PC "gaming"

>spend almost a year researching and assembling a list of new PC parts
>constantly ask for advice/changes to my build
>finally get to a point where everyone thinks I have a great build going
>hesitate, as I always have issues with technology, and I predict there to be some sort of major problem once I spend this 1.5 fucking grand
>all my friends chide me and say just to get it and that computer assembly is easy and that they'll help me
>finally bite the bullet and buy the parts
>friend comes over and we assemble it
>he has to leave and I finish up the final steps
>won't turn on
>adjust cords, re-read manuals, try again
>does not power on at all
>search online help forums
>other people describing my exact issue with my exact same parts
>threads end with no solution
>nobody has any idea what the problem is
>"lol sucks dude maybe you just have to return the parts and try again"

Why do people think PC gaming is great again?

Because hundreds of thousands of us have figured this shit out with very few problems and much prefer the superior gaming platform.

it's the 12v cable by the fan, it's always that cable with first time builds

>spend almost a year researching and assembling a list of new PC parts
should have worked on your assburger syndrome instead

I've followed detailed instructions, and even had people that are experienced in building PCs helping me. They don't know either. Let me know if I can borrow some of your expertise.

Got that plugged in. It goes right from the power supply to that, right? Thought that was the issue at first, but it's in and still no power.

Well, give pictures and information. Tell us what's going on.

Because the reality is that it's easy to build a PC from parts and greentexts like OP's are the equivalent of "my atheist college professor made fun of God and I beat him in an impromptu debate in front of the class, then everyone clapped".

real talk: maybe something like the power supply is dead from the box, or you messed up the front panel connections (power button, reset, etc.)

Have you tried Gentoo?

did you plug the panel plugs correctly, faggot?

Just no power up at all, not fans spinning for a second before nothing? It's probably a dead power supply, see if you can borrow a known working psu from someone for troubleshooting

>did a year of research
>still bought shoddy parts

Conect the minimum required to show something - PSU + MB with CPU and RAM + VGA
If you have access to spare parts, change the PSU.
If not just drag it to some PC shop nearby.
It's a bitch to diagnose 'nothing works even a little bit' when you don't have stuff to swap and try.

>tired of consoles so upgrade my PC
>take out motherboard and put it on a cardboard box
>THEN take out the gpu by levering it out with a screwdrier because the little plastic tab was a cunt
>have to lever out the mobo power cable with screwdriver too to get it out of the way, scratch the socket to shit
>take out old cpu and put the new one in
>reassemble
>doesn't work
>take it out and put the old one in again
>somehow fix issues
>want to put the new one in again but already thermal pasted it and don't have rubbing alcohol
>use some potyene instead
>reassemble
>has been working fine ever since and has withstood further upgrades
computers are retard proof, but I guess it takes a special kind of retard to be mentally disabled and still have 1.5k to burn

>spend $1500 on parts

>refuse to pay $50 for shop technician to assemble it

NEVER CHANGE pc gamers

>spent 1h browsing forums till I found a forum full of knowledgeable where you can post requests

>someone requests the best bang for buck parts for my requirements

>order them, pay 10€ fee to have entire PC built on top, working out of the box

sorry OP

You should have bought a prebuilt if it took you that long to research, would've suited your skill level better

This desu. I'm too lazy these days to put everything together.

Why pay money for something you can do yourself? Being the one to build your computer is priceless and the knowledge you gain pays off big time in the future. Building a computer is just really expensive Legos. It's all plug and play. The hardest part of building a rig is always going to be software issues. 2/10 you have a DOA part

>shoddy parts
>good parts
>all made in taiwan
You might get less duds with 'good' stuff but don't pretend like it never happens.

Here's one. Yellow cord is plugged into that ATX port. I'll post more, but tell me what you want to see.

No power at all. When I plug my keyboard in it lights up though. I would assume that means I'm getting some sort of power. Dunno though.

