What's today's equivalent to LJN and Blast! ?
People love to criticise EA and Activision but compared to the two mentioned above they are game maker genuises.
Whenever I went to Gamestop a few years ago I saw these weird licensed games, mainly for the Wii and WiiU, so I suppose you find those absurd game developers for Nintendo consoles mainly nowdays?

LJN wasn't a developer. They only published games and go fuck yourself, Alien3 was awesome.
Developers or publishers like LJN just couldn't exist nowadays due to mostly honest reviews, gameplay videos, demos and so on. Everyone would just see through their shit and wouldn't buy the game, and nowadays two or three total flops means game over for the company.
So there's no today's equivalent to those horrible fucking scammers of the NES era in my opinion.

That depends. LJN probably wouldn't stand out so much if it weren't for 2 things:

Usually bad licensed console games tend to get blended together with any other shovelware a console has, but that didn't happen with the NES, largely thanks to LJN. EA probably would be comparable if they primarily focused on one console, since they've been hogging the rights to several huge brands for decades now, but they make games for everything so it's not really the same.
As for the Rare thing, they've hung out with both Nintendo and Microsoft since they left LJN behind. Their time with Nintendo was generally considered to be their golden age and their early games under Microsoft were mostly sequels to original titles, so I guess that would make Kinect Star Wars the closest thing to a modern LJN game.
