Just beat this for the first time. Had a great time, I actually think I like it just a little more than 3FES, which was the first atlus game I beat. Both are stellar in their own right though. Let's have a comfy persona thread. No installment wars, please

Literally never happening again after Persona 5 was such a huge newfag magnet

That'll happen whenever a new game in any series is good, though. Over time, people who were serious will get educated about the merits of previous games, whereas the less dedicated will get bored and move on. And then a new game will eventually come out and the cycle will repeat.

Oh, that sucks. On the topic, does P3P add anything new besides FeMC if I've already beaten FES? I don't really like her so anything else about it?

It lets you completely control your party members. But the game becomes more of a point and click visual novel in P3P. Personally I think FES is far superior to P3P. It's not like you have no control over your party in FES, people over exaggerate the control thing.

There are some P4 character cameos, but for the most part everything is pretty much the same for the male protag.

Oh, okay Thanks. Probably gonna skip it then. Since I never intend to play the FeMC route

Did you like the final boss theme OP? I have been bullied for years on here for liking it and I want a fresh opinion from someone who just beat it for the first time

Genesis, right? Yeah, I really liked the soundtrack as whole (Nanako's dungeon and the Opening, Shadow World, especially) I really like it when the remix of the normal battle theme kicks in

Eternal Punishment is the best game
4-5 are still great but brought in unwanted attitudes about the games

You're the one trying to start a shitstorm with a comment like that.

Are the 1 and 2 PSP remakes good? I have those for my emulator

P5 was great and I've been playing since 2. The community growing bigger is a mixed bag of course but it could lead to more fanart and hopefully P6 being something amazing too

the P1 PSP remake is unfortunately the best way to play it, but try to find the patch that brings back the original music. The PS1 version is a horrid localization.

The PSP version of P2 Innocent Sin is an improvement in every way. Go for it. You can even choose which music you want, old or new.

ALSO START WITH INNOCENT SIN AND THEN ETERNAL PUNISHMENT YES IT MATTERS

Playing persona 3 now.
Can any of you anons tell me how buffs works ?
How much they last, and do they stack ?

They last 3 turns, they don't stack.

Thank you user

Honestly, just as I think both games are really great, Both soundtracks are fucking good shit

If you can get used to dated gameplay OP then I would recommend the Persona 2 duolgy
has the best story and some great characters

Is there a psp version of Eternal punishment?

Yes
But its japan only. the ps1 version however was localised and it is not as bad as P1 ps1 localisation. There is also a fan translation for the psp version in the works, last post said something about how a release is possible this year

I honestly don't know what it is about this game but for some reason it's way more memorable for me than p3 or p5 ever will be. Especially the cast even though most characters are not deep at all.

I guess I just like the character design and color palette

I don't know the general consensus, but I just slightly prefer 4's gang over 3's. Sees was good, too, but something about a group of smalltown kids hit me in the right spot

Adding onto what others said, it changes the combat system just a bit so that party members and enemies don't use a turn to get up from being downed. I was actually pretty annoyed by that since I quite liked 3FES's combat system and I'd imagine it could be pretty fun to exploit if you had complete party control.

I'm actually playing through P3P now having already finished FES and I honestly think the FeMC route is a neat addition, I genuinely wish they had added a FeMC for Golden. I want to romance Kanji, god damn it.

...

I'm just not a fan of playing as the girl option. With games like Bayonetta or Metriod, it's fine. But if I'm given the option, I don't pick the girl character

...

...

Have you played P5 yet, OP? Personally, I think it's the best one, but P3 and P4 are both incredible too.

In the middle of playing it right now. Beat Kaneshiro. Why does everyone say Makoto is autistic? She just seems like the cliche social introvert bookworm

I don't get why some of you shit on P3, is it just to be contrarian?

It's just a meme. It started with calling her a robot, since someone in her Confidant refers to her as one, and it evolved into her being autistic.

Anyone who shits on any of the 3 Persona games is being contrarian. At the end of the day, they're 3 of the best games of all time.

Why do people shit on 4 when it's also a fine game?

contrarianism?

Both have their flaws

The thing that bothers me the most about P3 is tartarus. And from P4 is how character development is tied to social links. But everyone goes to one extreme or the other

Been playing through the recent three games of Persona, and appreciate them for what they are. However, have no idea if it's worth going back to 1 or 2. Have they held up, or is it best to hopefully wait for a "remastering" or something?

Characters, story and soundtrack (yes, even P1, it has a bunch of greats tracks) are all top tier, if you can stomach the gameplay go for it, I can't stand the gameplay though

1 and innocent sin on psp are great, you miiight want to undub them though, also the remake to the p1 music is actually pretty nice, but the original music was nice too, so it's up to you on which one you want to try.

P1 is perhaps the best game in the series, it really holds a special place for me. Play the PSP version of it you won't regret it, and the gameplay is great, too. P2 duology is pretty great for the story and music, gameplay is fun but a bit more linear than P1's gameplay. I still say give them a go.

i started playing FES like 2 months ago, mostly blind. i'm now speeding through the end game now that i've got the hang of it. also it seems i have enough time to max all social links which is nice for a first time run, i took notes on what was available when so that probably helped, and that FES is supposedly easier to 100%.
probably going to buy a playstation TV to play p4g.

That was when the persona series was much more similar to the mainline shin Megami tensei series. If you like those, you'll like early persona.

>last post said something about how a release is possible this year
I've been waiting for years.

I felt like I was making good progress around the end of the game until it ended with 4 social links nowhere near completed, supposedly it's tough to max them all.

Kind of like 5, when P4G came out there were a lot of new fans who the old fans didn't like, so they vented their anger from the community being changed by hating the game itself

I love Persona 4, the characters were incredibly fun. I'm a shut-in NEET with trust fund money so i never really made friends in high school, this game made me feel like I kinda sorta experienced what i had missed vicariously through the story.

yes I know im a pathetic faggot, dont give me (You)s for that

I know that feel user. P3 had the best story, P5 had the best gameplay, and P4 was just kind of in the middle, but I found that the cast stuck with me way more than the casts of 3 and 5.

Persona 4 was the most normie game Atlus ever made