Yes, I followed the diagram given. I even rearranged them in every possible combination in case it was set up incorrectly or something.

Here was my build list. Say what you will.

PC gaming is great if your IQ is above 80

>spending more than $400 for a g4560/1050ti

literally no one games above 1080p. they just masturbate over their sick benchmarks and specky post

Really now...

Since OP is a dumb retard he probably should have done this.
Otherwise a waste of money

>Took you a year to research parts

If retarded people like you didn't exist we wouldn't have shitty companies like Sony ruining the game industry with their god awful business practices and movie games.

>with very few problems
Clearly you don't use linux, oh sorrry, gnu+linux.

Your PC is actually great. Except you could have paid less than half of that and gotten a PS4Pro that would outperform that dud there.

Dunno. Have you tried installing the cables the other way?

>lying this hard

>Being this mad
Kek.
It only takes that long to research because recently PC parts have been all over the place with new releases etc.

THIS IS OLD PASTA. DO NOT REPLY!

To learn build a pc you need to attend a course or spend a year researching all shit yourself lol

Its stupid...all this to save $50?

Its a meme and so is a meme to not buy pre-built

You guys jew on $50 and then become steam-fags instead of pirates LOL. ENJOY SPENDING THOUSANDS

Probably fell for the AMD "32 cores" meme.

>A working PS4Pro wouldn't outperforma a PC that can't even turn on.
k

Have you tried taking everything out again and putting it back it?

Friend had a problem when building his PC and made a small stupid mistake. You probably missed something small.

Retard. Stick with consoles you ape.

I don't know where you're getting the mad from, I'm just more amused that people this stupid actually truly exist. I want to study their daily activities.

Is your GPU plugged in? That cpu doesn't have an IGPU

>gaming platform
>Linux

Look in the mirror to get a prime example of stupid.

>No power at all. When I plug my keyboard in it lights up though. I would assume that means I'm getting some sort of power. Dunno though.

huh, i had this issue on my old computer, try booting with the ram removed and let me know if it powers on/fans spin/beeps at you

>amd cpu + nvidia gpu
oh shit nigger what are you doing!

I didn't feel it was too urgent. I have a working PC already, but wanted an upgrade. I researched in my spare time in order to make sure I looked at all available options. I have a paranoia about getting buyer's remorse, so I wanted to ensure I did not regret any of my purchases.

Not refusing - I only got the parts two days ago. If I can't get shit working I'll just shell out the money for someone else to do it.

>any post longer than a few sentences is now pasta

How are you enjoying your time here so far?

topkek.

I literally built my first PC watching YouTube videos over one night. How in the world did you manage to fuck up?

>It only takes that long to research because EVERY RETARD ON THE NET THINKS HE'S ONE AND ONLY AUTHORITY ON PC BUILDING AND WILL TOTALLY SHIT ON YOUR CHOICE JUST BECAUSE YOU PICKED A BLACK CASE WITH BLUE STRIPES INSTEAD OF GREEN ONES HE RECOMENDED
FTFY
Also see the usual poorfag (hiding behind efficiency) vs richfag (flaunting their parent's money) PC gamer discussion on Sup Forums.

Jesus Christ this x1000000

>implying I didn't go for a budget build at half that price while still keeping it capable of low end graphics and with the ability of future upgrades

Spending over a $1000 on parts should only happen if your previous build was stolen or completely destroyed somehow. Ideally, you should start from a cheap first build, and continually upgrade from there.

>wasting money on your first build
People man.

What's the problem with that configuration?

>autoexec.bat
>config.sys
>memmaker
If you have never edited these then you don't know PC gaming.

>anything
>windows

Ya, no thanks. I prefer to not be part of the nigger cattle.

If thats a rysen 5 CPU you gotta update the bios before it can be used on some boards

What about

>intel cpu + amd gpu

??????

also with linux...

