I'm slowly getting the feel that I won't be able to grab a Special Edition of Metroid Samus Returns. They've been avaiable for pre-order for about 30 seconds yesterday, before they were all sold out.

Really makes me wonder what's the idea behing pre-order is? I mean, don't you pre-order so you can't be so unlucky to not get a copy in retail?
Now however, you can't even be sure you'll be able to make a pre-order in the first place, even if you're at the PC while those pre-orders goes live.
What's the point of this? Where is this supposed to lead us? Will we have pre-orders for pre-orders in the future?

Pre-orders have nothing to do with ensuring customers get a product on release date. Pre-orders are like regular orders in that they allow a customer to purchase a product as long as they have it in stock, the only difference is that pre-ordering happens before the product's release date. Since regular stock will be practically limitless most of the time, the retailer can order in a larger amount of the product so that they have enough to provide for all their customers on release date. In the case of special editions, the stock they have is far more limited so the pre-orders for those will only be available for a short time before the product is out of stock. No-one is entitled to a special edition, only those who are lucky enough to get a pre-order in will get one.

I don't think I'm entitled to a Special Edition. I think it's still OK to be pissed if I miss out on it.

With the exception of Metroid Other M, I love every Metroid game in the series. Even the dumb pinball spin-off and to a certain extend even Chibi Force.

Metroid Other M is mediocre at best and horrible at worst. It's the one and only Metroid game, which is truly bad. Not uninteresting or unengaging. Not just decent. Not a step in the wrong direction. But absolutely and completely BAD.

You can call Prime fans autists as much as you want, at least they're playing good games unlike Other M apologists.

I wouldn't call it awesome, but it's certainly not a bad game gameplay-wise, especially on replays when you already know how to get through the bullshit annoying parts (i.e. the pixel hunts in first person). The story will forever give me cancer though, the only good way to experience the game is skipping it.

Hive Mecha and Incinerator Drone are just trapping you in a room, shooting a red button and spawning War Wasps at you.
Flaahgra is literally just repeating the same thing 4 times. Thardus is repeating the same thing 7 times with long, drawn out pauses between each. Metroid Prime's first phase drags out for ages and his second phase is just a snoozefest as you wait for him to finish spamming his single AoE attack and actually give you a phazon pool to attack him with.
Omega Pirate is awesome.

Prime games are good games, but they are shit Metroid games.

I just like the idea of the power suit being intelligent enough to assimilate powers and technology.. It sounds pretty reasonable for the chozo to have interacted with other races too. if you think about it the "light suit" and "dark suit" must have some base appearance for the luminoth or something that's altered by the power suit.

But also the idea of the energy transfer module and samus being unable to tap it until encountering u-mos plays off similar to ZM and the 'legendary' powerups
