The pinnacle of video game voice acting was SMS.
Pretty much. He fucking delivered. My favourite voice acting in any RPG or game in general.
Arc Rise Fantasia was better
Honestly, i bet they clapped at the studio when he delivered that line. This is way too good.
What part of the game was this?
ARF is the Samurai Cop of JRPGs
I like how Shulk only got angry because Zanza was influencing him through the Monado. His real self is a pussy bitch that wants to fight his enemies with friendship.
It's ironic how great of a character stablishing moment this is, and the game shits all over it later by making Shulk yet another boring pacifist JRPG protagonist.
I remember dropping the game when he decided to not kill the dude who murdered his waifu.
Didn't even pay attention to this line at all. This is coming from someone who recently started playing XBC
An eye for an eye doesn't really solve anything though.
You're probably not very emotional or wired in that way to appreciate it. Or you probably just don't really care about story or tuned into appreciating it.
>tfw Rex's VA sounds like trash compared to Shulk's
I hope they delay the game for the sole purpose of getting someone better to voice him
You can't honestly expect me to take this scene seriously after being spoiled that Fiora returns. The constant grinding and combat turned me off the game. I enjoyed the music and world design a lot though.
I have yet to find a game with better voice acting than Xenoblade or Kingdom Hearts.
Like I said, you're just wired different and you seem like someone is awkward so that's why you don't appreciate the voice acting here.
I think the main party in FFXV has some great voice acting. Shame about the secondary characters. Cindy
>you seem like someone is awkward
Elaborate.
Legacy of Kain tho
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
I can see this isn't pushing you at all!
I got chills the first time
I still do
You seem like an autist
Is this bait? It sounds fucking dreadful.
Persona series generally has very strong VA
i personally think Rhapsody was the pinnacle because singing is much more difficult. but theyre both great in their own right. xc exceeds in dramatic cutscene performances
can't tell if Sup Forums is memeing or if they like this guy unironically.
Super Mario Sunshine?
What would a thread be without an underage psychologist.
No this is, even unironically.
No.
Really the whole English dub in general is insane.
It's supposed to. I'm tired of JRPG protagonists saving the world on some holy quest of peace and love. I was excited at first because I thought It'd be a personal story about revenge and about a nice good guy being pushed too far into becoming a bad person.
Instead I got yet another pacifist protagonist who doesn't want to hurt anyone. Also, bringing Fiona back was stupid as all hell. She should've remained dead, with Melia being Shulk's chance of moving on and letting go of his anger, before he refuses it and goes all the way for his revenge quest.
I remember thinking the game would do the usual JRPG party thing up until near the end, when everyone kind of realized what Shulk and Reyn were becoming, and decided to not take part in it, with the game ending with just Reyn and Shulk going for revenge, the same way it started
Meh, it's kind of lame and has a couple of particularly silly parts, but I've heard worse. Still nowhere near MMX4.
>you're emotionally blunted if you aren't an emotionally unstable individual that can't take weeb trash seriously
nice b8 m8

Step aside
Is this ironic or am I missing something?
The VO in xenoblade made me cringe.
Explain how it sounds good. It sounds like they're reading the script for the first time.
It was the moment that made me stick with the english csst and not the japanese for once. Definitely a highlight of western voice acting.
Highlight of MGSV for me. This is the example I use when pointing towards good voice acting in video games.
>oi ya really made a right mess o this I'll knock ya block off I swear on me mum innit
That scene
The thing is is that it doesn't sound like a typical American anime dub you hear in JRPGs which is why it's so refreshing. Like Shulk actually screams out loud and you can feel the anguish in his screaming. Rarely do you ever get voice acting that is as sophisticated as that in JRPGs. It sounds mature.
No.
Ah, you're one of those baitomaniacs who can't stop baiting.
Nah.
RAD was such a tryhard in this game. He was so desperate to sound like a good actor around Kiefer. I remember he also kept tagging Kief on twitter hoping for some interaction. Pretty sad.
Why are the best girls always ignored?
This is pretty bad.
Dragon Quest VIII was also good. I think americans are the problem. They don't want to spend much since fans usually prefer the original voices anyway.
So they just hire random people from the streets instead of actors.
Right, doesn't make it particularly memorable though. There are a plethora of good JRPG english dubs, Xenoblade Chronicles isn't one of them.
Yes it is. Only Shulk's VA actually knocks it out of the park but the dub is consistently good.
