Why is this game so popular?

Why is this game so popular?

Because ____________________it's fun_____________________

Because battle royale is a good movie

The book is way better you plebeian.

It's fun af

It's fun to play with friends and even with pugs.

Doesn't even matter if it's early access or buggy as shit.

its fun af & a litty game

Because:
1.-Everybody can play it, just pick up a gun and press m1 on the baddie
2.- Streamer bait
3.- League of Legends/Overwatch kids are getting tired of their shitty game and lots of them migrated to this since it was the #1 thing on Twitch
4.- You can play it with three other people (Anything is fun with friends rule)
5.- You could say it has a healthy amount of rng
Honestly the game is ok, but the problem is that everybody is so anxious about getting a victory, that they camp inside a bathroom for 30 minutes instead of using their guns.

Arma 2 BG was great and now it's really accessible to brainlets and people who don't want to put up with bohemia's jewery

Its fun, that it, I've never been that thriled by gunplay as much as while playing PUBG, I ,thought it was garbage and I was dead wrong, its perfectly worth the 30€.

The shooting and movement are kinda clunky but they are good enjough, the formula was perfectly nailed and thats all that maters.

i don't see much people camping though
it happened a little bit at first but the zone mechanics does a pretty good jobs at making you stay on the move

Because it took the style of gameplay of games like dayz and rust and dialed the autism requirement down a ways

>reading genre fiction

Streamers

its an exciting game due to the rng and random flight patterns with a decent shooting system. not to mention that the devs have been putting a lot of focus on weekly stability updates and monthly content updates so it keeps on getting better.

some of the funniest shit I've heard and seen has happened during altercations with random people, its like Sup Forums level of shitposting but you get to shoot the faggot who's spouting it

>why are casual shooters popular

What did he mean by this?

>they camp inside a bathroom for 30 minutes instead of using their guns.
I'm trying to get away from that. Some of the most fun I've had recently is just dropping straight into a hot zone and going at it.

They do move only when they are forced to move because of the circle, but I've seen quite some screenshots of people getting chicken dinners with only 1 kill and around 20 hitpoints of damage.
Now you could debate me and say that's the smart way to play the game, and hey, you would be right, but camping in this game just to get 1 kill and ""win"" the game is something that a lot of people do.

Because normalfags are mentally challenged pieces of shit.

This game is just so fucking bad, LoL tier, you just roam around for 40 minutes picking random shitty items just for ten seconds of "action" (this is usually rappresented by some camper in a bush that you can't even see).

It's one of the worst games every made and you deserve brain cancer for playing it

They will camp till they NEED to move. Even trying to land for quick PVP has people camping corners with third person, the school and military base isn't even fun anymore.

Even in the last fucking circles, if you move first you will probably die to someone who waits till the circle hits his building who will probably not win as a result. He just stopped you from winning.

>rappresented

>I have no friends and I keep dying because I have no awareness

git gud faggot

meh i get around 6 kill on average when the games goes well
camping is boring as shit kinda kills the fun for me
it helps that i mostly play in duo with 1 friend so people probably camp less

If I play this game solo will I have fun™?

i might be unlucky/lucky then because usually i'm always on the verge of the zone and if you move smartly you can avoid campers pretty well

That's (You), but I'm talking about the grand majority of the game, they would rather camp for 40 minutes and kill someone than landing on a hot zone and getting 8 kills but dying before top 50

Sure, solo is ok, in my opinion, as long as you keep jumping into the actual contested areas, you will always have a little fun.

>calls people mentally challenged
>rappresented, every made
The ironing is delicious.

if you get gud you will

>it's the streamers fault
redpill me on this. how could streamers be responsible for nearly a quarter million people playing the game at all times?

This. "Streamerbait" fags don't understand that the underlying premise of online battle royale is thrilling and other games that tried it were too far invested in shit like crafting. This one is balanced perfectly.

hum it's just publicity

>Popular streamer streams a game for 10k people
>Those 10k people get redpilled on the game
>Every single person out of those 10k invite as many friends as they can
>Those friends invite more people
>Those people invite more people

Cause the result of each match is like the sum of all your skills building up little by little. You are really invested by the time you get to the end and it's short enough that it's not too disappointing when you die, like in DayZ or similar.

>I can't win without friends
Absolutely pathetic

>git gud
Do you honestrly believe you need to be "good" to win at this piece of shit game? Ridiculous, even memewatch is better than this crap.

