I really liked it, glad I gave it a chance. It's hard to go back to after zelda, though.
>It's hard to go back to after zelda, though.
What does this even mean?
Do you just not play any video games at all after Zelda?
Same here I had fun with this game, although they're are some problems need to be fix
the physics and interactivity in zelda is unlike any other open world game out there. Some games have certain aspects in common with botw, like FC2 having fire and wind interactions, but no game comes close to the full plethora of physics interactions that botw has. Also, its world design is really fucking good.
YEAH
>It's hard to go back to after zelda, though.
It really isn't.
There's no comparison whatsoever as far as character and mech customization / jobs / skills / combat options are involved.
You can keep tying balloons to tree trunks and swapping broken weapons every 5 minutes if that's your thing though.
I don't see how anyone can like this game
>shit characters
>shit story
>shit music
>shit combat
What does anyone like about it?
>mech customization
boring
>jobs
literally not even in the game
>combat options
MMO combat sucks
Dude you can fucking roll rocks around, light grass on fire and cut down trees. The only thing impressive about BotW is how relatively bug free it is.
>jobs
nigger what
Jos are, admittedly NPCs can't swap between them, but they are
>Dude you can fucking roll rocks around, light grass on fire and cut down trees
that's more than you can do in Xenoblade
Are you talking about the classes?
I just started this game 2 days ago, seems fun so far but why is the font so fucking small? I have to stop and squint just to read anything.
>MMO combat sucks
I'll take that over BotW's pitiful 1998 throwback combat any day.
and freeze enemies, then whack them off a cliff; and use lightning to damage enemies with a well-timed metal weapon throw; and use electricity to spread in bodies of water to shock fish and enemies; and create fire then use it for an updraft for gliding purposes; etc.
why though
Name another open world game where you can do that
It's pretty good.
It also far superior to BotW when it comes to a motivating late/endgame.
very true, the jap font is a more reasonable size so I don't know what the fuck they were thinking with that tiny-ass font in the western release.
>when it comes to a motivating late/endgame.
explain
Shhh they want to pretend their un-games can even somewhat compare.
Just let them follow quest markers to the next cutscene if that's what they think games are composed of.
>that's more than you can do in Xenoblade
So? Just because a feature exists doesn't mean its inherently good. You can pick up and move most objects in Elder Scrolls games, but no one acts as if that's in any way notable.
>not wanting to know more about the races
*ruins your story*
The Jap font is tiny too. It was one of the things they noted from feedback. That's probably why all the text in X2 is gigantic.
I might want to know more if any of them were interesting at all.
>three hundred pages worth of game mechanics
>most optimal way of playing boils down to spamming the same fucking skills over and over again with no variation whatsoever
>optimal
Christ, you kids suck the fun out of everything don't you.
>BotW
Better get those 600 korok seeds you're missing!
>XCX
Remember those flying fortresses and other huge enemies that fucked you up? Build yourself a crazy mech so you can stomp them into the ground!
It's cherry-picking I guess, but yeah, for me XCX surely is far more motivating.
>responding to such shitty bait
Report and ignore.
it was pretty average i played it a lot to get first kills on some superbosses and top 3 on most, shame there was no tracking i just had to take pictures with the bosses being killed once region wide and myself having the kill
liked xc1 more
>Build yourself a crazy mech so you can stomp them into the ground!
Better get those 600 augment parts you're missing for crafting!
>Better get those 600 augment parts you're missing for crafting!
That involve more than just picking up rocks and shooting balloons.
playing with a shitty build isn't fun, what's your point?
Even if that's so, that grind has a far more satisfying result.
Yeah, it involves fighting the same enemies over and over and dealing with XCX's ridiculous drop rates. It's not fun.
not really
there's a lot of redundancy in xenoblade's combat system, most arts are pointless to use and it all feels the same to execute as well. Not that I'd say that's really an issue, it's just a different approach versus action combat like zelda. XCX feels like it has a lot of small tasks to do that don't have much interaction or real 'weight' to them, whilst zelda has a stronger core (particularly combat, which despite some faults is the best combat I've played in any open world game) and focus on interactivity. Also, even though XCX has more creativity for its regions, I'd say zelda has a better overworld overall, especially from a world design standpoint.
