2 > 3 > 1 imho

good thread

3 was not a bad game. 2 is just as good if not better than 1.

These are my opinions. Fight me.

Echoes best girl.

Home.

2 sucks, 1 is best, I never played 3.

I wish I could. I wish I could smash your fucking face in for being that wrong. Jesus fucking Christ you make me sick. Either give me your address or upload a picture so if I ever see you walking down the street I can curb stomp you like the piece of trash you are.

2 does a lot better than 1 and I also think that you are a big bitch if you complain about the ammo system but the game's 1 fatal flaw is how much of a fucking slog back tracking absolutely anywhere is

I wish there were games like these that could be played using normal mouse and keyboard controls

Now that 4 was confirmed as well as metroid 2 remake should we go back and buy fed force it seemed pretty fun

but is it better than fusion?

Never played it, and seeing how there's a snowball's chance in hell that it gets ported to Switch, I likely never will.

In terms of overall quality:

1>2>3

in terms of gameplay:

2>3>1

in terms of lore:

US 1>3>2>>>>>>>Trilogy/PAL 1

what's the difference in lore? the parting the veil thing?

fusion sucks
>mfw bombing a literally random wall to progress the game

the US version had a longer and more interesting version of the chozo lore that was written separately from the PAL version. When the trilogy was released on the Wii, the lore was changed to the PAL version in the US.

Are you taking about in Sector 4? Where you had to bomb a wall in the save room? If so then that's clearly shown to you.

idk what sector but it was to get to the robot boss that hangs from the ceiling pretty sure

Im playing through the wii trilogy for the first time. I have 1 and 2 on the gamecube, but I never finished 2 so I forgot pretty much everything I did. I sure hate the motion controls on the wii. They're not god awful but they feel worse than the gamecube controls.

3 has backtracking too if you fuck up and use the batteries in the wrong places

>in terms of gameplay:
>2>3>1
nah
The missile spam in prime 1 trumps it all. It feels so satisfying.

>Prime
>good

Kill yourselves primefags. Other M is objectively good and is still better despite the shit story. Gameplay is all that matters anyway.

>he plays games for the story

that's because the US version contradicts the lore from the rest of the series, saying that the worm (metroid prime) arrived on tallon iv on the phazon asteroid, even though other games state that the chozo created the metroids

Outdated bait son.

Go away dobson

other m had shit gameplay

no exploration, boring environments, invisible walls, OP weapons and dodging making fighting boring and/or pointless

youtube.com/watch?v=pX4mhp-8sOc
youtube.com/watch?v=VzIW2g7jFvI

it's shit senpai

...

Except Prime 2 gates over half the Sky Temple keys behind the very last upgrade you get making the end segment one of the most tedious things imaginable whereas you can get half of the ones in Prime before you even get the Plasma Beam.

yeah that still ties into the backtracking

I like backtracking.

And it's far worse in Prime 2.

Most intimidating boss of the trilogy
youtube.com/watch?v=lesncaOmAiQ

did you mean to reply to the other guy because that's exactly what I said

Holy shit, the edge. Metroid fags truly are the worst.

>t. mad primeniggers

You fags are all exactly the same

You can get about 4 or 5 Sky Temple Keys before the Light Suit actually. Which is just about half, like half of the Artifact Temple keys.

did I play the same metroid prime 1 as any of you other anons because you can get all 12 so that once you get the phazon suit from the omega metroid you can grab the last one in that tunnel you passed on the way there, go back to the overworld and fight ridley. If you know where they are already you can get every single one as you go

Only one Artifact Key requires the Phazon Suit which is the equivalent to the Light Suit, I just used the Plasma Beam as an arbitrary late game upgrade and if you're fast enough and have enough Energy Tanks you can actually get it without the Phazon Suit but I doubt anyone would know that unless they've seen a speed run.

>LMAO u Mad???????

More like duology. Prime 3 was a giant mis-step and part of the reason metroid has been effectively dead in the water for years.

1 US original > 2 > 1 PAL/JP/Wii > 3

the only problem with the first metroid prime is they couldn't just leave the boss-ass chozo lore from the first NA release of the game and just had to replace it with garbage.Why.