Fuck off.

go back to /lit/

>everyone chooses when to jump out of the plane
>everyone chooses where they land
>everyone chooses where to go after they land
>there are known high loot areas and locations for vehicles
>b-but it's 100% rng why I keep dying!!!

It's only fun if you make it fun, try to actually win and you will hate it (unless your a faggot streamer)
>me and 3 buddies
>all drop at the school we call Columbine
>tons of other people drop in
>SchoolsInSession.png
>tfw you actually kill everyone while screaming racial profanities dressed as a naked nigger with buds

Does it not make more sense that the most popular games on twitch are a result of the most popular games overall, and not the other way around?

Or are MOBA's, Overwatch, CSGO etc's popularity all because of streamers too?

so it's only good if you play it ironically ?
:^)

>people actually pay for and play game of some autistic sperg who bans people because they don't recommend his ARMA asset game

No, you see, good things are only popular when it's things that I like. When it's not things that I like, surely the corporations just paid to force its presence in the media to make it seem like it's popular.

Oh god really? I regret saying that. Jumping near some already known area and then running to pick upfirst the shit in it is the apex of skillful gaming.

Then of course, you proceed running around like a retard, picking shit in houses and hoping that you'll see the enemy before hee sees you, because it's the only things that determines who will live and who will die.

Because it's fun.

Is there really only one map?

yeah

2 in the works apparently

Yeah but the map is huge and the environments are pretty varied.

Too bad the circles make it so we never use those but your question is like asking why GTA has one map.

Do I need much gun knowledge for this game

I don't play shooters much

You're an idiot. Emergent scenario variation from online systems =/= RNG, at least, not the type of RNG that we normally refer to and should complain about in games. And that's bullshit about being the only thing to determine who kills who, I've had people shoot at me from behind and I've killed them. There's still aim skill, positioning, and knowing how to use the environment to your advantage.

You don't need to know shit, you'll learn from playing.

>wait in plane until it kicks you out
>kill all the afk players
>have entire half of map to yourself

im surprised more people don't do that

Like all shooters aiming will help a lot but it's not a twitch shooter.

Having a good position can pretty much win the game. I think the devs are posturing to remove the RNG of end game circles soon so hopefully they fix that so people who don't play the game have that shit talking point which they use to talk over people

I mean that's just like your opinion man. I find the game a really fun arcadey tactical shooter. It's fun planning routes that give you the most cover and engaging in firefights. And the drop engagements become a little better when you know the regular weapon drop locations. Sieging buildings kind of sucks though.

Yes, but it's a huge map. I've played about 45 rounds and I'm still finding new structures and areas on it regularly.

this

im also surprised at the number of afk players every round

why? it takes

It took what DayZ did right and made a game out of it

It's the poker of shooters.

High skill high rng.

Literally nothing wrong with that

Streamer and Let's Player "survival game" bait like Rust, The Forest, etc.

It will be dead within the next few months I'm sure.

This is generally true. It just replaced the "CSing" from ASSFAGGOTS with searching around for items. The only few seconds of tension come from the sunk-cost of losing 40 minutes of progress.

>High skill
Sure buddy. Keep telling yourself that.

every month needs a flavour

Because it's fun
You should try it out

Show me all your chicken dinners then

Unfortunately it sold like hotcakes. So we can expect a huge dump of these kind of games in the next years because of faggot ass YouTubers shilling it so hard that everyone and their dogs bought a copy. Now developers and publishers think this is what gamers want. Thanks steamcucks.

Because of the power of streamerfags shilling the fuck out of the game nonstop.

>high skill

My question is, why is it so much more popular than H1Z1 when it seems to have literally no advantage other than being double the price?

It's unlike those games because it doesn't have crafting and hunger shit. It's more like a 100 player free for all deathmatch, one life elimination mode, king of the hill all-in-one. And it's fucking fun.

Well I don't really expect you to believe me but I played a lot of Quake when I was young and I got global elite in CSGO. Also was in top 1% in Overwatch in season 1 but I got bored of that game really quick because it was such a simple game.

I think the game has a lot of interesting macro decisions. I compare it to poker because sure the most skilled player may not win sometimes and the lowest skilled player might win because they got 1 kill at the end by hiding in the bush and the circle rng blessed them. But the highest skilled player makes really good decisions and have high win rates and kdr because of that.

