final boss*
Why is it literally who? That's literally lavos
No, also holy fuck I'm actually fighting this guy now in CT and he is kicking my ass so hard. I was not expecting such a huge leap in difficulty. First phase is piss easy but the second phase is a asshole. I get the gimmick, kill the left pod so the right one lowers its defenses but lavos itself uses stupid as fuck strong attacks, grandstone is a 1hko on everyone but Crono.
Any advice? Been using Crono, Marle(Ice Sword 2 and healing), and swaping between Luuca (barrier) and Magus (dark bomb).
He's not the last boss for nothing.
You can cheese it by using one of Crono and Ayla's techs (forgot what it's called)
Replace Luuca/Magus with Ayla.

I forgot how it goes but I think you're supposed to kill the right one first
I beat it at my first try.
Skullface
Persona 4 and 5 are really bad with their final bosses but nobody seems to care.
>marle
>lucca
>magus
Huge advice is to stop being a huge faggot, that's all I got though honestly. Good luck.
Izanami was shit, but Yaldabaoth was fine.
The thing is the falcon strike hits everything when all you need to kill is the right pod.
No, the right pod has the most health at 30,000. The left one has 2,000 hp and lavos has 10,000. I believe you have to kill the left pod first, the right one then lowers it's defense to revive the left one.
I'm pretty attached to the 1000 AD group but I'll use anyone.
Maybe I'll just try killing the center one.
Magus is an edgy loner faggot that is too fucking edgy to be apart of any rad three man techs
fuck magus
I don't like him, he is easily my least favorite of the cast, he just seemed useful here. He could take a hit or two and not die here.
>Yaldabaoth
>God was behind the evil all along!
>He proceeded to steal the show for the final act
>His existence kind of ruined the whole theme of the game
>Final boss theme was pretty forgettable
I'll give you fact that they handled the final act miles better than 4. It made a great climax, probably the best in the series. It's just the central character around it I felt left to a lot to be desired.
I think they really did knock 1 (SEBEC) through 3's final bosses out of the park though.
that is literally lavos so definitely not a literaly who retard
*angry Lavos sounds*
Use whoever, I was just telling you that your party is awful.
It's like you picked all of the uncool characters on purpose.
you can just over flow his health and kill him in two turns if you're a bad enough dude. you need green dream though.
It doesn't fit, Lavos itself (first fase) it's so much better.
I didn't quite like Yabadabadoo. His fight was like a shittier Nyx Avatar/Shittier Brahman from DDS.
Fuck, the sound still played in my head perfectly.
youtube.com
Who could ever forget this?
>>His existence kind of ruined the whole theme of the game
>humans desire a god to feel safe
That's a pretty big theme.
As much as Brahman was shit, he had a solid battle tune and the battle itself was interesting as you are moving to different parts of him while fighting, giving the impression that he is massive
youtube.com
>and kill him in two turns
source
>that spoiler
Fuck. I guess I worded that poorly. I actually really liked Brahman as a boss fight, I was just saying Yabadabadoo was a shit version of it.
Then again, I'm biased and really like DDS.
use this motherfucker, let his health get extremely low, and then spam Frog Stomp - the move does more damage the less health Frog has. Also Chrono for his resurrection magic (Luminaire is boss too), and whoever you want for your third.
Like 5 final fantasy games have something like the concept of death or evil come out of nowhere after killing what you thought the big bad was
Lavos stinks and I don't like him
I don't mind a Chrono Trigger discussion thread, but the first post was the objectively correct answer with FF9/Necron
While everyone knows who Lavos is and doesn't fit the topic of the thread at all, the topic of the thread IS about final bosses that come out of nowhere with no explanation at all.
Good morning, Crono.
It is a bit dumb, but I enjoy it in a sense. Some extraterrestrial being comes to earth and fucks everything up. If it was more understood, it wouldn't be as intimidating. You're too busy trying to kick its ass to try and understand what it is and what makes it tick. Not sure why it had to look like such a retarded ayylmao though.
Is Lavos supposed to be like Adam?
How do you look at Lavos correctly again?
It looks like an old man.
I thought the ending of Battlestar Galactica was pretty shit desu senpai.
i time stamped it for you. you actually overflow both of his forms. ive done it like 1000 times.
It's just a giant space tick that burrows into planets, absorbs nutrients from it, lays its eggs, then fucks off. The form you fight inside as the final boss is just a weird creation based on what it gathered from the creatures of the planet, with an emphasis on humanoids since they were dominant.
what if there are others like lavos
how will we stop it then since dalton destroyed us all
user, Frog contends with Ayala for the weakest party member. Unless you fuck up your healing (which isthe only half useful thing Frog is actually capable of), his strongest attack is fucking Leap Slash, a 2x Physical Damage skill.
