking up the game this week. Morgana can't be nearly as bad as Teddie, right?
Is Tales of Berseria any good? I tried playing it but the combat confused the shit outta me so i stopped playing it.
Easily Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song.
It is good, but how did its combat confuse you? Run up, attack enemy, dodge, try not to die.
Golden Sun for GBA
Morgana really isn't, but I can see how he could get on people's nerves.
like I try setting up the moveset for combos but the combos worked sometimes but not all the time
I mainly couldnt figure out how to read that move list diagram thing to properly set up attack chains
>the last game i played from Gust was Ar Tonelico 2
I miss it desu, loved that soundtrack.
No, but I really like Teddie too, so maybe I just have shit taste. They are pretty different characters tho.
Near each character's portrait is a number. That number determines how many actions they can take before they have to back out to recover. So if you're trying to do a 4 hit combo and you only have 3 points, it'll do up to number 3. I'm guessing that's what you had trouble with.
Atelier Totori or Meruru
>jrpg thread
Just a reminder to whoever liked the .hack// series that G.U is getting a remaster for PS4/PC with dual audio and some extras. Buy it you motherfuckers i want the franchise revived ;_;
Mana Khemia
Best fucking OST I've heard in a while.
That could be it.
It's weird though usually I have the patience for stuff like this. Not really sure why I sperged out with this one
I liked Vesperia's battle system and by that I mean Yuri after you've unlocked all his skill link skills.
I've not even played the game and I love the OST.
>tfw my first favorite healer was a cute dog girl
>tfw this got me into cute fox
I have played it and it has a kick-ass OST.
