Because it's fun. I've probably played more of it with family than I probably even did with the lifetime of the entire Wii. That just got people in with the meme of motion controls and they got bored of it quick.
Now I'll be sitting around, and a family member will ask for a quick best of 3 Mario Kart session or some Tetris. Hell, not a single member of my family outside of my dad has played any FPS or TPS and they're hyped for Splatoon 2. Both my mom and sister are getting their own Switches soon.
Plus the ladies fucking love it. It's like the anti-3DS when it comes to poon. They want to play it, even in tabletop.
