ITT post game that really make you think and need 150+ iq to understand or have to google an explanation
A lot of movies like this, not enough games.

Undertale

Don't shit your pants

The MGS series is the most intellectually and philosophically deep writing in gaming.

That's because movies have a culture of pretension and AAA games generally do not. Telling a story in such a way to confuse the audience is not a notably difficult thing to do, and often is a diversion so you don't notice that the story being told isn't particularly special or good.

The characters in that game explain the plot to you like you're an autistic 4-year old.

The Witness, Unironically

League of legends, DOTA and PUBG

(probably the 3 most played games at oxford uni)

I think we all know the only correct answer here...

Google will definitely NOT help you

>the 3 most played games at oxford uni
well, to be fair, Oxford is a shithole; any human beings of actual worth have come from Cambridge

at the end of Bioshock 1 I was like wtf? But then I did some reading and I could understand. The fact that, at the time, the subtitles were bugged and out of sync didn't help.

Also, I bought the book and it really answered the questions I had, excellent book, highly recommend for those who liked the game.

The Witness

Is this the troll thread where you expect the bioshock 2 video?

t. reject

SotC is pretty obtuse with it's story

Just curious, what are some movies you think do this?

I've never even played E.Y.E but it was my first thought upon reading the OP.

Dorf fort is the only one, every other game is for braindead tards

Pi and Primer try their hardest. Both are pretentious psuedointellectual shit though.

I pirated that the remaster version or smth but cant turn off mouse acceleration so dropped it

>excellent book, highly recommend for those who liked the game.

You realise Ken Levine fucking hated the book, as he had to study it intensively for his liberal arts 'degree'. Bioshock's plot is meant to be a satire of it.

Bioshock Infinite is definite brainludo. Honestly it kind of embarrasses me to admit it but I couldn't finish it. I got stuck at the bell puzzle. Thought I was smart but you always learn I guess.

Spacechem
Braid
Dwarf Fortress
All non-eroge VNs

That's kind of difficult to answer because there are so many, however, this is a particularly big offender.
Also, I don't believe a movie has to use this trope to be considered pretentious, but they do go hand and hand.

Bioshock: Infinite

>tfw you realize it should be called Aeroshock since Bio means water

Bioshock infinite.

Even the most weathered cryptologists can't seem to crack the first puzzle.

Damn, Bioshock Infinite truly is the Dark Souls of puzzle games...

Planescape: Torment. It's like reading a 9/10 novel and playing a 7/10 game at the same time.

>Bio means water
I'm taking this fucking bait.

>from Greek bios ‘(course of) human life’. The sense is extended in modern scientific usage to mean ‘organic life’.

hydro means water, not bio

la-mulana, everyone who says they beat it blind is talking out their ass

Enjoying your first week here, guys?

inb4 this was metabait

>since Bio means water

holy shit you can't be this stupid

>students at a prestigious uni play skinner box games

>smart people play good games
Who would have guessed?

>college kids play board games
brevity is the soul of wit and all that

That's the case at every uni though

Bioshock Infinite

especially the ending

How is PUBG a skinner box? There isnt much grinding and shit in it is there? War Thunder is what I would call a skinner box due to it being about grinding for the next vehicle and the next one and the next, the only purpose of the game at its core to grind for the next vehicle, the next tier and the next in an exponentially increasing grind

is the bioshock infinite thing bait?

Killer7 is the only right answer.

>understood Donnie Darko at first watch
>still haven't figured out what the fuck was bioshock infinite's story trying to do, even after watching explanation videos in from youtube

I had to look up a walkthrough and still couldn't reproduce the correct algorithms to crack that puzzle!

>merely pretending
enjoying your first month here?

If you don't know the "bio means water" shit then you are a newfriend, yes. Do you also reply to gorilla warfare pastas and tell them it's actualy guerilla?

It's not that complex, it's just uninteresting. There are infinite universes and therefore infinite possibilties.

infinite versions of me fuging ur mom :DDD

If you want a serious answer

constants and variables XD

>this amount of damage control
Go back to /reddit/ son

Probably most things on this list. Most of them are fairly obscure, a bit dated, have obtuse mechanics, and rarely have a wiki, so being able to play these is a brainlet filter.

the controls for Gothic 1

What is Prisoners the game?

SpaceChem.

...

unironically came here to post this

LoL and overwatch

Games is a poor medium to tell good stories in, so most of the plots people praise for being deep and hmm aren't actually clever but instead just poorly communicated. Example: Bioshock Infinite.

Not that movies don't suffer from this too, but not as much.

Only real games that make you think are Braid, Limbo/Inside and The Witness, and they do not because the plot is necessarily incredibly complex or convoluted, but because they're artsy and ambiguous in nature.

>equipment bonii in arabic numerals
>level in arabic numerals
>stats in arabic numerals
>spell levels in roman numberals

t. pleb
That movie isn't even hard to understand.

I started EYE yesterday, I thought everything I saw on Sup Forums would finally make sense. I'm wrong, but it's okay.

NOTHING can help you.

Wait a minute, that card...

just rolling for a video game

Came here to say this. It helps that like half of the game was cut out, so you're never really sure if something doesn't make sense because of time constraints or if it's on purpose.

Any JRPG in Japanese, when you don't understand Japanese.

I'm bored, let's see what I get.

kek

My theory has been that it's called Bioshock cause the MC's bio (biography) gets "shocked", since in every game the climax is learning that the MC isn't who he thinks he is

you fucking retard. It's called Bioshock because the jump scares make you piss your pants.

How can people be this dense??

Reminder that bioshock infinite and its DLCs are all non-canon in the overall bioshock universe, since everything that happened are in seperate universes than the first 2 games

Well, unless they say that all universes are canon.

Nothing comes close to The Secret World