No, they hire from the same small pool of VAs who aren't particularly good or bad. That's the problem.
xenoblade was good but man this line was beyond cringeworthy, especially considering what happens later in the game, awful v/a.
It's not so much the voice actors that is the problem, it's the voice direction. You get good performances from voice actors with strong voice direction. There are many fantastic voice actors who aren't as popular or aren't paid as much but they usually can't get a foot in the door because the network isn't there or the company only works with the same set of voice actors because they're all fucking buddies or something.
It's why I love Xenoblade's dub because who of us knew who Adam Howden, Jay Taylor, Carina Reeves, Rufus Jones, Blake Ritson, and the rest were before Xenoblade? None of us. And now we have Xenoblade 2, and from the trailer the voice actors are people who I've never heard of again and that's refreshing.
There's nothing "cringeworthy" about it. It's a guy who had his love interest and childhood friend fucking gutted in front of him and his reaction is perfectly natural and human. Don't be a fucking cunt mate.

Also, The Last Story was legit better than Xenoblade and it's a shame how it bombed.
Adam Howden was in a few popular vidya before XBC.
No this character is, boyo.
Game is worth playing in english for this guys 11/10 performance alone.
Right game but wrong character
why do you feel the need to defend this atrocious and unpleasant dub so badly? even going as far to prowl Sup Forums in search of dissenting views. i'm entitled to my own opinions as much as you are, if you take that personally you should leave and go back to where you came from.
You know what I can agree with that Krishna was also an 11/10.
I could listen to him talk about how I should become one with him through his love and salvation in that buttery smooth voice of his all day long.
I just slightly prefer m'dad.
You know, I thought Metal Face was a lot more interesting before he started talking
Then Xord opens his fat stupid mouth and things start going downhill
Xenoblade had the coolest fucking premise: "Your childhood friend and lifelong love interest just got torn to shreds by a psychopatic madman robot in front of you. Go get revenge"
Why did they have to fuck it up with yet another MUH PEACE protagonist
FF12 probably is my favorite dub. Not sure if it's the BEST but it's comfy as fuck and the writing is excellent.
Dunno, it sounds too much like a video game, that's normally fine, but when you have a realistic style like MGS it comes off as phony.
Consider xenogears
>"Atrocious"
>"unpleasant"
you're simply a d-bag gamer who spreads vitriol on gaming forums. You are a waster. You're only here to strike a nerve rather than intelligent and mature discourse. There's so many like you. It's easy to hate things and use extremes when describing things.
It's obvious you wouldn't get far as a video game creator because you lack good discernment and maturity or even an artistic eye. It's why you're just a pig-faced consumer who really doesn't have anything interesting to say at all.
It's fine if you don't like the dub, but using words like atrocious and unpleasant really makes you look silly. Don't worry about it. Enjoy life and maybe grow up a bit.
Stop responding to obvious bait.
Pinnacle of dubbing, that's for sure
>d-bag gamer
How old are you? Consider checking the global rules.
Is Xenoblade worth emulating?
>this entire post
imagine being this much of a pseudo and getting this upset over someone not enjoying a game you like. i bet you wank off the likes of Kojima too as "art", don't reproduce.
Mate, it's worth your fucking house and family. Go play it. NOW!
Nothing has beaten VA in Legacy of Kain. It's amazing
youtube.com
>11/10
Have you ever heard a real Irish accent before? Xander Mobus does some strange Irish-Scottish-American hybrid accent and his voice isn't nearly deep enough to voice Dagda.
Forward it to 7:45 for the greatest voice acting of ALL TIME.
It's best emulated
It looks and play awesome on dolphin.
Get out some more you manchild.
I'm not a fan of Kojima actually. I couldn't care less about MGS or his games.
I dropped the game when they revealed fiora was alive.
The cutscenes were pretty dope tho.
>voice isn't nearly deep enough to voice Dagda.
What are you talking about the nip version had ikeda shuuichi and his voice isn't that much deeper either and havibg a real thick irish accent would sound out of place.
nice spoilers faggot
Xenoblade's was great too, but Fire Emblem Echoes had my favorite English dub in recent memory. Berkut in particular was top-notch, the VA really sold his breakdown despite the only on-screen visuals being static sprites.
It's a 7 year old game.
Also metal face is that bad guy from the first cutscene, same VA.
because Fiora is better
I fucking love this guy
SHULK, I-
