At least speed running is interesting to watch. If that's autistic, then I can't imagine the spectators for golf, let alone the people that play it.

Foaming, the hobby for people who are obsessed with trains. It doesn't sound too bad at first, but then you hears stories about these guys stalking railroad personnel and trying to steal equipment and shit.

I have no problem with that.

But I can question mental state of person who plays game over and over again every day of the week and resets the game after 7 hours of playing due to tiny mistake.

They have to be on the spectrum.

The fascination is that there might be one "totally correct" path that gives the fastest time possible. It's like there's an invisib;e puzzle in there, that if you input everything correctly, the ultimate run will be revealed.

Also, a lot of people don't like the glitches, but this is actually one the most fascinating elements of speedrunning and one of the primary motivations; finding new glitches. Many (if not most) of the glitches found in games like OoT or Mario 64 were due to speedrunners trying to find faster times; they are almost like the scientists of the gaming world, constantly trying to see if the game can be manipulated in different ways.

TO me that is really the appeal of it, not necessarily the time, but trying to find new ways to exploit the engine. When the "wrong warp" in OOT was discovered it was like the game had been hiding this secret for all these years