You forgot to mention IRQ jumpers on ISA cards granpa.
Now take your meds and go back to sleep.
I'll get off your lawn immediately.

You should be posting this shit on Sup Forums, or on some PC support forum, not on this shithole

Windows for gaming and Linux for everything else. That's the only acceptable answer.

I still have an old shoebox full of boot disks

>I'm a retard and couldn't figure out how to build a PC
>why am I so retarded?

If it won't even turn on then you probably just fucked up when plugging the case power button cord into the motherboard.

I'm a PC gamer, I only spent some months researching, haven't got any problems, and I'm really happy with my PC.

Don't know why you people have so much trouble.

In order for a pc to turn on, you need a CPU, PSU, and RAM connected properly. Buy a PC Speaker (pic related) and listen to the beeps, they beep in a particular way to tell you which of your parts aren't working properly. No beeps obviously means your mobo isn't getting power which means either it's dead, the CPU is dead or the PSU is dead.

computerhope.com/beep.htm

If you can't build PC lego, just get a prebuilt.

Alternatively, sometimes parts arrive dead and you have to send them back. Tech (even consoles) doesn't work 100% of the time.

It is.

Just tried. No dice. My concern is that I'm getting literally no feedback when pressing the power button. No lights, no sound, no fans, nothing. It acts as though it's not even plugged in to the wall.

>spend almost a year researching and assembling a list of new PC parts
>other people describing my exact issue with my exact same parts

Apparently you didn't research hard enough.

If he posted this on Sup Forums they would have laughed his ass off the board.

>not flare x or fortis ram

goof

>Buy a PC Speaker (pic related)
They hand those out for free in our local tech stores.

>just get a prebuilt.
Never post here again

are your power switch/reset switch cables in the proper spots?

Either dead power supply or you fucked up. Triple check the power connections, preferably by undoing them all and slowly redoing them.

Those weren't that important most of the time.
Come feed me my meds you whippersnapper.

>PC parts have been all over the place with new releases etc
wtf are you talking about? Shopping for and assembling parts is braindead simple nowadays

Sup Forums specifically calls out not to use the board as personal tech support. It's for discussion of technology, not "help me figure out why this doesn't turn on."

I've already rearranged the cords from the power button in every way possible. It could just be that the cords are fucked up, or the motherboard is fucked up.

Because people LOVE grayfax and poorly optimized shit that doesn't play at a consistent frame rate unless you buy a fucking $1000 video card.

Honestly if you can't figure out how to build a PC, either PC gaming isn't for you or you get someone else to do it.

Are you EU? there's a voltage switch on the PSU that needs to be switched before it'll work

If you are American then DO NOT switch the voltage switch

PS4Pro can't outperform a R5 1600 with a 1070 card and 16GB of ram. OP being inept at PC doesn't change that.

No it fucking isn't because there is a new part released tomorrow that is twice as good as your part but costs half the price.

That's the first I've heard of that. Can you provide an example?

Did you make sure there's nowhere the mobo is touching the case other than where it's screwed down? Iirc a good PSU doesn't boot when it detects a short circuit.

Other than that pretty much this but take a short break first and then go over it piece by piece following the mainboard manual, then if nothing springs to mind you can try reassembly (at least you've installed the CPU and cooler already so that's the trickiest part done.

Doesn't have to mean your parts are faulty though, any time I assembled and it wouldn't boot it was ALWAYS a short circuit where something was touching the case though.

>mfw building a pc is a casual filter so console fags like OP can never enjoy it
well atleast you still got your dignity
oh wait

Yes, I've rearranged them all. Initially put them into the "adapter" that came with the motherboard, ensuring you put them all in the right slots. When that didn't work, I took them out of the adapter and plugged them each individually. Even flipped them around (in case the positive/negative pins somehow got switched or something), and moved them to different spots. Nothing.

It's easy enough to shop and ensure parts are compatible. There's endless debate on which parts are good and which are bad though, and that was most of the research I did. Some people said NVIDIA GPUs were garbage fire hazards. Others said they were fine.