>Ayala
Shit, I obviously meant Marle.
I'm completely baffled as to how you could possibly play this game and be underleveled at any point.
Grind for a bit, I suppose. You are on the true end route, right? You've beaten the Black Omen and everything?
Also Falcon Hit, Luminaire, Flare, and Magus in general make quick work of this boss.
Would highly recommend you put a Haste Helm on Crono if you've got one and another on Ayla if you have two. Superspeed Falcon Hits will decimate Lavos. Just don't let him disable your status ailment immunity.
Marle only sucks because the base game is so fucking easy.
In hard mods or challenge runs she is the best because of life2 and haste. Also great healing dual techs.
Eh, even then, it's just not worth having such a hard dedicated healer on the team when you can do perfectly fine with items alone, to say nothing of even halfway decent healers like Robo or Frog.
Magus is trash against bosses, Marle is just trash. Use Ayla, Robo, or Lucca.
Now that theres a thread, can I ask why the game forced worst girl (Marle) on me? I beat it for the first time about a week ago (on DS) and I'm pretty sure theres different endings, but I'm assuming it was the best ending since we got married and everyone lived happily ever after. Fuck Marle.
There's like 11 endings I think.
Who ? Who ? Where ?
Because fucking Ayla might create a time paradox, Magus is optional, and thus can't have that kind of ending, Frog is a frog, and Lucca is the nerdy childhood friend who gets dumped for the princess, then learns the joys of hydraulic, robot-mounted sex-toys.
Product of its time, for one. It's a take on the "royalty falls for commoner" stuff and really you can see how much marle cares for crono as the plot progresses (and depending on wether or not you use the chrono trigger), so really it should come as no surprise. Also
>happily ever after
better not play cross then fuckboy
Thats Lavos. You spent the entire game trying to find a way to stop him from blowing up the planet. Hes kind of a big deal, I'm not sure if this is a jest
I actually started it a while back but couldn't get into it. I've heard though, that the events of Trigger fucked up Cross somehow
Kefka is a big literally who. in his introduction scene i thought he was some kind of comic relief bad guy
Basically. Don't quote me on that, but I recall the MCs from trigger showing up at some point as aparitions to pretty much say
>you fuuuuucking IDIOTS
But anyway if you can't get into cross at least look up its OST because hot damn
I did like the music, I got about 4-5 hours in, but I think the battle music was probably the worst battle music I've ever heard
That was kind of the point I think, hes just some chump you don't expect to be a problem, then he becomes god
Spoilers, and I played it a while ago, I expect a hole or an inaccuracy here and there. By all means, someone who knows their shit should clean up my mess.
So everyone dies, except Robo who (if my memory serves) gets integrated into an evil computer that wants to blow up the world for a reason I don't remember, I think something related to it being inevitable, so why the fuck not, and fan-theories exist that say Magus is one of the party members in disguise. And Dalton wins everything. Really. Assuming Dalton is the name of the guy I'm thinking of. The joke boss.
The bonus ending from DS has Magus' sister merging with Lavos to turn into an even more complicated beastie that wants to devour realities instead of planets, so it gets some extra-dimensional warp-fuckery tacked on to its story. Big downer ending that suggests everything the crew of Chrono Trigger did was for naught, as is suggested in Chrono Cross.
Now, my understanding is that, in some way, this extra-dimensional warp fuckery conflicted with the whole "fate" thing, since New-Lavos exists outside of fate, or some shit.
As I said, it's been a while, and the details of new-lavos are tricky to address if they aren't fresh in your mind.
I think robo became the main computer of FATE or some shit, and his main purpose was to pretty much control evolution, terraformig and what have you across eras to ensure nothing EVER fucks with the fabric of reality again. That didn't go so well
I can't help but sense a ton of wasted potential
I beat him pretty easy with the most boring team possible of Crono/Lucca/Marle last run I did.
Definitely, and it didn't help that this stuff was kind of a left fielder from Chrono Cross up to that point as well. Up until the last few scenes of the game, barring the guy who might be Magnus, you would have been forgiven for thinking Chrono Cross was named coincidentally.
It did answer a big question of Chrono Trigger in a convincing way though.
I think it's Lucca who questions why they seem to keep getting time portals to important moments in history, and wonders whether some other, greater entity is guiding them.
Cross kinda says "fuck you" to Trigger but ultimately you can interpret that things get straightened out after the final confrontation in a way that respects the efforts of the heroes of both games.