But sure please tell me how this game is low skill

The same reason Kendrick Lamar is popular: Manufactured popularity.

So what DO gamers want? Being in the minority whining about a fun game they know nothing about? That's all Sup Forums seems to do.

I just want a decent, high skill, fast paced shooter to play. TF2 isn't doing anything for my anymore and Overwatch is just a MOBA with shooting mechanics.

I want to try it but I don't have friends. Maybe one day.

Please post all your accounts to really drive that point home for that jealous piece of shit.

Quake champions is alright. Shame they fell for the MOBA style champions though

It's fun solo

solo mode is fine, you dont need friends

How does the game run? I have a 970

It's actually pretty fun with a group of 3-4 friends so long as everybody has a mic and keeps up to date on any enemy teams or sounds they hear and the directions of it all.

I would never play solo though honestly, sounds like a shitfest.

Same card, 60 fps on a mixture of mid and high settings.

how do ppl see shit in this game ? my friend always spots players and when he tells me where they are i look and i swear on my life that there's nothing, no movement or anything. am i just blind? fuck

I set everything to low and use reshade. Playing on high detail just puts you at a disadvantage

>Ending on military base
>7 faggots camping bridge every single time

Unfortunately this is true, the lower your graphics settings the more of an advantage you will have because not as much grass and stuff hiding the other players

This shit bothers me. I wish there was a way to only play with others who have similar graphics settings as you. I'm not enough of a fag to willingly remove Ultra settings for the sake of a chicken dinner text message.

Still waiting on you to prove you were the greatest world champion at every game you ever played to really teach thaat asshol a lesson.

Itachuu#1194, gotta go in overwatch to actually see my stats in season 1, but I was rank 72 which was top 1% at that time
In CSGO I don't have proof since I'm unranked now and I can only find a screenshot of some guy just spinbotting when I was LEM

I'll take the lie accusation but i'd rather just hear why it's a low skill game

There are two effective strats for not getting fucked by campers.
1. Find yourself a house and hope the zone stays on you for a fuck ass long time.
2. Always move along the blue line, so that the likelyhood of people coming at you from behind is lower.

When push comes to shove, positioning is the end all and be all of the last few gunfights. If the zone fucks you over, there isn't much you can do if the enemy is half confident.

It's a video game built around fun and not politics.

Shitty streamer bait flavor of the month game, will be dead in a few months or replaced by something else. You guys remember H1Z1: King of the Kill? Yeah, it's literally the exact same fucking thing.

because they tapped the whole permadeath deathmatch gimmick which made games like dayz interesting, but also took out all the stupid bullshit like crafting and zombies

why is Sup Forums so tsun over this game? not enough cinematics, QTEs, and story to hold you hand? why did you leave your spiderman thread?

>when you lie about who you are on Sup Forums because you just need someone to tell you they're proud of you
It's ok
They can't hurt you here

>You guys remember H1Z1: King of the Kill?
Except it costs twice as much

H1Z1 is still fun if you have friends by the way. And most of the time it seems to be on sale or some shit - I believe it's half price right now. They improved matchmaking by a fucking shitton, they're actually releasing good updates semi-regularly now, and the game is still surprisingly alive, so there's literally no reason to get PUBG instead.

Heck, I just sold a random shotgun I got from a free crate for $18 and recouped the cost of the game just from that (although I'll admit that's probably not going to happen to everyone, to put it mildly).

>You guys remember H1Z1: King of the Kill
i've never played it, but it's like top 5 most played on steam every day

Yeah and they threw in something even more generic.

>it'll be dead in a month!
>just one more month!
>n-next month for sure you guys
>bl-bluh? n-next durh

Literally the best selling game during the steam sale. With no discount.

Cringe

>releases on xbone then PS4 after timed exclusive
>buggier, even more lag
>but it's suddenly a good game now

90% of best selling games on steam are fucking trash, user. Just because it sold well with autistic streamers and normies doesn't make it good. The only reason it isn't dead yet is because it hasn't been replaced with something else, H1Z1 was once at the top of it's game and it's been replaced by PUBG, even though they're fundamentally the exact same game.

Because its gameplay design from a lowest common denominator point of view is that its the same simple boring asinine bullshit equivalent to "pick up and play" with one unique gimmick because why actually EVER try to expand out of your little safe and boring taste? I don't understand how people play this boring shit.
