WHY CAN'T WE HAVE A NORMAL CONTINUITY IN THIS GODDAMN SERIES?
WHY IS EVERYTHING SO FUCKING STUPID
WHY DOES SAKAMOTO EXIST
Metroid bread
Because zebesians are a hive mind and bees arent according to some retarded fans despite M1 and the definition of a hivemind in science saying otherwise.
COME ON user GET THE FUCK IN HERE
Name a single Nintendo franchise with a cohesive, consistent continuity.
prime isn't canon, sorry
let's just get it out of the way shall we?
custom robo
Pikmin
>The X can do more than your simple restrictions because it HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES IN GAME and its fucking science fiction.
Such as? Name me one other time that wasn't an obvious, obvious fucking gameplay abstraction like the scientist MYSTERIOUSLY NOT STRIPPING NAKED BEFORE TRANSFORMING.
Your in-game proof is literally nothing. You can't find a single thing backing you up except one sprite that has artistic reasons behind operating like it does. Let me break it down for you: Nightmare doesn't come out of its shell because it's SCARIER that way. The melting design is much more frightening than, say, if the armor burst off and it looked like an orange turd with eyes. Not knowing lets the imagination fill in the blanks and is a time-tested method of establishing a scary design, more than showing unnecessary details that makes it look goofy. This is why the scene with the Xenomorph crab-walking was cut from Alien, and that's why you never get a full shot of Nightmare. Again, it's a fucking abstraction. Like the fact that it's on a 2d plane; clearly, that wouldn't be so in the real world. But the game is depicting a version of events that's a carefully crafted experience, that sometimes requires concessions to be made from what's shown and what is actually happening. For instance, the Omega Metroid is stated to have been destroyed by the gunfire from Samus's ship, rather than the Ice Beam alone. But this is obviously not the case in gameplay, because it simply wouldn't look as good as a final confrontation would. In addition, the Omega Metroid changing colour as it's damaged is not literal, but just a gameplay abstraction showing damage being taken by the creature.
Is this clear enough? Because I can make a chart, I know autistic children such as yourself like charts. Very literal, easy to understand.
Also, it's a fucking The Thing homage. It can't copy metals. The theme is body horror.
Stop
It could be worse, at least it's not Zelda.
>hurr ill just repeat myself
Why didnt the armor drop to the floor like the security bot once the X-core is released? Not nightmares fucking face you assclown, the X-core with the barbed shell. Why did the entire structure, armor around its body included transform into it?
(in science fiction) a unified consciousness or intelligence formed by a number of alien individuals, the resulting consciousness typically exerting control over its constituent members.
no insect is a hive mind buddy.
This is for you fag-boi
Hold up, I've figured out what the series needs.
...
>In addition, the Omega Metroid changing colour as it's damaged is not literal, but just a gameplay abstraction showing damage being taken by the creature.
Except ORGANIC CREATURES ON FUCKING EARTH can literally change color at will to look more intimidating or hidden.
Do you even biology?
...
>Federation Fucking Soccer
2Chan's just given me my new favorite spinoff idea
>Federation Fucking Soccer
And here I thought japs were humorless.
Kirby and Pikmin
I just spent four hours bickering with other losers about space sailor moon, quantum dickery, continuity, space snot, and a hack writer.
What the fuck am I doing with my life. It's been nine years. You've fucking ruined me.
A hive mind or group mind may refer to a number of uses or concepts, ranging from positive to neutral and pejorative. Examples include:
------Collective consciousness or collective intelligence, concepts in sociology and philosophy
------Groupthink, in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome
------The apparent consciousness of colonies of social insects such as ants, bees, and termites
------Swarm intelligence, the collective behaviour of decentralized, self-organized systems, natural or artificial
------Universal mind, a type of universal higher consciousness or source of being in some esoteric beliefs
------Group mind (science fiction), a type of collective consciousness
-------Egregore, a phenomenon in occultism which has been described as group mind
Its almost like the term hive mind is a generalization for the two concepts were are BOTH talking about.
Fuck.
These threads used to be so nice.
I've just been shitposting about ridley clones, listening to witchhouse, and contemplating a sandwich while waiting for sleep
Dont worry, your not alone.
Check out this sweet map though!
Where is the problem i dont understand?
Why isnt everybody happy?
People who like the Prime series het a sequel
People who like the Sidescroller 2D get a sequel
God if nobody answer with an good answer this will rather cement my opinion that the Metroid fanbase is a cancerous ammount of fucking people who should be killed.
Complaining for fucking years that no game is released , whining in every thread about
>i would buy the console if they would make a Metroid game
and now finally after so many year everybody gets a game and you niggers still bitch?
Jesus, man, an enemy turning red to indicate damage or rage is the most videogamey thing there is. Fucking Bowser does it. It even shows up for other bosses in the same game like Serris, Yakuza, Nettori and Ridley, not to mention every Core X that doesn't shoot you. Again, it's a gameplay abstraction and not necessarily representative of the in-canon events.
They have their moments.
Yeah cool nice someone gimme my microscope
The whole Metroid franchise is in dire need for a reboot to be quite frank with you guys.