We know the chozo raised samus, of course they'd expect her to come back if thye can see the dam future, why did that need to be edited out

>u mad

18 year old here. No one says that anymore gramps.

also prime kinda sucks. Zero Mission is the best Metroid followed by Other M

2 is the worst

Prime 1 and Super are the two best in the series by leaps and bounds.

metroid prime hunters
metroid prime federation force

Props goes to Echoes for being the hardest Metroid game.

Why do you think Oher M is so good?

And best. Fucking fight me, Echoes was amazing.

Nope.

Echoes' difficulty was inconsistent. Some parts of the game were easy, but then you'd suddenly hit a huge difficulty spike. Then it'd go back to being easy for a few hours.

Even besides that, Metroid 1 is harder. That's not even a good thing.

>Beam ammo
>Hub world instead of interconnectivty
>Seeker Missile and Screw Attack are complete garbage
>Boost Guardian and Spider Guardian
>The entirety of Submerged Torvus

>Best

>

>Beam ammo
I can sorta understand. Shitty. Probably didn't work out as well as they thought it would be hey.

Metroid 1 ain't that hard. It's just very easy to get yourself killed early in the game due to a lack of health and varia suit and then just turn off the game because you can't bother to grind for health for a couple minutes.
Once you progressed into the game further, especially once you got the varia suit, the game becomes very easy.

why do you give a shit what a little kid thinks

The only prime game I played was hunters. I shit you not. I liked it too. Should go back and play the gc games? Should I emulate and be fine with the experience?

Yeah.

Prime is linear as fuck without exploits and glitches for a game that is presented as a non linear game. It doesn't help that it's also Reused Assets: The Series. Super is floaty garbage that has aged like milk and bosses are are super easy to cheese. Wall jumping and bomb jumps are clunky and awkward to pull off and require far too much time investment to properly learn. Maridia is a shit tier area too.

Other M just feels good. It doesn't feel clunky and has decent gameplay.

>Submerged Torvus
Fuck you i had repressed that

1>3>2

The strict 3 keys per 3 areas then 9 keys final part ruined 2 for me being my favorite.
2's bosses were best in series, and the dark world is an amazing concept I want to see done again.
3 was very linear but the gameplay and world design was on point.
I want 1's non linearity, 2's bosses and parallel dimension gimmick, and 3's world variety and gameplay improvements.

To know if he's shitposting or just another dobson

it's 2 > 1 > 3 you philistine

goat music tho

>Prime is linear as fuck without exploits and glitches
As is every Metroid except for the first one on NES.
>for a game that is presented as a non linear game.
It's not, what gives you the impression that it is?

For repeat playthroughs, your point has more weight. For first timers, not necessarily so.

>I have never played Super or Zero Mission
alternatively
>I suck at Super and Zero Mission

you could always pretend they're the same game in your headcannon. And that wouldn't even be wrong, each game is like an expansion of the previous.

They're a great bunch of games, but don't play the Trilogy version of the first game. Water ripple effects and the awesome charge beam effects on Samus' canon were removed while absolutely nothing about the port was enhanced.

That's exactly what I do anyways. But if I had to rank them, that's how I'd do it, even though they were all amazing games.

they enhanced the controls. It's literally easier to play because of that.

>while absolutely nothing about the port was enhanced.
The controls are much more fluid and natural. It has native widescreen. It has bloom lighting and I think it has improved textures too.

I recommend the GC version but please don't lie.

>I have never played Zero Mission, Super Metroid or Metroid 2 to an extent

Prime holds your hand way too goddamn much.

>Super is floaty garbage that has aged like milk and bosses are are super easy to cheese. Wall jumping and bomb jumps are clunky and awkward to pull off and require far too much time investment to properly learn.

The dolphin version is better anyway because of Anti Aliasing.

Yeah, I guess. I played through it so much that the upgrade to the manual aiming with the wiimote never felt necessary, though.

They didn't change the graphics at all aside from those effects being removed. Any visual improvements are just from what little upscaling the Wii did with the game.

>Prime holds your hand way too goddamn much.
turn off the hints nigga

Fuck off dobson. Only bad prime game is 3. So shitty.

