What do you think of pixel art in video games?

What do you think of pixel art in video games?

>tfw royal guard scene

Pixel art in video games is not bad.

Quick Barney fag, show us our wrong doings by posting sauce for us.

>Pixelshit
Garbage

Remind me
Did you actually get to fuck celestia?

Where is the source, barneyboy?

why haven't mods found a way to filter barneyfag
just make all of his usual lines count as spam, getting sick and tired of this shit

No

the guards spitroast you and she watches

...

I see pixels there, but barely any art

...

Last time i played, the Zebra had a small scene where she turns into Swiss Cheese.
The game has been updated or anything?

kys

Pretty nice style.

You Barneyfags need to fucking kill yourselves

fucking die

kys

Stuff like these with actual effort is good.

Stuff like this is laziness masquerading as art.

How do you guys fucking know what the source is? Are you all closet furries?

Barneyfags can't make anything good, so no surprise there

>Are you all closet furries?

MLP produces tons of good porn user

This is apparently that shitty Banned from Equestria Daily game.

Eh. The simplified characters are generally easy to draw, so the better artists are often merely better painters, and the sheer quantity is owed to how simple it is.

The whole thing is a tongue-in-cheek flash game. I don't think it holds itself to an artistic standard, and it doesn't strive to be porn too much either. It's basically a point-and-click adventure where the end result of every puzzle is that two horses fuck each other.

not really

>The whole thing is a tongue-in-cheek flash game
Which is fine, but my point still stands. There are games with this style that are trying to be taken seriously.

Animations in this were actually pretty well done

By the way is it just me or does most pixel art games have bad animations?

>Barney
>good
>at all

i hate these freaks

I can't tell if you're mad at Barneyfags or at ponyfags.

I know Barneyfag wants everyone to side with him, but Barneyfag is Barneyfag. He earned that moniker by being Barneyfag.

Pixel art is an easy way to make your assets work well together, and there are plenty of games where it's perfectly serviceable. Because it's meant to imitate a graphical limitation on hardware that doesn't have that limitation, it can be a little jarring. I'm especially triggered when sprites rotate in games like Undertale, and you see this jagged shape tween around like a cardboard cut out.

Personally I think if you're going minimalist, it's better to embrace the modern style of clean, geometric shapes, that you can see in games like N++, Unexplored, and Flat Heroes.

How come so many people here recognize this image?

>shitty
shit taste

Everyone on Sup Forums played Banned from Equestria.

I can't believe how often I used to fap to this.

Updates never ever.

THIS IS BULLSHIT

It depends.

Is it authentically retro like Shovel Knight?
Does it actually give the game an interesting aesthetic like Devil Daggers?

That's okay.

Does the game advertise itself as being "8-bit" when it isn't 8-bit?
Does the game have pixels of inconsistent size?
Does the game mix pixel art with non-pixel effects?
Does the game have sprites made of super jumbo pixels which can be rotated or displaced less than one pixel length?

This is trash.

The attached image is a screenshot of The Last Door, which would have been a good game if the graphics weren't intentionally bad. I'm not sure if they were going for """retro""" or just a minimalist style in general, but they overdid it by a lot. It's pretty clear that they only cared about the story, but the graphics are such a distraction that they subtract from it. They also did some weird shit that doesn't make sense. There were some scenes in which I could see fucking artifacts on the edges of the so-called pixels, like the background was a screenshot of a blown-up image re-saved as a JPG.