>beat SA-X
>get to omega
>nothing works
>SA-X saves me
>get health back and nothing still works even when trying to jump low and hit its body with missles
>samus keeps doing her knee animation making me think another cut scene has to play
>it doesnt
>start attacking with normal charged beams at body by running at it
>it works
>already too low health and die
>have to do SA-X over again
good game you got here metroid fags
Don't reply to the tripfag
I'm happy with what we've seen of Samus Returns so far, though I'm cautious of the Other M stink that Sakamoto seems to want on everything. I wish it was sprites instead of 3D models but that was never going to happen. I'm pretty happy overall.
>reboot
STOP
I wasnt saying it was literal. I was saying creatures changing color happens naturally so why wouldnt the X also have the ability to mimic any color at will.
See
For the actual response to this clusterfuck
>SARMS
Prime was a reboot in a sense and it sold tremendously.
>The SA-X demonstrates how to hurt the metroid before you absorb it and gain the power to do it yourself
Low-test bait.
Mario
When your creator doesn't even know the what term bounty hunter is supposed to mean, you should understand you're in for some dumb bullshit.
In his defense, it doesn't charge up the beam when hurting it.
>Samus gets two grapple beams
>connects them to giant fists
>joins boxing tournament
SA-X isn't even hard once you get it into a loop
>Kirby
Wrong. There are a few different takes on the setting.
How is that defense?
It was never bounty hunter buddy.
It was Space Hunter originally in M1 which is a mistranslation of Space Warrior. It was decided bounty hunter would appeal more to western audiences and M3 was made to appeal to both markets a lot more.
Half of those meanings make no sense in the context you guys were throwing shitfits about.
The Omega Metroid is not an X creature, though? And even if it was, the X wouldn't have the ability to change colour in that form because the Omega Metroid doesn't have that ability.
And I explained why Nightmare's body doesn't drop like the arms. It's scarier if you don't see the goofy turd-like body under that metal shell. Again, it's a separation of gameplay and real events used to save time and to preserve atmosphere.
>Nintendo: Here you fagbabies go, 2 metroids.
>Metroid fagS: b-but what will we bitch about now.....
>M-MUH CONTINUITY.
The Omega Metroid was the easiest boss in the game dude.
>It was Space Hunter originally in M1 which is a mistranslation of Space Warrior.
You alone can defeat a certain warrior! You can vanquish the legendary Space Warrior.
>reboot
Kill yourself.
Yeah I just did it again adn it was a cake walk im retarded
whats with these games and shitty final bosses? Zero Mission with Robot Ridley, Super with Mother Brain and Now Fusion with Omega?
>reboot
I wouldn't mind Samus being in an F-Zero game, would be neat desu
mostly just want a new F-Zero in general
Mother Brain is supposed to be CINEMATIC
Mother Brain is one of the best bosses in Super dude, are you kidding? It's the best example of a cinematic fight done correctly.
think of it as being a mid point between a scripted boss and a non-scripted boss for super and fusion.
so is the omega metroid
...
He's not wrong, but I would wait until Sakamoto is gone for that.
SA-X is really the final boss. The Omega is more like a "oh shit" moment. Not an actual fight.
What are you talking about, it's the easiest boss ever.
You literally just stand in the corner, aim diagonally and spam missiles till it's dead.
Takes no effort or thought whatsoever.
F-ZERO F-ZERO
Kaga FE, but then again that's less than half the games
>The Omega Metroid is not an X creature, though?
FUCK YOUR STUPID
The metroid is a creature. OK
Creatures can sometimes change color at will. OK
No one knows the full extent of metroids abilities because the science always goes bad. OK
the X are infact made or organic material. OK
the armor around the security bot is shed when the core is revealed. OK
when fighting nightmare it would indeed be stupid to see the turd leave its shell. OK
HOWEVER it could have easily have simply dropped to the floor upon defeat leaving an empty husk of the main body making you think its over. ONLY to have the x-core emerge from the shell similar to the security bot. NOT REVEALING THE TURD
Get it?
Also did you know that clothing is MADE OF ORGANIC MATERIAL, and many of the shells found on creatures are as hard as metel yet completely organic? That creatures can in fact change color.
So maybe, just maybe, that "shell" was really the X creating a natural carapace, that was colored like metal, that reverted with the X only after losing its weaponry and more.
So now do you understand what I am saying?
The X dont need to replicate metal when organics can already surpass it and look exactly the same.
So now tell me, where is the proof for either side? Because both are valid.
So fuck off because I just explained everything in a completely valid way using in game information. None of this "its just a game so it doesnt matter" bullshit.
Zero Mission > Prime > Prime 2 > Prime 3 > Metroid II > Super Metroid > Metroid Fusion
ungh thinking HARD!!!
Reboots are complete shit. Instead of trying to fix things, or at least attempting to keep cohesion in the first place, devs just go "Oh well, our story is a clusterfuck because we have no forward thinking whatsoever. Guess we better throw everything that made fans like our games and just start on a clean slate, haha"
Sakamoto has got little to do with it. It's more on the idea that if you made a mess out of your story, try to untangle it instead of throwing the entire thing away. Otherwise, it's basically backstabbing the fanbase.
