Unless there's like some really cool and unique concept you have that you think can be put into place, having it'd probably be better to just trust the developers to do their thing with the funds you give. There's no shame in realizing that your ideas may not be the best - this is the dude who fucking made Minecraft for shit's sake, I doubt he's too good at actually providing good input to a game's development.

To a degree I agree when dealing with famous series like this where you can rely on the developers who made the first games so good, though it can be good to give a clearer outline when there's a number of ways they can go. But I'd also want to make a bunch of new games based on own ideas, and there you'd want input, though I would probably still hire a lead developer because it's more work than just going "don't forget to make it so you can do ANYTHING". Also there would be the problem of spoiling the games for yourself, so you'd want to keep as hands off as possible.
That's why you'd have a lead developer to bounce your ideas off. If I wanted a certain mechanic he could tell me if it seemed good, or if it's vague enough he could implement it in a specific manner. Plus it would be exhausting to be a lead developer, and you'd probably be so impatient that you had several projects going on, in addition to doing rich people stuff
