>Battlefield 3 was released 6 years ago
>Battlefield 2 was released 12 years ago
>There are people nostalgic over BF3 today as people were for BF2 then
Battlefield 3 was released 6 years ago
do people still play this on pc?
Yes but its mostly fucking operation shitro
so I might as well get 4?
>tfw BF1 will be praised to no end when the next one comes out
your usual BF cycle
mostly Metro or Noshahr Canals TDM
EA killed Battlelog, and only BF4 and Hardline were given the new server browser update, so probably not.
Jesus Christ, it doesn't seem like graphics have progressed as much as they should have during the last 6 years. BF3 still looks like it's from the modern era of games. You couldn't say that in 2000 about 1994.
Thats mostly operation locker which is basically BF4s equivalent of operation shitro. And guess what, operation shitro is also in the DLC for that game so if you get the DLC thats what you'll be playing
>tfw BF1 will be praised to no end when the next one comes out
Will it? Battlefield lost its charm when it became yet another annual shooter (though now it's alternating with Battlefront), not to mention all the design flaws that DICE stubbornly refuse to fix throughout each iteration.
...
I still play both sometimes.
I have BF2, 2142, BC2, BF3, BF4 and BF1 all installed on my computer and play them very often.
>tfw BF2 is great but it's vastly overrated by people who haven't played it in almost a decade
I am honestly more nostalgic over ET:Wolfenstein than for BF2.
Yes, I can find servers for stuff other than Metro too. Don't be fooled by the people who don't play the game. There's honestly more Noshar servers than Metro.
Graphics have stagnated and it's more apparent now than ever. A 6 - 7 year old game today has the same loss of graphics quality as a 2 - 3 year old game back then.
BF2 has its flaws, such as the useless iron sights and the fucking claymores. Problem with DICE is they're an "innovative" studio rather than an "iterative" one, which is why the newer games don't fix problems from the older games and add on new problems on top of that.
I'm more nostalgic towards 1942, but I'm pretty sure it would suck now and feel incredibly clunky
I remember when the game went free-to-play on Origin and the Axis team always teamkilled each other because of the red nameplates.
I played it recently and I didn't match up on either Locker or Metro. It's really not that bad.
Seeing Battlefield 3 on PC on max was like the last time I was blown away by a game graphically.
I might have done something similar playing that game 9 years old for the first time...
BF2 has tons of flaws that the new games don't have.
It's just that the new games have flaws of their own.
Imo BF4 > BF1 > BF3 > BC2 for the modern ones and BF2 Spec Ops > Vanilla BF2 > BF2142 > BF1942 for the old ones.
I can go back to play any of these and I can see the flaws each one has. I like the myth that the old BF games had "tons of teamwork", go join any random server in the BF2 Revival project and see how much teamwork you have. Similar to the modern games if I have to be honest. And vehicles are so overpowered in the old games, impossible to take down solo. At least in the new games I can solo any vehicle I want. And the balance, go use the RPK in BF2 and tell me it's not objectively better than anything else.
BF2 has such a shitty netcode. Stuttering and rubberbanding all the time.
>killed Battlelog
Thank fucking God, web-based server browser is pure cancer. Why the FUCK wouldn't you make an in-game browser?
Battlelog is honestly better than the in-game browser though.
>And the balance, go use the RPK in BF2 and tell me it's not objectively better than anything else.
Yeah, that was great. DICE took their sweetass time nerfing it too, like they do today.
I don't mind vehicle nerfs either, but DICE seems determined to make the AT class the Ubermensch, which mean vehicles aren't fun at all unless you play like a bitch because of all the rockets shooting at you.
reminder battlefield 3 has more active players than hardline
So I fucking loved BFBC2 back in the day and the BF3 beta, I just love the feel of BF combat, but I stepped away from video games around the time BF3 came out. What's the best BF to get into right now, BF3 4 or 1? And there's so much DLC for all of them I have no idea what the fuck is even going on. Is it just fucked? What's the best Battlefield experience I can get right now?
lul bad company 2 is what killed the battlefield series. either stop being ignorant and play battlefield 2 or just quit because every battlefield game after bad company is just a rehash of the same shit.
Nah fuck you. I played BF2 and it was a good game for its time but it doesn't hold up. Bad Company 2 has honestly aged better than BF2.
BF4 is very alive and you can get the DLC for cheap. There's certainly good populated servers running all maps on rotation.
BF1 is great and I love it but I don't think it's a good introduction to the series and it might turn people off with the weapon selection.
I'd say get BF4 for cheap (I think it's 20€, probably less on a key site) and get into it.
It's the best modern BF game by far.
bf1942 was the only one that felt like it had a good balance
I actually piked up BC2 on sale the other day, played an hour then refunded it. Guns felt horrendous, though I think that's more of a criticism for all the BF games. I remember liking BC2 when it was released, but times haw changed I guess. I just can't get over how terrible every single FUCKING gun felt in that game. What changed between now and 2010?
>tfw you played the fuck out of BF2
>tfw you played the fuck out of BF2142
these were the days
still waiting for Battlefield with 128 player maps, seems like a logical progression for DICE
Easier to outsource it to poo-in-loos.
>game 1942
>game 2
>game 2142
>game 3
>game 4
>game subtitle
>game 1
they surely must do that in bf5/2143(probably 2145)
>128 player
bf4/bf3/bf1
bf2142/bf2/all other bf games
bf4/bf3/hardline/bf1*
I think that would rape most people's PCs
maybe it'll happen in another 10 years
bf3 was meh but fun for sniper warz
i put far more time into bc2
didn't touch bf4 or battletechdemofront
got bf1, had fun but it got old fast
i hear battlefront2 is trash
hardline was kinda fun if you think of it as a BF spinoff
something about using ziplines and grappling hooks everywhere was really enjoyable to me
>played BF3 yesterday for the first time in ages
>still lots of players
>still dope
what went so wrong with bf4?
Does anyone else feel like BF4 is redundant? Like, every other Battlefield felt like a new game, whether it improved graphics significantly, or was different in some other way, but BF4 feels like BF3 DLC or something.
just a shitty launch desu
It has never been an annual shooter though, there's always at least 2 years between mainline games, 3 years in bf1 case
Bf4, get the premium edition it has all dlc
Bf1 gets boring very fast with limited weapon selection (like 3 each class). They killed rush which was my favourite game mode too
Nope, in bf3 beta there was 128 player servers and it worked fine
I bought picture related yesterday. Played it yesterday for the first time ever, and it still has servers online. And not just a handful of servers, but a whole list of them and full of players. This is the only Battlefield game I have played since the originals, and that was like 15 years ago.
BF4 is actually fine. The guys at DICE LA did a pretty good job fixing the game and balancing it despite some of the stupid changes they made like nerfing the SRAW.
All battlefields are alive on pc
>Playing nu-Battlefield
This game is where it's at now.
Battlefield 3 is hands down the best multiplayer fps I've ever played and nothing will ever feel as good as my first months playing it with my dudebros and messing around with the vehicles in my new PC with max graphics.
fuck how did I miss that
You forgot
>game country
you communist faggot
