Master mode without porting at all is pretty fun. Can't beat "An Adequate Test of Strength" shrines though because all my weapons break.

That HUD looks straight out of Halo or Deus Ex: Infinity War, but mainly reminds me of Elite: Dangerous.

I think its fun, on some level I enjoy the tension of going deep enough that I can't see what's in front of me, or seeing that single solitary yellow blip come up on the radar which means there's a large angry fish bigger than my sub nearby and I need to turn everything off and hope he just goes away because I'm too stupid to bring decoys. It makes for some hair raising situations that give me a little adrenaline hit. The sound design is top notch, but its always a little scary when you hear the big angry fish before you can actually see where it is. For perspective this is my sub and I fit nicely into the glass helm there

glad you enjoy it. most first time players I know dropped it because they couldn't get used to the controls. it's a shame since it's such a great game

I actually never played Suikoden so I can't say. The combat is akin to the standard final fantasy-esque turn based model. If you played final fantasy tactics advance, you know how you can select unique passive and active abilities? This game has that for your 6 party members.

There's usually liky like 1000 people playing at once, but it doesn't take that long to find games. Its worth getting if that's what you're trying to figure out, the single player is great too.

Warrior. Wanted to play a straight fighter for a change, and the simplicity is refreshing.

I'm also playing with uncapped skills and abilities, and I'd warmly recommend it to everyone who can refrain from powergaming. Lets you stick to single combat style, slows down overlevelling to a crawl, and you end up with fairly colorful stats instead of just having 100 in everything.

Fucking Gaenor still cost me two broken shields and ~50 potions.

No, it's purposely single player.

It's just you stranded on a flooded alien planet with cute, cuddly things that want to play with you.

it took me around 9 hours to complete the main story with one of the main characters.

The thing is that there are 6 main characters each with their own unique backstory and cutscenes. But apart from the beginning and maybe around 5-6 cutscenes the story largely remains the same. There are intentional parts in the game where you suspect one of your characters know more than what is presented, but it is only expanded if you choose that character as your hero.

tldr: there is replayability but I don't think it's worth the hassle to go through the whole thing (unless you have a trainer) 6 times.
If you're only going to play it once though, I recommend picking Isaac.
