are we ever gonna have someone else make a new console
Are we ever gonna have someone else make a new console
There's been several in the last decade, you just don't remember them because they all failed.
Ataribox?
Atari
Haven't you heard the news, jive turkey?
Sega is just biding their time.
Such as?
Soon.
Doubtful but how fucking sweet would that be?!
Sega always had the most fun games.
Ouya
Thats several?
Unless apple or amazon join in, no. It's not worth it trying to compete with these behemoths. Any company that tried to enter could only try to make something very gimmicky. Nobody is going to want to pick up a third "not pc" console. Any other gimmick would require how many hundreds of millions of dollars worth of brand new IPs.
I could see amazon doing well. They could acquire gamefly, stream on prime, release kindle tablet games, and develop their own console that does all and has its own games.
Amazon does own their own version of Cryengine now called Lumberyard. So they're definitely planning on releasing games.
hopefully no
in fact, we can hope microsoft stops making consoles

>“Most of you view gaming as ‘Microsoft has .. .an Xbox business,’” Nadella told the crowd of mostly investment bank analysts who track Microsoft’s finances. “I think you understand the console economics. But it’s a much broader thing for us.”
Not anytime soon.
No, because there's zero point.
>game revenue
includes PC, nice inflation

>literal Twitchbait and nothing else
So?
>Microsoft recently announced a shake up in the company. Today they confirmed their reporting is changing.
>They will change the reporting of their financial results to reflect the company’s strategy and ambitions to build best-in-class platforms and productivity services for a mobile-first, cloud-first world. Beginning in fiscal year 2016, the company will report revenue and operating income based on three operating segments:
>Productivity and Business Processes
The Productivity and Business Processes segment includes results from Office and Office 365 for commercial and consumer customers, as well as Dynamics and Dynamics CRM Online.
>Intelligent Cloud
The Intelligent Cloud segment includes results from public, private and hybrid server products and services such as Windows Server, SQL Server, System Center, Azure, and Enterprise Services.
>More Personal Computing
The More Personal Computing segment includes results from licensing of the Windows operating system, devices such as Surface and phones, gaming including Xbox consoles, and search.
What this means is that Xbox has gone from it's own division over a decade ago to now being lumped into the same segment as Windows. That really shows how Microsoft has changed as a company to focus on Cloud and Office.
And What PC games from Microsoft came out in 2015 and 2016?
nobody actually uses Windows store.
>new console with exclusive Sanic, Yakuza, SMT and Project Diva and a revival of Virtua Fighter
One can only dream.