The new, 14th ending in CTDS reached through the post-credits sidequests just absolutely shits on Chrono Trigger and its themes though in a weak as fuck attempt to tie it closer to Cross and should be ignored.
dreamseeker blade tho
>All these chronofags
Real men use Ayla/Robo/Lucca or Ayla/Robo/Frog. It is manliest team.
I was actually thinking of that, at the beginning I thought they just appeared at moments where Lavos was (like how Magus "creates" him in 600AD, I didn't know at the time he was older than that) but then when Lucca mentioned it I assumed it was just some divine power guiding them
>FF9

>Lavos came from space as a seed and when he finished his deal he launched more seeds.
Is it ever adressed the possibility of other lavosi in space?
I thought there was only the one? I might have missed the dialogue. But at the end when me and Lavos were about to rumble, Lucca said something about it travelling to different planets, and anyone who got far enough to fight the real Lavos, he would extract their DNA for something since obviously they're pretty tough
>ultimately you can interpret that things get straightened out after the final confrontation in a way that respects the efforts of the heroes of both games.
how from the first game?
Nah. Just Robo, stapled to an insane computer in the future, trying to ensure the party's long-term destruction.
They mention the possibility, with a comment along the lines of "I don't even want to think about that", but it's not like they can go throughout space to exterminate every last one.
Gael
Didn't trigger originally stablish the "entity" was earth itself guiding them towards the removal of lavos? There's a lot of emphasis on the earth as a whole during the game, and the convenience of the time gates checks out with their current needs, with a mega portal conveniently helping them escape lavos' burst-awakening in the middle ages, and another oh-so-convenient warp guiding Lucca to save her mother as soon as she first mentions it. It all fits with the gaia theory where the earth itself is a living organism shaping itself as necessary to survive
Lucca says lavos manipulates livig things' DNA to harvest it for its own gains, which would explain its humanoid core. But yeah there's more angry porcupine avocados out there in space
see And yeah, I guess it would problem if another world's Chrono fuck up aginst an alt-Lavos
But Yu Yevon was great. Weak-ass pathetic parasite who hides behind religion using everyone else to protect himself. Thematic af
All the lavos spawns were killed, at least the ones in earth. there's several boss fights in the future mountain and black omen.
>all the ones in earth
My argument was that since Lavos came from space, wouldn't imply there was a Lavos who won? There fore sending its spawn to many planets, such as earth and other worlds?
There's always a small chance we might have ended up with the first ever lavos, all evolved up and sent on a space pilgrimage from whatever hellhole it crawled from to try and find a suitable host planet. But chances are there are others out there feasting on other planets. Deep space is serious business
You never know what could be going on in deep, infinite, space. The ocean is scary enough.
>Out of the things they tackle in a sequel
>Such as Crono and gang going to space and meet ayy lmaos and fight Lavospawns
But instead we got Chrono Cross, a divided fanbase and no more Chrono.
Creatures like Lavos and Jenova creep the shit out of me
>I didn't paid attention to what charaters are saying
user for fuck sake...
All the inbetweens games, stories, and whatever else certain don't help me try to stay interested and care for the games to be linked either. It just makes them feel dumber.
Feels too real to me
I want to believe Jenova, Lavos, and Giygas are all aliens of the same or similar race. The concept for each creature is fundamentally the same, assimilate and conquer. Only the methods used changed depending on the prevalence of superpowers in each world they try to dominate (Lifestream, Magic, and PSI respectively). With the life stream it attempted to gather as much in one area by manipulating (Using it's own cells to manipulate others bodies, using the lifestream as a superhighway). With magic it assimilated the most powerful ones through an evolutionary process that took thousands of years. With PSI is used the telekinetic abilities to manipulate the minds of of those without a strong conscience.
When are we going to find out the next story of these super beings?
The real final boss of Chrono Trigger, much harder than Lavos Core
Trigger only had people speculating that the planet was this entity. A perfectly reasonable speculation, given that the entity actually being a fate-altering computer from an alternate future where they succeeded, but Dalton took over the world sounds fucking retarded.
These are the most interesting antagonists to me. They don't really have a complex motive, they're just taking over and conquering as an instinct in a way. Then the protagonists show their will to protect the planet by stopping them. It's simple but it gets me.
Hey. At least you got Chrono Trigger's story repeated in FF7, that the fans missed and focused on the emo yaoi fantasy and the developers went with that, right?
Everyone loves The Thing, baby.
I just spammed the most powerful attack i had over and over until he died
I still like the earth best, and given how CT probably was made with not much foresight into sequel territory save for schala shenanigans I still think the earth would be valid if trigger was a standalone title. I just really like games that hint towards the god damn planet itself stomping down and saying it's had enough
Necron
This works about 100% of the time, heal if necessary
>Any advice?
Give Crono the golden stud and spam luminaire.
>Lavos
