Why is it so hard to find horror games that play like RE7?

Why is it so hard to find horror games that play like RE7?
RE7 was the most old school horror game I've played in years.

Before RE7 the last horror game I played that had ammo and health management was Dead Space 1 and that was years ago.
Why is it every horror game now is just running and hiding? why is it so rare to see classic survival horror now?

Is this supposed to be a joke?

no, it's a bait.

Tell me why?

How is anything I said bait?

No one can seriously type such bullshit with a straight face.

>I'm just going to say he's talking shit without saying why.

Is it just because theirs no fixed cameras?
Is the the only reason why you don't think RE7 and Dead Space count?
Seriously what's the reason?

>thinks RE7 is any way oldschool
>only "oldschool" horror game before that was DS
tl;dr: either OP is a literal Xbot, or a bait.

No, it's because RE7 is terrible turd and an LP-bait for the Twitch-viewers. Anyone claiming this crap is anything like oldschool REs was clearly born in the year 2004.

>Why is RE7 not a survival horror game?
>Lets players REEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Also what other horror games after Dead Space had ammo and health management? I want to know.
The only one that comes to mind is Fatal Frame 5 and Siren Blood Curse.

>Also what other horror games after Dead Space had ammo and health management?
Alan Wake
Deadly Premonition
Cry Of Fear
Underhell: Chapter 1
SH: Homecoming & Downpour (no matter that they suck)
... list goes on.

>Alan Wake
Don't even bother, that game is overrated garbage.
Literally not a single scare in that game besides a brief shudder from the single jump scare in the game.

Thank you user.
I mostly made this thread to get some horror game recommendation that weren't hide and seek games.
And to discuss the current state of horror games.

Never heard of Underhell I need to check that out.
Also didn't Alan Wake have regenerating health? no too sure if that counts.

I remember the atmosphere being very nice.
Sad will probably never get another one.

They're underage and don't actually remember what survivor was. Their idea of Resident Evil is being an invincible pro wrestling gunship that mows down hordes of zombies for bonus points.

To answer your question though, you should try The Evil Within. It's very similar and made by the same guy who made RE7 and RE1.

>Deadly Premonition
good game but definitely not survival horror.
Alien: Isolation
Resident Evil: Revelation

I think he made 4 but not 7.
As for The Evil Within I did like that game forgot to mention it.
Only problem was it had major pacing issues.

Alan Wake is absolutely worth playing through, especially if you're a fan of Twin Peaks. The game feels a bit drawn out and the environment starts to feel pretty repetitive but the core gameplay and some good unscripted spooks make the experience worthwhile. Decent enough story and voice acting as well.

Alien: Isolation is a fantastic game but is still kind of a hide and seek game but its the best one out their.
As for Resident Evil: Revelation good game but it felt like it was trying to be far too action heavy at times.

Definitely felt like that anytime you weren't on the ship for sure.

Not Mikami. The guy who invented "survival horror"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokuro_Fujiwara

Seems I was still wrong though. He created the original Resident Evil and the concepts behind it though which are what were used in making RE7.

If you're looking for a good RE game then give Operation Raccoon City a try.

...

>Operation Raccoon City
Why would I want to play the second worst RE game right behind Umbrella Corps?

You just described RE7 to the atom.

How is RE7 anything like Alan Wake?

>Why is it every horror game now is just running and hiding?
Because its a lot cheaper and faster than designing a combat system