This actually is good. I would be okay with these three merging, it might mean they actually get consistent games.
Fuck anything Sakamoto is involved with.
That motherfucker has the biggest case of mommy issues I have ever seen. You would think Nintendo would have gotten rid of this guy by now.
Give a 2D Metroid to fucking Klei Entertainment and it's fucking guaranteed to be gold.
>Beat the boss like normal for the series
>Suddenly a second phase as it grows arms and legs, the music shifts to a straight horror track
>Do damage and catch it in a trap but it gets you with a super attack and starts draining your HP
>The Metroid that spared you earlier, the hatchling that you saved at the start of the game, comes through and attacks her to death and rescues you
>Mother Brain comes back to life and vaporizes the hatchling
>Curbstomp her with the very power the Metroid stole from Mother Brain and gave to you
It's pretty good. And if you fuck up the earlier phase hard enough, which is pretty difficult, the eyebeam can actually just outright kill you instead of leaving you at 1 Energy.
You were rescued by a Super Metroid you see
The continuity is perfectly cohesive as long as you leave out Other M.
>he doesn't know about all the shitty retcons about Samus suit, the space pirates Ridley, MB, Metroids etc.
>not to mention all the half-assed writing
>mommy issues
Except only idiots see it that way.
The point of the baby was to show what genocide looked like, the samus did the same thing as ridley did to her colony. Showed up and destroyed all traces except one child that survived.
Shit Super and Fusion were more about coming to terms with the fact that metroids may not be inherently evil like the first games set up.
Comedy based game set around the Space Pirates being retarded goofballs while Samus explores a planet and you try and hinder her with hairbrained schemes when?
Yes he is absolutely wrong you piece of shit. I can already tell you aren't an actual creative mind, because any creative will tell you reboots are 99% of the time bullshit that just piss off the original fans and almost never bring in new people. See: constant reboots in movies that people are sick to death of.
Metroid still has amazing gameplay to this day and the story is simple enough to understand, plus the designs are timeless. What you really mean to say is shit like Federation Force and Other M need to be considered non-canon spinoffs. There's literally nothing wrong with the series outside of those two bad eggs, so a reboot isn't warranted at all.
Forgot to put the retarded manga as well.
>Every 2D game tries to be cinematic with scripted boss fights and sequences
>the technology wasnt their to make it look really cool
>Samus Returns does it as well as add an optional mechanic(counters) to bring more depth to the gameplay
>WAH WAH THEY RUINED METROID
what are these double standards?
no-one wants to discuss """the evils of genocide""" and other boohoo plot-heavy shit in a metroid game
the lore is already awful, how about leaving it loosely hanging in the background
>>Every 2D game tries to be cinematic with scripted boss fights and sequences
Super Metroid did that and it did that once at the end of the game.
Holy shit calm down
1.
>Sup Forums is one person
2. MB and the Omega metroid are final bosses you nitwit it's okay for them to be somewhat cinematic
Fusion does it too my man
cringe
this is gonna be cool, cautiously optimistic
let's see if the faster gameplay pays off
You guys realize were on Sup Forums right?
But what could Prime 4 possibly be about?
I dont believe phaaze is gone, that would have been too easy.
PHAAZE IS GONE
WE ALREADY ESTABLISHED THIS
QUANTUM NONSENSE
>not realizing all Nintendo series take place in the same universe
The universe is a big place senpai
>tfw no parents
phazon is back
and its in a tube
we're gonna pour it on mother brain's corpse
as samus exits her ship, steam blasts her right in the visor
she makes a :) face and continues
>design the entire game's combat around the counter
>people genuinely believe it's "optional"
Are we talking about the same guy who purposefully instructed Team Ninja to use only the Wiimote in a 3D game, severely hampering any control options?
Nobody cares about Samus' feelings. They want to go to a desolate planet, explore the planet and challenge themselves with the aliens in it.
>melee qte
>she shoots a sr388 metroid in the head and actually damages it
For you
>qte
you dont know what this word means
Fusion is a very controversial title for its linearity. It doesn't make much sense to say that scripted sequences were always a part of Metroid because the one game nobody can agree is good used them.
But even then, I loved Fusion. The important thing to remember about Fusion is that none of them have flashy contextual actions. During all the setpieces the same rules apply that do during normal gameplay, and you're just as vulnerable. Very few of the scripted segments wrest control away from the player, which is why they're involving rather than distracting.
Does that mean the ending of Super Mario Galaxy created a new continuity for every Nintendo series? This could get complicated.
this is the first time i've even seen those, and while they aren't terrible, they are different than the "cinematic" effect of the mother brain fight.
for the counter scenes, you have no control over what you do for the time it's happening, I.E. it takes control away from the player, rather than letting them do the damage themselves.
If it were something like knocking the enemy back leaving it vulnerable for a few seconds, allowing the player to shoot it freely, that would be better IMO.
Zero proof.
GF information has been wrong on way too many occasions to trust it now.
Blowing up shit never worked before, why now?
WELL
Fusion is better than Zero Mission.