Original NA Release
Chozo Lore - Hatchling

Chozo script translated.
As we struggle with the Great Poison, something stirs at the edges of our vision. It is the Hatchling Samus. We feel her, across the void, as she hunts the corrupted. Will our fates again be one? As our pride shatters, will prophecy become real? When all strength wanes from the Chozo, will it be the Hatchling who fulfills our legacy? True sight eludes us, for the Poison gnaws at all vision, leaving seers blind and filled with despair. Truth's blessing may come too late.

EU
Chozo Lore - Shining One

The power of our temple has been enough to halt the spread of the poison on Tallon IV, but whether the evil can ever be truly destroyed is not for our eyes to see. The future is cloudy to us; a world of veils where dark apparitions flit in the shadows. Within this strange world, one image stands out in the mist, flickering through the landscape, wraithlike. It is a human, a lone figure shining in the toxic shadows. We Chozo do not know what it is, but our hearts swell with hope at the promise of that glowing light. We will place our faith in our shrine; we will be there when the light shines upon our land.

Trilogy - Entrusted One

So many creatures suffer beneath the blight upon the land, and we Chozo are no exception. But for all of our pain, we can at least believe in the promise of the future. We have come to believe that a time may never come when we can once again open the door and banish the darkness we've contained. Even so, our vigilance will forever remain. We believe that on some far-off day, a savior will come and continue what we have begun. For that savior, we will leave our ancient weapons and armor--the soul who can gather them will be the Entrusted One, the only being who can reverse the evil that grows here.

Trilogy is good for 2 and 3, not 1.

ZM holds your hand more than Prime.

"no"

youtube.com/watch?v=vnC85I3wneg

But there's nothing stopping you from ignoring the bird statues.

You can get the varia suit, the ice beam, and the screw attack. early as fuck without a single glitch or exploit.

this autism. They're all basically saying the same thing.

>So many creatures suffer beneath the blight upon the land, and we Chozo are no exception. But for all of our pain, we can at least believe in the promise of the future. We have come to believe that a time may never come when we can once again open the door and banish the darkness we've contained. Even so, our vigilance will forever remain. >we we we we we we

God that writing is awful.

It wasn't as good as 1 or even 2. Fact.

I just copy and pasted it. I just think it's dumb they changed a boss-ass throwback into some bland generic prophecy bullshit.

I don't get why they even bothered

C-c-c-combo breaker

I liked it a little better than the first one

...

Still amazing. Valhalla was spooky as fuck.

prime 4 will not be nearly as good as any of the prime games from the original trilogy and the japs are gonna make samus look like a slutty anime girl and the ZSSfags and smashfags will win and the series will die

you can't prove me wrong

>>Boost Guardian and Spider Guardian

quit being such a bitch

>oh no someone has a different opinion than me, I'm fucking devastated.gif

fuck off moron, all 3 games are equally amazing, so what order someone puts them in is all up to personal taste

1 was revolutionary, but 2 improved the formula and 3 retained a lot of the improvements 2 introduced while dialing back the backtracking a bit

2 is my personal favorite, but if it's not yours I'm not going to cry at you like a little bitch

We need to purge every metroid fan whose first game was either super or prime.

You can't prove your claims right either, moron

my first was zero mission

do I need to be purged too?

Magmoor caverns are boring vanilla areas recycled from SM. Phenandra Drifts are great and Chozo Ruins are okay (too many damn mosquitoes). The interconnectedness and immersion is what makes it shine.

2 has sick atmosphere. When you get to Lower Torvus and the music kicks in, shit was good. Sanctuary Fortress is goat.

3 is basically "shit just got real", we need to kill Dark Samus fast. So Samus doesn't have time to screw around on a random planet and needs to cure herself and get rid of Phazon. You get to discover multiple planets with different races and lore AND raid the freaking Pirate Homeworld. It's one hell of a ride and is great if you don't want the backtracking from the previous entries but retain the core gameplay and level design.

>but 2 improved the formula
No it didn't, it laid the world out with a hub structure opposed to the beautifully interconnected world of Prime. In Prime 2 each area is more or less isolated from one another and has the progression of Agon -> Torvus -> Sanctuary Fortress opposed to the Prime which introduces an item in one area, has a shortcut using that item to get to another and so forth. Prime 1 and the first Dark Souls are the only 3D games that have macro world design on par with games like Super Metroid and A Link to the Past.

both claims are in a quantum superposition of being both right and wrong until the game comes out and we observe it thus collapsing its wave function

it's science