Everyone is 1337 RIG builder if he happens to not fuck up and has working parts the first time around.
Troubleshooting something when you don't have the experience and spare parts is a bitch though.

Your PSU is switched on, right? Does it have any other buttons, or a sticker that needs to be removed before first use or something?

It's a nice build btw but a bit of cable management so nothing runs the risk of stopping those fans.

>prebuilt.
You'd be paying far more for a prebuilt PC than you would if you built it yourself. You know how Microsoft said the Xbox One X's power is the equivalent to a $1000 PC? They're referring to a prebuilt one as you can actually build a PC equivalent for less than half that price (well you could before the cryptocurrency bullshit happened).

I don't know, why don't you grow your own food and dig yourself a well? Why don't you raise sheep and weave your own clothes?

Stick to prebuilts and consoles, kiddo

I am from burgerworld. I have not touched any sort of voltage switch.

I read something about that. Why would that effect whether the entire PC turns on or not?

I will double check. Hadn't even thought of that.

This.

Also another mistake noobs do is they accidentally have the motherboard touching the case . Make sure you used these fancy jew screws in pic.

You fucking suck at shopping for parts. Because the cost for PC components has stayed consistent for over a year now, unless you count the recent spike in price for memory and GPUs thanks to memecoin mining.

>There's endless debate on which parts are good and which are bad though
And? This has never not been the case, even with console hardware. You have to be really bad at research to not be able to parse this shit.
>Some people said NVIDIA GPUs were garbage fire hazards.
This is an ancient meme dude.

There's a flow chart for these things. No power means a couple things:

1. The outlet may be bad. Easily checked by plugging something else in and seeing if it can draw power.

2. Power cables are bad. Try using another one. I actually had this happen once. I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT WHY WONT IT TURN ON! ...switched power cables and started no problems. PSU cables might be bad too.

3. Power supply is bad. This is quite common in my experience. I have had more than one brand new power supply right out of the box be a dud. Unless you have back up PSU to switch out, not way to test.

4. Short circuit or surge. You fried your rig when you connected the power because you fucked up. Oh well.

If it literally does nothing when you press the power button it might be one of these things.
>Computer isn't plugged in.
>Power supply is switched off or on wrong power setting.
>Power supply is not plugged into motherboard. (there may be a separate power slot for the CPU)
>Case power button isn't plugged into motherboard.
>CPU isn't seated properly.
>RAM isn't seated properly.
>Motherboard doesn't support the type of RAM you bought.
>Power supply is way too weak.
>Power supply is broken.
>CPU is broken.
>Motherboard is broken.
>RAM is broken.

I had similar problem but it was easy to fix

>1.5 grand

I wont help rich fags tho

>no beep
>either PSU is dead or MB is dead
>not that OP knows how to diagnose farther or has spares to swap
>but hey there were no beeps under two minutes so I guess it counts as great success

I built my own PC for the first time back in May and had very little issue. I was slow as fuck but I was taking my time.

PC building is literally legos for adults.

Why change the topic?
Why don't you buy a first gen xbox 360 instead of the next remade nintendo console?

Why are the only two options prebuilt or console? Like some else suggested. He could easily pay a technician $50 to build it for him. It's a compromise for his retardation.

Its a $50 retard fee

Every time I've built my computer I've had some issues on the initial start-up. Power supply had a loose power cord so I just had to make sure it was plugged in properly.

Second time it wasn't doing anything after I turned it on and my brother had to plug it into a sensor that played sounds based on what the problem is and it turned out i hadn't fully inserted the RAM.

1.either the 24pin or CPU 8 pin might be loose if you are sure the power switch cables are connected correctly

2.PSU isnt switched on

3.Voltage selector wrong setting

4.using a power strip? is it switched on?

5.fuse is blown try a different outlet