At endgame if you're not using longswords+dual guns you're literally gimping yourself over. Also team mates are useless and Skells are merely fancy cars.
Skells were a mistake
Will we need t have played XCX to playthe new switch game?
So basically you want to remove the fun and boil it down to a exact method to minimize gameplay for just about nothing.
>and freeze enemies, then whack them off a cliff
Really? Knocking enemies off a ledge is your idea of "interactivity"?
>use lightning to damage enemies with a well-timed metal weapon throw
This is neat and all, but highly situational, not to mention the lightning mechanic is terrible outside this little feature. With how annoying it is, I doubt many players were able to figure this out themselves.
>use electricity to spread in bodies of water to shock fish and enemies
Tons of games do this shit.
>create fire then use it for an updraft for gliding purposes
Another neat concept that doesn't work well in execution. If you weren't able to climb anything and everything outside of shrines, this would have actually been a useful mechanic.
>etc.
i.e. you can't think of anything else.
No matter what weapons you use the gameplay is literally always the same.
why would anyone want to go through more crap with this shit combat
Nobody cares about his idiocy. Stop replying.
Your birth was too but you don't see people whining about that all the time, do you now?
Too bad level design is no where near as good as Zelda dungeons
A game's deeply flawed if all the possible "customizations" you can have are just worse versions of something else.
Did someone hurt you?
Are you having a bad day my dude?
i remember doing like 14m million damage with blossom dance or whatever the sword skill was when killing this when at maximum damage multiplier
y-yeah actually
I expected some cool mecha, how far into the game do i have to go to get it?
You do realise that would mean that customization in general, outside of visual customization, would be a completely flawed concept in general right?
There's literally no game that can't be optimized in such a way.
Ultimately you're just destroying your own enjoyment.
>dat cliffhanger
>sequel never ever
Chapter 6, and level 30 for the useful combat options.
Dont worry mate, it gets fun after 20 hours!
>i.e. you can't think of anything else.
challenge accepted
>use metal weapons to solve/cheat electricity puzzles
>use a korok leaf and some octoballoons to blow bombs towards an enemy camp
>attach octoballoons to a raft to sail in the sky
>use magnesis to grab a minecart with a metal craft in it for infinite flight
>equipping a hot weapon (such as a flameblade) to keep yourself warm or melt nearby ice
What do you mean why? BotW's combat is fucking terrible.
I will never understand you fucking morons that shit on any kind of combat that isn't real-time action, and then hold up the absolute worst examples of it. I'll take good "MMO combat" over the shallow, torpid, unresponsive shit that BotW is.
I think it's about chapter 6 maybe?
Flight in chapter 8 or 9.
Too bad BotW doesn't have any dungeons.
It's plenty useful. You can use it in combat or just to give yourself a boost when climbing.
What?
Elma was the single okay party member.
The rest of them, the mute self-insert included, were shit with regards to the story. Elma should have put a cap in Lao and have been done with it instead of listen to Lin whine
>Another neat concept that doesn't work well in execution. If you weren't able to climb anything and everything outside of shrines, this would have actually been a useful mechanic.
painfully wrong, if there's nothing to climb nearby then it's incredibly useful to be able to create your own updraft at any time (even before you get ravioli's gale) as a means of quick-travel. It's also very useful when fighting guardians, since their laser shots create fire from the explosive impact which you can then use to paraglide for easy dodging or for a slowmo shot with your bow as you descend.
She's just boring and has no personality, she's completely uninteresting.
Who the fuck though it was a good idea put The Trigger Scintimure in a firepit where all your teammates sepukku themselfs and the fucker spams stagger all the time
Literally unwinnable
How many chapters are there in total? is there a NG+?
actually the mech makes it less fun for the most part, if you aren't enjoying the first 20-30 hours then it basically isn't the game for you.
Difference is in most games sub optimal builds are not bad to the point it's bonderline impossible to carry out certain tasks with them. And most importantly in no fucking game the AI is so bad that trying to use it is more of a burden than a boon.
12 chapters, no NG+
Like 12, but the first 3 are basically the tutorial. There's no ng+, but there is a lot of 60+ equipment and monster stuff floating around (the game is targeted to end around level 50) as well as a few quests and monsters that don't appear until you finish the story. It's basically there for people who like farming and collecting.
That is still better than the others.
Out of the rest of them, I only had respect for her and Doug.
I'm sad that the new Xenoblade isn't X2. Hope they are working on that next.
>How many chapters are there in total?
12
>is there a NG+?
No, but there's a lot of side quests, monsters to hunt, affinity missions and so on.
The Cristoph brothers are far and away the best characters in the game, Boze, HB and Mia are way better than Elma too.
Judging from the combat only i expected some HIGH-SPEED ROBOT ACTION but it feels more like turn-based stuff. At least the artwork is neat
How retarded do you have to be to tout "muh physics" as the defining feature of a game, and then post a glitch that allows perpetual motion as an example of "muh physics"? If something like that happened in a Bethesda game, you'd shit all over it, but because it's in Zelda, it's "fun" and a "feature".
I hope they aren't
hunting monsters in post game isn't fun. Its just grinding for materials, and you have to put up with the 1% drop rates and other ridiculous shit
Story's 12 chapters long and it's generally agreed to be the worst part of the game (after the faces). There's no NG+ mode and some of your choices can alter permanently the outcome of certain secondary quests. Oh yeah and don't forget to max Lao's affinity.
Xeno games have never been action based, so I don't know why you would expect that.
>since their laser shots create fire from the explosive impact which you can then use to paraglide for easy dodging or for a slowmo shot with your bow as you descend.
Or you can just not be a retard and parry the laser with a shield to the same effect.
anyone else likes the approach of making Elma the main character and you just the goofball who tagged along her and rescue cats and just watch murders happens on its free time?
I just jumped into it cause the artwork looked neat and saw someone flying a huge red mecha
And you need like a trillion various different materials to get a single augment.
While waiting to have enough Miranium stored up from the silly probe set-up. Having to wait real time for a resource in a single player game makes no sense to be honest - though you usually always have plenty after setting the storage pods up correctly.
Elma is boring and dull, so no.
Seriously dude, fucking Doug? The hell is wrong with you?
Ah. Well, Monolith Soft specializes in JRPGs without realtime combat. This is probably their fastest game, but it's still essentially a turn based design hidden behind time management.
I felt like at times he as the only person skeptical about all the damn bullshit going on in the game's plot at the end
Why would I like being cucked out of my protagonist role by a fucking woman who's not even human?
what if I didn't spot the guardian yet?
>to the point it's bonderline impossible to carry out certain tasks with them.
Except they are.
Sub optimal builds in any game have the exact same effect in that they increase the amount of time spent playing and make certain enemies extremely tedious or nigh impossible especially in games with superbosses.
In other words,
>Ultimately you're just destroying your own enjoyment.
What? I had "sub optimal builds" for the entire game and I did well. Use skells and augments
Whatever cuck, shit still more fun than boring ass Xenoblade
But your character isn't human either and can also be a woman whenever they want.
He's a dumbass who's far too dense to understand the situation he has found himself in and who wastes time jogging every morning despite possessing a goddamn robotic body.
I just love how nips in general design mecha, the sense of scale is also great
It's an awesome game, fuck you.
Nice, now try killing Luciel on foot with a knife, a pair of psycho launchers and Mia, Hope and Yelv in your party.
Felt so good ro slap Nardacyon's shit
